Abstract:
This article considers the work of the late Swedish painter Dick Bengtsson. It is conceived in an attempt to locate Bengtsson’s complex use of surface beyond the discourse of ‘sign games’ that has largely surrounded his practice to date. In addressing the limitations of a postmodern agenda concerned with Bengtsson’s prowess as a particular type of conceptual artist, this article explores his use of materials within individual artworks to elucidate less developed dimensions within his production.

AbstractIt is established by electrophoretic analysis and morphological examination that Parameletus chelifer and P. minor are two separate species. A redescription of the major life-stages of the two species is given together with notes on the distribution in northern Fennoscandia. Keys to adult and nymphal stages are given for Fennoscandian species of the family Siphlonuridae. Lectotypes are designated by the senior author for P. chelifer Bengtsson and P. minor (Bengtsson).

The documented wide distribution of M. alter in Fennoscandia indicates that it previously has been confused with M. borealis.

Population samples from these two species, and from H. fuscogrisea and H. joernensis were studied with enzyme electrophoresis. The results show that H. sulphurea and H. dalecarlica have taxon-specific alleles indicating that they are closely related but reproductively isolated species. They are only distantly related to the other two Heptagenia species examined.

Abstract:
Based on the extensive material recently collected on the Island of Rhodos, Greece (terra typica) in May, 2005, a redescription of Procloeon (Pseudocentroptilum) fascicaudale (Sowa, 1985) is presented. Larval characters are completed, female subimago described and the egg chorionic structures illustrated by means of scanning electron microscopy for the first time. Variability in color patterns and critical characters distinguishing eggs, larvae and male imagines from other Westpalaearctic species of the subgenus Pseudocentroptilum Bogoescu, 1947 (the representatives of the Procloeon (Pseudocen

A detailed morphological description of the larval stage of Acentrella glareosa sp. nov. and Acentrella charadra sp. nov. from the genus Acentrella Bengtsson, 1912 is given. Their differential diagnoses are provided with regard to other Palaearctic representatives of the genus. A. glareosa sp. nov. can be distinguished from the related species by the unique shape of maxillary palp, the arrangement of the bristles on it’s legs (the presence of bilateral ciliation and the second ventral row of tibial bristles) and vestigial paracercus. A. charadra sp. nov. is characterized mainly by the presence

Abstract:
Interactions of quantum systems with their environment play a crucial role in resource-theoretic approaches to thermodynamics in the microscopic regime. Here, we analyze the possible state transitions in the presence of "small" heat baths of bounded dimension and energy. We show that for operations on quantum systems with fully degenerate Hamiltonian (noisy operations), all possible state transitions can be realized exactly with a bath that is of the same size as the system or smaller, which proves a quantum version of Horn's lemma as conjectured by Bengtsson and Zyczkowski. On the other hand,
