Abstract:

Šiame straipsnyje pristatomo tyrimo tikslas – atskleisti benamių asmenų patirties ir savęs vertinimo sąsajas. Siekiama ne tik apskritai ištirti benamių asmenų savęs vertinimą, bet ir išsiaiškinti, kaip benamių savęs vertinimas susijęs su jų socialinėmis ir demografinėmis charakteristikomis, šeiminiais ryšiais ir benamystės patirtimi. Pirmoje straipsnio dalyje aprašoma savęs vertinimo samprata bei benamių asmenų savęs vertinimo ypatumai. Antroje – pagrindinėje – dalyje pristatomi benamių apklausos, atliktos Vilniaus ir Panevėžio miestuose, rezultatai.Tyrimas padėjo atskleisti ne tik bendrą benamių asmenų charakteristiką, bet ir parodė jų savęs vertinimo lygį. Išsiaiškinta, kad benamių asmenų savęs vertinimas yra žemas arba vidutinis. Benamiai asmenys, nors ir pakankamai teigiamai žiūri į save, linkę sutikti, kad kartais jaučiasi nieko verti, ir norėtų labiau save gerbti. Benamiai asmenys, nors ir sutinka, kad turi gerų savybių, darbus atlieka taip pat gerai kaip ir kiti, tačiau įsitikinę, kad turi nedaug kuo didžiuotis. Benamių asmenų savęs vertinimas statistiškai reikšmingai susijęs su alkoholio vartojimu. Daugiau alkoholio vartojantys asmenys pasižymi žemesne saviverte. Benamių asmenų savęs vertinimas statistiškai reikšmingai susijęs su sveikatos įverčiu. Blogesne sveikata besiskundžiantys benamiai asmenys turi žemesnę savivertę. Savęs vertinimas statistiškai reikšmingai susijęs su išsilavinimu. Aukštesnį išsilavinimą turintys asmenys save vertina geriau. Tyrime nebuvo gauta statistiškai reikšmingų benamių asmenų savęs vertinimo ir socialinių ryšių duomenų. Vilniaus ir Panevėžio benamių asmenų savęs vertinimas statistiškai reikšmingai skiriasi. Panevėžyje gyvenančių benamių savivertė yra žemesnė nei gyvenančių Vilniuje. Tai gali lemti, kad Panevėžyje benamiai vartoja statistiškai reikšmingai daugiau alkoholio ir skundžiasi prasta sveikata.

Abstract:

Šis straipsnis yra parašytas remiantis autorių atliktais tyrimais bendradarbiaujant su FEANTSA (Nacionalinių organizacijų, dirbančių su benamiais, Europos federacija). Daugelyje Europos Sąjungos senųjų narių benamių problemos pradėtos viešinti, o vėliau ir spręsti praėjusio šimtmečio septintuoju-aštuntuoju dešimtmečiu. Lietuvoje, Latvijoje ir Estijoje apie benamystę kaip socialinę problemą pradėta kalbėti tik paskutinio praėjusio dešimtmečio viduryje. Per šiuos keturiolika metų visuomenės ir valdžios dėmesys benamystės problemai išgyveno tris etapus: 1) iki 1995 metų benamystės problemą neigiama ir ignoruojama; 2) 1995-2005 metais – problema pripažįstama, siūlomos pirmosios priemonės jai spręsti (per 2001 metų surašymą bandyta įvertinti benamių skaičių), priimti teisiniai dokumentai ir numatomos priemonės; 3) po 2005 metų problema mažai akcentuojama, prioritetas teikiamas kitoms socialinėms problemoms. Tai atsispindi visų trijų Baltijos šalių vyriausybių priimtuose nacionaliniuose socialinės aprėpties priemonių planuose, tarp kurių 2004-2006 metų plane keliama benamių problema ir numatytos priemonės, o vėlesni planai suteikia prioritetą šeimos, vaikų skurdo mažinimo, užimtumo didinimo klausimams. Straipsnyje nagrinėjami trijų šalių būsto politikos bei benamystės problemų sprendimo panašumai ir skirtumai bei Europos sąjungos įtaka, pasireiškianti sudarant nacionalinius socialinės aprėpties didinimo planus ir vykdant numatytas priemones. Visų trijų Baltijos šalių benamystės politikoje akcentuojamas apgyvendinimas. Nakvynės namai – tai pagrindinė benamiams teikiama paslauga. Ši priemonė yra būtina, bet, deja, nėra integruojanti. Straipsnio pabaigoje pateikiama siūlymų, kaip galima plėsti socialinių paslaugų įvairovę, pabrėžiamas šios grupės gyventojų įtraukimas į visuomenę ir darbo rinką.

Abstract:

Straipsnyje analizuojamas benamių atskirties procesas ir jo etapai, nagrinėjami pagrindiniai atskirties formavimosi lygmenys ir veiksniai. Parodoma, kad benamių atskirtį lemia ne tik jų sunki materialinė padėtis ir nutrūkę socialiniai ryšiai, bet ir nepakankamai efektyvi valstybės socialinė politika bei pačių benamių asmeninės dvasinės savybės, lemiančios jų stigmatizaciją ir atstūmimą. Socialinė benamių atskirtis yra dvipusis procesas: viena vertus, ją sąlygoja paties žmogaus asmenybės struktūra ir elgsena, kita vertus – socialinė aplinka, kurioje jis gyvena.

Abstract:

Democratic governance empowers and provides citizens the opportunity to live a life of their free will. Unfortunately, Pakistans democracy is confronted with numerous challenges. Among these challenges, governance issues are worthy of attention. The paper especially focuses on PPPs first tenure under Benazir Bhutto in terms of its commitment to democratic governance. It was expected that the norms of democracy would be strengthened, and the country would never see dictatorial rule again in any manifestation. This paper examines PPPs style of governance keeping in view its fragile position in the parliament and the all-over hostile working environment in the country in 1988-90. Centreprovincial relationship; especially Punjab, has also been taken into account. The study explores Benazirs claims and struggles for strengthening democracy. Furthermore, the paper highlights those factors that made the party to fulfil its commitments and to bring the systm of good governance in Pakistan.

Abstract:

Abstract: Pakistan, since independence, there are differences of opinion among the Muslims of Pakistan consisting of secularists, moderate Islamists about how should the implementation of the Islamic politics in Pakistan, giving rise to a prolonged political crisis when today. Pakistan's political turmoil unending birth Pakistani women politicians and thinkers, namely Benazir Bhutto. This paper will focus on the study of Benazir Bhutto thinking about the relationship between Islam and democration in Pakistan. Based on the results of the study, there are some findings: First, Benazir with thoughts that category substantivistik and relatively conflict with Muslim-majority Pakistan (traditionalists and fundamentalists), the ideas in tune with existence, articulation, and a manifestation of Islamic values are intrinsic in the climate modern democrations. Second, the idea of Benazir is a counter discourse to the idea that idealized which Islam should be the political system. Benazir thinking is in line with the paradigm who saw that Islam does not lay down a standard pattern of the theory of the political system must be organized by the people, except for the values and ethical principles. الملخص :كانت في باكستان – منذ حرّيتها – خلافات الآراء عند المسلمين بين العلمانيين والمتوسطين والإسلاميين عن كيفية تطبيق السياسة الإسلامية في باكستان حتى أدّت إلى النزاع السياسيّ الطويل إلى الآن. وظهرت في هذه الفترة النزاعية مفكّرة وسياسيّة بينزر بوطو. حاولت هذه المقالة التركيز في دراسة أفكارها عن التصالح الإسلامي والديموقراطية في باكستان. حصلت هذه الدراسة على النتائج : أولا، كانت بينزر بوطو بما لها من أفكار تميل إلى الأصالة وأفكارها متعارضة بأغلبية المسلمين التقاليديين والأصوليين، وكانت أفكارها موافقة بمكانة القيم الإسلامية الأصيلة وتمثيلها وتطبيقها في ضوء الديموقراطية الحديثة. ثانيا إن هذه الأفكار كردّ تجاه الفكرة المؤيّدة ليكون الإسلام أساسا للدولة. كانت هذه الأفكار تواكب بفكرة أن الإسلام لا يضع نظرية معيّنة لبناء الدولة يعتنقها المسلمون إلا الأسس العامة فقط والقيم فيها. Abstrak: Pakistan, sejak kemerdekaannya, terdapat perbedaan pendapat dikalangan kaum muslim Pakistan yang terdiri dari kelompok sekular, moderat dan Islamis tentang bagaimana implementasi Islam politik di Pakistan, sehingga menimbulkan kemelut kekuasaan yang berkepanjangan hingga kini. Ditengah kemelut politik Pakistan yang tidak berkesudahan tersebut lahirlah politisi dan pemikir perempuan Pakistan, yakni Benazir Bhutto. Tulisan ini akan memfokuskan kajian pada pemikiran Benazir Bhutto tentang rekonsiliasi Islam dan demokrasi di Pakistan. Berdasarkan hasil kajian, terdapat beberapa temuan, yaitu: Pertama, Benazir dengan pemikirannya yang termasuk kategori substantivistik dan tergolong bertentangan dengan mayoritas muslim Pakistan (tradisionalis dan fundamentalis) ini, gagasannya selaras dengan eksistensi, artikulasi, dan manifestasi nilai-nilai Islam yang instrinsik dalam iklim demokrasi modern. Kedua, gagasan Benazir merupakan counter wacana terhadap pemikiran yang mengidealkan bahwa Islam harus menjadi dasar negara. Pemikiran Benazir ini selaras dengan paradigma yang melihat bahwa Islam tidak meletakkan suatu pola baku tentang teori sistem politik yang harus diselenggarakan oleh umatnya, kecuali nilai-nilai dan prinsip-prinsip etisnya.

Abstract:

Abstract: This article discusses about democracy in Pakistan by Benazir Bhutto. The realization of democracy in Pakistan, according to Benazir Bhutto, is to reach all the democratic elements of the Pakistani nations, the business communities, to release all of the political prisoners, to make the print and electronic media free, to open and uncensored, to remove the ban on sororities and labor, to separate the judicial functions of the executive, and to provide the basis for a fair electoral process. The other leaderships of women in Pakistan’s democracy by Benazir Bhutto, are appointing some women to sit in the cabinet and set up the Ministry of Women Development, creating the program of study in the universities for women, founding the Women Development Bank to provide credit only for the women entrepreneurs, creating institutions to train women in family planning, nutrition counseling, child care, and birth control. Democracy in Pakistan is a liberal democracy which is characterized by a moderate Islam, by recruiting people who are competent to sit in the government, eliminating and restricting military power, reactivating the role of civil society in accordance with the government’s program.Keywords: Democracy, Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto.

Abstract:

Over the past several centuries, the town of Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh has celebrated the loves of the pastoral god Kṛṣṇa and his beloved Rādhā. Numerous saints and devotional authors have contributed to the rich cultural heritage of this Hindu holy land, all doing much to strengthen its position as a centre for one of the most important streams of religious feeling in India. However, despite the theological claims of universal liberation from mundane preoccupations said to result from such religious feeling, the Vaiṣṇavism of Vrindavan shows the same susceptibility to human rivalry that can be detected in other religious movements. This rivalry takes the form of controversies which have not yet been entirely resolved. In this article and another which follows it, I undertake to address a triad of such controversies, well aware that the matters are still sensitive ones for both the parties involved: the Rādhāvallabhī followers of Hita Harivaṃśa, and the Gauḍīyas, followers of Caitanya Mahāprabhu. The chief matter contested by these devotees is the authorship of a book well-loved by both sects: the Rādhārasasudhānidhi (RRSN), ascribed to Hita Harivaṃśa by his followers in the Rādhāvallabhī tradition and to Prabodhānanda Sarasvatī by the Gauḍīyas. Before treating this question, however, one is obliged to confront two others: one concerns the identity of Prabodhānanda, the second that of Hita Harivaṃśa's relation to the Gauḍīya school. Both of these personalities are claimed by each of the sects to have, at one time or another, accepted allegiance to their own group.

Abstract:

Abstract Restrictions on the freedom of speech and press, along with the unavailability of competitive printing solutions in Nepal under the Rana regime, caused the centre of gravity of scholarly activities to shift to India. A number of Nepali intellectuals, who came from a variety of backgrounds and had various reasons for having migrated to India, were involved in writing and publishing starting by the end of the 19th century. In those days Benares had few if any peers among Indian cities as a centre of local traditions of education and Sanskrit learning, and as a spiritual, economic and literary destination for Nepalis. Benares, which occupies a special place in Nepali history for its immense contribution to the country’s cultural, social, literary and political evolution, was also the main hub of Nepali print entrepreneurs. This article will delve into early such entrepreneurs and an array of Nepali printing activities in Benares before 1950.

Abstract:

That India once had a sustained ‘dialogue’ with Scottish Philosophy is not gener- ally known, or that the exchange occurred in the medium of Sanskrit, not English. The essay explores an important cross-cultural encounter in the colonial context of mid 19th-century Benares where two Scots, John Muir and James Ballantyne, served as principals of a Sanskrit college established by the East India Company. Educated toward the end of the Scottish Enlightenment, they endeavoured to translate such distinctive concepts of ‘Scotch Metaphysics’ as Externalism into Indian philosophical categories. The ensuing ‘dialogue’ with Brahmin interlocutors shows that the prob- lems they faced were less terminological than conceptual, having to do with contras- tive ways of understanding ‘mind’ and ‘man’. Between the two Scots, there were also signifi cant differences, although both had gone to India as Scottish Calvinists. While Muir remained largely impervious to Indian infl uence, Ballantyne was profoundly changed, becoming, in effect, a ‘Vedantic Calvinist’.

Abstract:

Sushruta has been regarded as one of the pioneers of surgery. He performed procedures with crude surgical instruments that paved the path for today's operations. However, his existence is shrouded in myth and mystery. Sushruta belonged to a rich heritage of learned scholars and practiced and taught surgery at Benares University around 600BC. His work is assembled into a monumental thesis, possibly the first text book on surgery, the ‘Sushruta Samhita’ where he describes surgical instruments, procedures, illnesses, medicinal plants and preparation, dissection and the study of human anatomy, embryology and fractures. Sushruta is perhaps best known for the nasal reconstruction flap which is still used in different versions. For all his contributions, he has been aptly titled ‘Father of Plastic Surgery’.
