The thesis deals with a design of a highway bridge with multiple spans. The bridge is constructed for highway D1 and goes across the river Bečva close to the city Přerov. Two different solutions were carried out from which a solution with subsequently prestressed box girder was chosen. Static model and load actions were modelled in program Scia Engineer 2016.0. Design checks were done manually according to corresponding Eurocodes. Load actions from wind, uneven support settling and horizontal actions from transit were neglecte.

The intention of my diploma´s thesis was project of new building of wellness hotel located in the cadaster unit of village Horní Bečva. Plot for this building was chosen mild slope. Numbers of these plots are 764/1 and 769/1. Besides of hotel structure, there will be a structure of parking with 26 parking spots. Hotel will offer opportunity for all-seasons accomodation. Hotel guests will be able to visit wellness situated in the 4th floor and restaurant situated in the 1st floor. Restaurant will be allowed also for an external guests. Location for placement of this new building is suitable for this type of building. The hotel is solved as four-storey building. The external and internal loadbearing masonry are created from sand-lime brick of system KM BETA SENDWIX. The floor structures are created as cast-in-place reinforced concrete floors. The building has contact thermal insulation system ETICS. The diploma’s thesis has the form of design documentation for the building process.

The newbuild library is situated close to the bank of the river Bečva in the historical part of the town. The library is a place to save the values of knowledge, culture and the era itself. It should be strong and durable. It should last for centuries and saveguard its fragile content. However, it should also be an open place for people because information itself is worthless without the human mind to interact with. The contrast of openness and seclusion is expressed not only by shape of the structure but also its facade. The whole building is center-oriented – to the central hall, which is surrounded by books. Secluded volume of the hall is accessed via opening to the library's foreground.

The topic of this master's thesis is the revitalization of the former Spartakiad stadium. Nowadays it functions as a sports complex Ohrada, which is in neglected condition and not widely used. The area is located at the southern edge of the city Vsetín and is defined by a 1st class road from the northeast, Vsetínská Bečva from the western and agricultural areas from the southern side. Above Bečva, the Bečevná hill rises and together they create a pleasant, out-of-town atmosphere with a great potential. The priority of the proposal was to create an attractive place with a variety of sports and recreational activities for all ages. However, at the beginning it was necessary to somehow insulate the area from the overpass. Therefore a sports and recreation facility was designed at the entrance to the area - it copies the shape of the road and forms an imaginary entrance gate to the zone. A car park was designed under the overpass, so the rest of the area remained exclusively for pedestrians. Sufficient distances among the individual sports grounds are supplemented by recreational areas of greenery. Most playgrounds are designed as multi-purpose, for greater variability of the territory. The buildings have a maximum of two floors and they are located in a way not to disturb the views of the recreational areas. They contain sports facilities as well as a wide range of interior activities. Three materials are used on all the buildings - wood, steel and glass, complemented by neutral white plaster. Therefore, the area operates in a comprehensive and uniform manner.

Diploma thesis is focused on multifunctional building on the embankment in Přerov. The building has four aboveground floors. Multifunctional building is situated on the bank of the Bečva river with the view over the historic city centre of Přerov. Main mass of surrounding block is formed by Sokolovna built in functionalist style. Intention is to connect old block with new multifunctional building in minimalistic style. First floor will have three shopping units and technical facilities. Second and third floors will be used for living and administration. Living and administration parts will be separated in the layout of the building. Fourth floor will be used for living.

This master's thesis consists of three main parts. The first section describes some types of fish crossings and basic information of their design. There is also marginally described program HEC-RAS. The second part is about the Zuberská weir and Osek stage. I review here fish ladders according to the original drawings in the HEC-RAS and suggest possible options to address these passable fish crossings for the fish crew. The last section is devoted to Mikulenkov weir where the fish crossing has been completely removed. Here I propose a new fish ramp according to modern knowledge and applicable standards. I also review the proposed fish ramp in the HEC-RAS program in order to verify the hydraulic characteristics.

The aim of this thesis is the design of curved footbridge across the river Bečva. Curved footbridge consists of a supporting steel arch, which brings the steel struts to the steel arch under the concrete deck. The steel arch with crosspieces is coupled with concrete deck using the coupling pins. The deck is formed from reinforced concrete. Structural model is carried out in a computer program ANSYS. The structural design is handled in accordance with applicable European standards. The design considers pedestrians load and temperature effects.

The diploma thesis The Sports & Relaxation Center Vsetín, Ohrada deals with an area surrounding former spartakiad stadium. This area is defined by the Vsetínská Bečva from the north-west, a limited-access road from the north-east and by waterworks from the south. That is how it creates notional triangle on the south outskirts of the town of Vsetín. The project aims to motivate people to spend more time doing sports activities in a beautiful environment located near the Bečva river and so offer them healthier possibility compared to time spend in shopping centers or block of flats. Since the environs of the area are extensively varied, we can’t follow current street network. So, I decided to create centralized urban concept and imaginary turn back to the town with a wall, which separates quiet pedestrian zones of the sports complex from everyday city rush and opens the view of the river, nearby wooded hills and meadows. Thanks to the aforementioned wall we will also have a use for the soil from the stands of the existing stadium. As we talk about area seemingly laying behind the built-up urban boundary, the landscape is more important than the urban structure, and the individual buildings are located outside the viewpoints, making them only supplementary elements to the ever-present greenery. The composition of the buildings consists of a central atypical hall and two type commercial buildings on the sides, where there are individual sports facilities and multipurpose grass areas between them.

The work deals with a theoretical description of mathematical model and practical aspects of model simulation. Subsequently, it solves the current flow and the two design versions of the flowing debris trap profile. For the original channel and for the two designed versions two simulations were done for the flows of Q2 and Q5. As part of the work the theoeretical calculation of velocity in two cross sections of the existing channel was realized for the existing channel, which were due to calibration of the model. Results were compared at the same cross sections in the existing channel simulation solutions. Simulations are created in FLOW-3D. The purpose of this thesis is to determine whether the construction of trap profile is feasible.

The diploma thesis The Sports and Relaxation Center in Vsetin, Ohrada, is located in the South part of Vsetin, where is currently spartakiad stadium. The area borders are from north-east a highway 1/57, from north-west a river Vsetinska Becva and along the river a cycle route. The south border forms a area of waterworks. The town Vsetin is the meeting and starting point for many visitors from the Valachian. The main goal of this project is facilitate this place, make a place for many sport activities, interconnect the highway 1/57 with a river and cycle route, create a base to leisure activities make a more comfortable and atractiv surroundings along the river. The surroundings built-up area is not compact and the highway 1/57 crosses and defines our area. In front of the enter the area is located a sports hall. The borders between highway and sport places makes a terrain bank, which is in the north part combined with kindergarten, on the south part are located buidldings of temporary accomodation and tennis club. The starting points to cycle route are located near these buildings. Between these buildings are located a sport places, courts, fields, playgrounds with a proper facilities.

Diploma thesis of was preceded by a specialized studio focused on the development of urban-architectural design in the area of "Vsetín - Ohrada". The newly created objects have the a task of transform the whole territory, which nowadays deteriorate. The solved area is separated by the highest industrial zone from the edge of the city and after the connection to the urban area. The whole sports complex is conceived as an independent urban complex, mainly linked to the surrounding nature. These are cycle paths that are designed for the entire area. The center is designed for the needs of the population of Vsetín and its catchment areas. Sports, recreational options for all ages. The grassy wall divides the river from the city and reflects the calm zone by the river, and at the same time divides large flat areas. In addition to sports, the area offers wellness, gastro and meeting places. The advantage of this place is cycling trail parallel to the beautiful nature. Moreover, the grassy wall is used to hide service roads and parking spaces. This ensures excellent transport accessibility and supply, but does not interfere with the sports complex. Wall created from excavations of single buildings and demolition works of the original stadium will achieve a safe transition from one sports ground to another, creating a natural observation post and incorporating buildings and sports facilities to become part of the wall and form a single unit. By embedding buildings in the wall, the buildings visually diminish. The embedded sports ground is bounded on two sides by a rampart and the third by a staircase. It can be used as a grandstand, or to enter the ridge of the dike. This minimizes the need for unsightly fencing on each pitch. With the new concept we will meet the requirements of visitors in the given locality and, above all, the attractiveness of the whole area will be increased.

This thesis deals with the utilization of the heavy horses in the forest distrikt Dolní Bečva, which is part of the forest management area Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. The work deals with the skidding of timber by heavy horses in the woods compared to other technologies. The work is evaluated by nature, production and economic conditions related to the skidding of wood horses. It also show a detailed overview of the work done by horses for the years 2011, 2012, 2013, when the horses were in 2011 skidded 8332,23 m3 total of 2541,13 cubic meters from stump to roadside and 5791,1 m3 from roadside to skid road, in 2012 were horses skidded 7197,21 m3 total of 2202,78 cubic meters from stump to roadside and 4994,43 m3 from roadside to skid road and in 2013 were horses skidded 4589,92 m3 total of 1621,55 cubic meters from stump to roadside and 2968,37 m3 from roadside to skid road.

Frequent floods of the Bečva River with increasingly more dramatic progress represent a growing threat to the region. The high cost of the solution is connected with it. This fact makes every reasonable individual think of how to prevent the floods or at least mitigate the effects on inhabitants´ lives, the regional economy and the natural environment. In 1997, there was almost no effective way to warn and protect inhabitants against the sudden arrival of flood waters. The absence of these measures kick-started changes in the field of crisis management. Although the floods of 2006 did not impact the area I am dealing with, they have definitely revealed the effectiveness and the positive trends of safety measures in population protection development. More dramatic flooding of the Becva River in 2010, tested the preparedness of not only the flood authorities, IZS (Emergency and Rescue Services), but practically all the region's inhabitants. The aim of this work is to discover if the 1997 floods started adequate flood control construction in the region, their current state and future plans. I would like to present and compare three of the most interesting studies concerning the Bečva river flood controls.

The object of this thesis is the evaluation of the restoration potential of small hydraulic structures for increasing water retention in river floodplain by using 2D HEC-RAS hydraulic model. A former millrace of the Rožnovská Bečva River was used for the design of restoration measures. The restoration proposal consists of partial modification of the current millrace and new close-to-nature watercourse in the agricultural floodplain. Restoration proposal also includes changes in land use, which consist of grassing and afforestation. The input data used for the hydraulic model are digital terrain model (5G) by ČÚZK, surface roughness parameter and mean hourly discharge data of 1997 (Q100) and 2007 (Q5) flood events provided by CHMI. The results of the hydraulic simulations point to the positive effect of proposed restoration measures especially in the change of flooded volumes (3x higher) and flooded areas (2x higher). The results indicate that restoration measures lead to the flooding from the newly designed watercourse that precedes the flooding from the Rožnovská Bečva River. This brings the possibility of more frequent occurrence of inundation events favourable for water retention in the river floodplain. This thesis focused on the study and treatment of a 19th century female portrait in oil from ECOMUSEU Municipal do Seixal, Portugal. The portrait, which depicts Isabel Maria Lourenço Affonso was in poor condition and a large strip of paint and canvas was missing (approximately 9cm by 66cm, almost 11% of the total surface area). The portrait is a companion piece to a male portrait (the relationship was established as part of this study), therefore a technical study of both paintings was considered essential to support the choices made during the treatment.
The project involved three main areas:
- The study of the history, condition, materials and techniques of both paintings. This allowed their comparison and understanding of their relationship;
- The treatment of Isabel Maria Lourenço Affonso. The choices made and problems encountered are described.
- The production of a replacement for the missing strip of paint and canvas. The practical solution developed to overcome such an unusual challenge is described along with the creative and flexible thinking required.
Because not all traditional infill materials cope well on a mechanical level with thin layers over a very large surface (many are too brittle), strict criteria had to be employed to choose the appropriate material. The primary goal was to find a fill which would remain flexible and be capable of accepting surface texture, such that there would be a good visual match with the painting. Analysis and testing was carried out to evaluate the physical properties of the fill material chosen, BEVA® Gesso-P.
The successful creation of the replacement strip has resulted in two publications and one presentation:

This thesis project concentrated on both the study and treatment of an early 20th century male portrait in oil from Colecção Caixa Geral de Depósitos, Lisbon, Portugal. The portrait of Januário Correia de Almeida, exhibits a tear (approximately 4.0 cm by 2.3 cm) associated with paint loss on the right upper side, where it is possible to observe an unusually thick size layer (approximately 50 microns) and an open weave mesh canvas. Size layers made from animal glue remain subject to severe dimensional changes due to changes in relative humidity (RH), thereby affecting the stability of the painting. In this case, the response to moisture of the size layer is minimal and the painting is largely uncracked with very little active flaking. This suggests that the size layer has undergone pre-treatment to render it unresponsive to moisture or water. Reconstructions based on late nineteenth century recipes using historically appropriate materials are used to explore various options for modifying the characteristics of gelatine, some of which may relate to the Portrait’s size layer.
The thesis is separated into two parts:
Part 1: Describes the history, condition, materials and techniques of the painting. It also details the treatment of Januário Correia de Almeida as well as the choices made and problems encountered during the treatment.
Part 2: Discusses the history of commercial gelatine production, the choice of the appropriate animal source to extract the collagen to produce reconstructions of the portrait’s size layer as well as the characterization of selected reconstructions.
The execution of a shallow textured infill led to one publication and one presentation:
