For decades, neuroscience has greatly contributed to our foundational understanding of human behavior. More recently, the findings and methods of neuroscience have been applied to study the process of decision-making in order to offer advanced insights into the neural mechanisms that influence economic and consumer choices. In this thesis, I will address how customized marketing strategies can be enriched through the integration of consumer neuroscience, an integrative field anchored in the biological, cognitive and affective mechanisms of consumer behavior. With the growth of fashion consumption through websites and e-tailers, the question of when and why consumers engage in shopping without the intent to purchase has gained new relevance. A novel framework for understanding this phenomenon comes from studies examining the neural basis of aesthetic appreciation. Previous studies in neuroaesthetics have identified brain regions associated with value and reward, including the nucleus accumbens (NAcc) and ventromedial prefrontal cortex (VMPFC), as involved during attractiveness judgments even when no physical product is consumed. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a set of human developmental disorders that affects ~1 in 68 children. The clinical features of ASD include deficits in social behavior and frequent co-morbidity of motor, emotional and sensory impairment. Currently, there are no effective treatments. A major obstacle for treating ASD is the limited knowledge of the neuronal circuits that drive these complex behaviors. Several monogenic, or single-gene, disorders that possess similar features to ASD have been identified, implicating a role for molecular pathways in the development of these behavioral circuit

Abstract:
During slow-wave sleep (SWS), traces of neuronal activity patterns from preceding behavior can be observed in rat hippocampus and neocortex. The spontaneous reactivation of these patterns is manifested as the reinstatement of the distribution of pairwise firing rate correlations within a population of simultaneously recorded neurons. The effects of behavioral state (quiet wakefulness, SWS and REM), interactions between two successive spatial experiences, and global modulation during 200 Hz EEG "ripples" on pattern reinstatement were studied in CA1 pyramidal cell population recordings. Abstract Quantum cognition applies quantum probability theory and mathematical principles from quantum mechanics to model human decision-making, reasoning, and cognitive processes beyond the constraints of classical probability models. Traditional decision theories, such as expected utility theory and Bayesian inference, struggle to explain context-dependent reasoning, preference reversals, order effects, and cognitive biases observed in human behavior. By incorporating superposition, interference, and entanglement, quantum cognitive models offer a probabilistic framework that better accounts

Abstract:
Optogenetics is a biotechnological method that combines optical systems and genetic engineering to control and monitor the functions of cells, tissues, and organisms. It involves using light-sensitive proteins called opsins to manipulate specific cells or regions with precision. This technique has revolutionized neuroscience, allowing researchers to study neural circuits and behavior by turning cells on and off. Opsins are categorized into microbial and animal types, each with specific functions. Optogenetic experiments require opsins, suitable plasmids or viral vectors, and a light source. Th
