The population of healthcare centres includes patients with disabilities. Until recently, the parameters of their movement during evacuation remain unknown. A training evacuation (not announced for patients) is performed to determine these parameters. It is found that the parameters of the people movement, which determine the estimated evacuation time, are significantly lower than those of healthy people, or they are unable to move independently (in a hospital). The time of the beginning of the evacuation has not been studied in the literature. This paper presents for the first time the result

New teachers in a southeast Texas school district are having difficulty using their time effectively for instruction while balancing a multitude of tasks. This thesis argues that people create their own ‘temporal collages’ in order to balance competing and conflicting demands for time. It uses British Quakers as a case study. From the mid-twentieth century to 2008 the nature of work and family life have changed considerably, and this thesis shows how British Quakers balance those worldly changes in order to remain faithful and involved with the Religious Society of Friends. The Society is in numerical decline, has no paid clergy and relies heavily on time given voluntarily as service. Democratised relationships enable commitment in friendship ne

Abstract What is the cost of Tank Linings? Are we able to answer this properly, do we take into account all the factors and do we see the main cost driver? It is a well known fact that time is money, and if we take into account the cost of being out of service or a delay in beginning operations then the cost of time is far greater than individual costs of producing equipment and coating them. This paper looks into the possibility to save time during the coating operation of tanks, but not at the cost of the performance of the coating. Why and when railroad axles started to rotate is the subject of this report. Stevens’ locomotive exhibited in the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago is called the first locomotive to run on a track in America in 1825 and has stationary axles. Regional nowcasting is already challenging because the release delay on regional data tends to be greater than that at the national level, and "short" data imply a "ragged edge" at both the beginning and the end of regional data sets, which

We study the impact on learning of a child's rank in the classroom using a unique experiment from Ecuador. Within each school, students were randomly assigned to classrooms in every grade between kindergarten and 6th grade. Therefore, two students with the same ability can have different classroom ranks because of the (random) peer composition of their classroom. To isolate the impact of rank from other peer influences we include classroom fixed effects.
