Abstract:
This article examines three commentaries on the Aggadah story of the Talmudic sage Rabbah bar bar Hana’s incredible journeys: by the Maharal of Prague (16th cent.), the Gaon of Vilna (18th cent.) and Rabbi Nachman of Bratslav (end 18th – 19th cent.) While all three authors see the story in an allegorical vein, each one has their own focus and seems to wander away from the text proper and interpret it through the lens of their own set of ideas, be it philosophy, metaphysics, ethics, asceticism or mysticism. So Maharal of Prague sees the Haggadah as kind of philosophical and mystical treatise. H

Abstract:
Chang An, the inaugural work of the "New Culture" series by Light Chaser Animation, offers a glimpse into the life stories of Tang Dynasty poets such as Gao Shi and Li Bai within the historical context of the dynasty's rise and fall. This animation piece effectively portrays the distinctive traits of Chinese literati, providing a collective character portrait. Diverging from the fantastical themes of "New Legends" and "New Gods," Chang An places a central focus on meticulously reconstructing historical details and narrating the intricate character-driven stories. Its underlying intent is to es

Analytical expressions for the three vectors for the pseudocubic cell and three vectors for a BX 6 octahedron are derived for space groups Pbmn, Cmcm, Ibmm, P4/mbm, P4/nmc, I4/mcm and R 3 c. The following structural parameters may be derived from these vectors: up to six pseudocubic parameters defining octahedral geometry; length- and angle-based octahedral distortion parameters λ and σ; inclination angles of tilted octahedra, θ1, θ2 and θ3; ang

Early seedling vigor is an essential characteristic for direct seeded rice. This study aimed to evaluate thirty-one rice varieties, categorized into three ecotypes (lowland, upland, and deep-water cultivars), to identify traits associated with early seedling vigor under direct seeding conditions. Each evaluation was conducted using three biological replicates. The experiments comprised of two parts: (a) deep-sowing tolerance and anaerobic germination tests and (b) aerobic germination conditions as a control. Black carbon (BC), organic carbon (OC), and total carbon (TC) in snow are important for their climatic and cryospheric effects. They are also part of the global carbon cycle. Atmospheric black and organic carbon (including brown carbon) may deposit and darken snow surfaces. Currently, there are no standardized methods for sampling, filtering, and analysis protocols to detect carbon in snow. Here, we describe our current methods and protocols to detect carbon in seasonal snow using the OCEC thermal optical method, a European standard for atmospheric elemental carbon (EC). Abstract The deadliest anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) often transforms from indolent differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC), however the complex intra-tumor transformation process is poorly understood. We investigated an anaplastic transformation model by dissecting both cell lineage and cell fate transitions using single cell transcriptomes and genetic alterations data of patients with different subtypes of thyroid cancer. The resulting model started from stress-responsive DTC cells to inflammatory ATC cells, to mitotic defective ATC cells and extended all the way to mesenchymal ATC cells. In p
