ABSTRACTWe investigate the production of relative clauses in Italian children aged 3 years, 4 months to 8 years, 10 months and in adults, focusing on object relatives (ORs). For both adults and older children, we test the production of passive ORs (PORs) as an alternative to the production of active ORs. We also test the comprehension of active ORs and PORs in older children, showing that the comprehension of the latter is significantly more accurate than the former. The persistent difficulty that children experience with ORs is interpreted as due to intervention, following Friedmann, Belletti

AbstractThis study examines the comprehension of relative clauses by Chinese-speaking children, and evaluates the validity of the predictions of the Dependency Locality Theory (Gibson, 1998, 2000) and the Relativized Minimality approach (Friedmann, Belletti & Rizzi, 2009). One hundred and twenty children from three to eight years of age were tested by using a character–sentence matching task. We found a preference for subject relative clauses that persists as children grow older. This preference is predicted by the Relativized Minimality approach, but not by the Dependency Locality Theory.

The number of rare diseases is estimated at roughly 7,000 but there are also longstanding medical conditions that elude diagnosis and could be identified as rare. Objectives:Demonstrate the importance of international research in orphan diseases. Methods:We report a case of 44 y/o female patient who arrived to our observation in 2006. Abstract Background: Over the last years, the management of patients with node positive early breast cancer has gone through important innovations. On the medical side, new targeted therapies such as olaparib and abemaciclib have been introduced, with promising results on the invasive disease-free survival. Moreover, sparing axillary lymph node dissection has proven to be noninferior in terms of overall survival. However, no tools are currently available to predict lymph node involvement before definitive surgical evaluation. The aim of the study was to analyze clinical and pathological charac

Abstract Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a relatively uncommon malignancy; however, its incidence is rising worldwide, and it is expected to become the second-leading cause of cancer-related death by 2030. From a histological point of view, PDAC is characterized by a prominent desmoplastic reaction that compresses blood vessels, limiting oxygen and nutrient availability in the tumor microenvironment. Despite that, PDAC cells are capable to adapt dynamically to these stress conditions, adopting different strategies that includes the strict regulation of the autophagic flux. Thus, stu

Although triple negative and HER2 positive subtypes are enriched in Y patients, the hormone receptor (HR) positive subtype (luminal, LBC) remains the most common. A thorough understanding of LBC biology in Y women has not been reached yet, also hampered by lack of appropriate models that faithfully recapitulate these tumors in molecular and preclinical studies. However, real-time molecular changes during ET according to PR status are still not fully understood. The aim of this study was to examine the prognostic impact of PR and its association with the methylation levels of ESR1 promoters A (promA) and B (promB) at different timepoints in pts with ERpos HER2neg MBC who received first-line ET.

It shows that non-target-consistent bare verb structures in child JC have distributional properties which have been claimed to be hallmarks of RI: in particular, they occur in declaratives (and in yes-no questions), but not in wh-questions, and they typically co-occur wit

Several explanations of how topics are derived have been proposed, which fall into three categories: the base-generation approach, the mixed approach and the movement approach. In this study, we conducted two experiments to examine the island sensitivity of topic constructions in Chinese, bringing novel evidence to adjudicate the different approaches to topicalization in this language. The results indicate that island effects can be detected in both gapped and gapless topic constructions, which s
