In the modern multi-linguistic concept of Belarus culture, neo-latin poetry represents an important component. The inclusion in the 1960s of the Latinist poet Nikolai Gusovskij, alongside other Renaissance poets, in Belarusian literature contributed to the growth of the national consciousness of the Russified and Sovietized Belarusians. However, the first translations of The Poem of the Bison in Belarusian and Russian, which showed clear signs of a tendentiousness aimed at adapting the text to the socio-political situation of Soviet times, remain canonical, despite the presence of new translations.

On some aspects of Sasha Filipenko’s and Viktor Martinovich’s prose reception in Western and Central Europe. Sasha Filipenko and Viktor Martinovich can be seen as the faces of Belarusian literature in Europe, but they both occupy a specific and ambiguous place in the Belarusian literary process. The article will discuss the way the Western and Central European media represent the writers themselves, the nomination strategies, the political dimension of their representations and the way these representations correlate with authors’ self-representation. It will then discuss the literary qualities of their books which are highlighted by reviewers in relevant media.

Abstract:
For Belarusian literature, the perception of Dante’s work assumes a concrete form only at the beginning of the 20th century and is linked, above all, to the names of Janka Kupala and Maksim Bahdanovič. The literary group “Uzvyšša”, established in Belarus in 1926, and the work of Jasep Pušča ushered in the second wave of interest in Dante. After the war we find Dante’s reception in the work of Uladzimir Karatkevič, Maksim Tank and others. Finally, in 1997 comes the first translation into Belarusian of the Divine Comedy by Uladzimir Skarynkin, who also translated Vita Nova in 2011. The translation from Latin of Dante’s treatise De vulgari eloquentia was completed by the author of this article and published in 2004.

Abstract:
The article provides an overview of Belarusian autobiographical prose at the turn of the 20th–21st centuries. in terms of genres and forms variety presented in it. The features of the presence of the author’s consciousness in a literary text are shown. Also identified and characterized are such genres as memoirs, diaries, autobiography, epistolary. Attention is drawn to the autobiographical prose of Yanka Bryl (the book “I write as I live”), Ales Adamovich (the story “VIXI”), the diary of Boris Mikulich, “Confession” by Sergei Grakhovsky, “Confession” by Larisa Genyush. The originality of these literary materials, in which the national principle is strongly reflected, is noted. A common feature of writers is the desire to convey the dynamics of the historical process, the course of events that they witnessed.

Abstract The chapter dwells on the cultural landscape of Soviet Belarus, one of the national republics of the USSR, most strongly transformed by post-war industrialization and urbanization as well as cultural and national standardization. The focus lies on the late 1960s and the 1970s, the time when the first informal groups of literati and artists got together, and the alternatives to the utopian project of Soviet socialism (which was seen rather as dystopian) were formulated and realized in literature and art. One of the alternatives that are discussed in more detail is the construction of the national counter-utopia, an ideal nation-state relying on partly discovered and revised, partly imagined, and invented historical tradition.

Abstract:
This article aims to study the situation of the Belarusian language as the main ethno-determining factor in the development of the Belarusian people as part of interwar Poland and the attitude towards it from the Communist Party of Poland (СPP) and its constituent, the Communist Party of Western Belarus (СPWB). Based on a wide range of historical sources, including archival documents, the author illustrates the ambiguity of the language policy of Poland as part of its national policy, and reveals the positive role of the Belarusian language in organizing and strengthening the communist movement in Western Belarus. The work shows the ambiguity of the attitude towards the Belarusian culture and language on the part of the Communist Party of Poland, which officially advocated the national and cultural interests of the Belarusian population, and how it used the Belarusian language and personnel to strengthen their positions. At the same time, it demonstrated national chauvinism and selfishness in relation to Belarusian national-political priorities, fearing the strengthening of the Belarusian factor in political life and the loss of its influence in the region. As a result, the leadership of the Communist Party of Poland secretly resorted to restricting the presence of the Belarusian language in the communist movement of Western Belarus, hindering the organization of underground Belarusian printing, and restricting the creation and distribution of Belarusian communist literature, helping to weaken the struggle for the interests of the Belarusian people in Poland.

THE HOME ARMY IN THE EVALUATION OF LITERATURE AND THE BELARUSIAN POLITICAL DOCTRINE IN THE FIRST DECADE AFTER THE COLLAPSE OF THE SOVIET UNION This work focuses on the negative attitude which is dominant in contemporary Belarusian literature towards the actions of the Home Army in the German-occupied areas of the Nowogródek and Polesie provinces. Currently, Belarusian literature describes these activities in the same way as Soviet literature – it denies Poles the right to conduct independent military operations in, as they call it, “temporarily occupied Western districts of the Belarus Socialist Soviet Republic”. Home Army soldiers, later citizens of the BSRS, most of them repressed during the Stalinist era, are currently not given any rights of WWII veterans. The article presents the unsuccessful efforts by the Union of Poles in Belarus to grant the few members of the Home Army such rights with the so-called rehabilitation of those sentenced in 1944-1956 for participation in the Polish resistance.

The article reveals the creative portrait of Larisa Genyush, who occupies a significant place in the Belarusian literature of the 20th century. The characteristic of her poetry is given. The translations of a number of poems by L. Genyush made by the author of the study are presented. Particular attention is paid to the diary of the poetess “Confession,” which was published as a separate book in 1993. “Confession” is an important evidence of the life of L. Geniyush. The definitions and the essence of such concepts as "a branch", "a mobile library", and "a lending point" as applied to the historical realities of the 1960s and the first half of the 1970s, are revealed in the reference literature. On the basis of archival documents the forms of outreach services which were used in the Belarusian Republican Scientific Agricultural Library during the mentioned period were revealed; the number and places of functioning (names) of each of the forms of outreach service by years were determined.
