Abstract:
The last 30 years of brewing history in Slovakia were the most turbulent ones. They were influenced by the liquidation of some beer production as well as privatization, integration and acquisitions of global beer producers. As a reaction to the uniform taste of beer produced by the global producers, numerous small craft breweries emerged in Slovakia trying to return the specific beer taste to the regions. Their importance may also be involved in the development of popular beer tourism through beer routes in addition to the fragmentation of the Slovak brewing industry. The aim of this paper is

The purpose of this article is to explore the role of cycling tourism in promoting sustainable urban mobility and environmentally friendly tourism practices, with a focus on the Czech Republic. The study investigates the motivations, behaviors, and preferences of cycling tourists, particularly in the post-COVID-19 context. Findings reveal that relaxation and exploring new destinations are primary motivations for cyclists, who favor dedicated cycling paths over mixed road traffic. Generation Z tends to use bicycles for leisure activities with friends, rather than for long-distance touring. Cont

Abstract Calcium carbonate scale deposition is a major problem in industrial cooling systems. In most cases it reduces the overall flow rate, limits thermal exchanges and in some cases may even lead to a complete shutdown of the installations. Various chemical additives have been proposed to inhibit scale deposits. Due to more and more severe ecological constraints, the use of biodegradable inhibitors has some promising prospects. Polyaspartate as a green scale inhibitor can be prepared by different synthetic routes. Preparation conditions influence both scale inhibition efficiency and biodegr

Abstract In the physical design of integrated circuits, global and detailed routing are critical stages involving the determination of the interconnected paths of each net on a circuit while satisfying the design constraints. Existing actual routers as well as routability predictors either have to resort to expensive approaches that lead to high computational times, or use heuristics that do not generalize well. Even though new, learning-based routing methods have been proposed to address this need, requirements on labelled data and difficulties in addressing complex design rule constraints ha

In the context of agricultural aircraft usage, not enough attention has been paid to the efficiency study of the routes in agricultural operations. Aircraft are used in agriculture to perform various treatments on agricultural land. Presumptions in this study are that a land is divided into parcels and one type of treatment must be performed on these parcels. Also, the considered operation is performed by the agricultural aircraft and the size of the analyzed land implies th

An interesting, potentially useful, and fully replicable application of a spatially enabled decision model is presented for pipeline route optimization. This paper models the pipeline route optimization problem as a function of engineering and environmental design criteria. The engineering requirements mostly deal with capital, operational and maintenance costs, whereas environmental considerations ensure preservation of nature, natural resources and social integration. Typically, pipelines are routed in straight lines, to the extent possible, to minimize the capital construction costs. In con

In the last few decades, the southern route’s use for drug trafficking gained prominence as increased law enforcement and unrest in the Middle East made the traditional ‘Balkan route’ less viable. This southern route transports drugs, mainly heroin, from its production in Afghanistan to Pakistan or Iran, to eastern Africa – including Tanzania and Mozambique- and consequently to South Africa, after which it is moved to Europe (Aucoin, 2018; Otto & Jernberg, 2020). Notable targets of trafficking via the southern route have been the United Kingdom, Belgium, and the Netherlands (UNDOC, 2015).

After discussing the key stylized facts of dollarization and dedollarization in the region, we discuss the risks this process poses to the region. In particular, we explore the validity of concerns about the effectiveness of monetary policy in a dollarized economy and about a loss of seigniorage revenue in such an economy. After concluding that to a large extent these concerns lack empirical support, we focus on the main reason for concern
