The transition to university is a common, but varied experience shared by all students. Although, it is a largely positive life transition, many students experience major difficulties in making this transition. New university students often have to move away from home, establish new friendships and cope with academic work. In addition, they tend to drop out of university during their first year of study due to the manifest difficulties they cannot overcome. Secondly, it compares students’ perceptions of teaching at the start, during and at the end of their first year of their first year of university studies. While these broad indicators can be useful at a system level, understanding children’s development in discrete domain areas is essential for meaningful intervention.
