New nickel-based catalysts for carbon-carbon bond formation reactions were synthesized and tested. The catalysts were found to be effective, but not strongly influenced by changes in the catalyst structure. During the course of this work, an organic precursor was found to catalyse the decomposition of dimethylsulfoxide. A product of the decomposition was isolated in good yield and identified. This product was found to be a useful reagent for epoxidation reactions.

Tetrachlorodiethyl Benzimidazo Carbocyanine (TDBC) layers are very interesting for photonics applications due to their huge oscillator strength, narrow absorption, local photo-bleaching, and low-cost fabrication. They are mainly used in strong coupling studies, but also for light concentration, absorption enhancement, and so on. However, these intrinsic properties are still not very well understood and need to be investigated to fully exploit the high potential of this material, especially regarding the bleaching properties.

A new charge transfer (CT) complex, Benzimidazol-3-ium furan-2-carboxylate (2FBI) was prepared and a method employed to purify solid compounds low temperature solution growth technique at comfortable temperature. The charge transfer compound was depicted using CHN analysis, Ultraviolet visible spectra, IR spectra, 1H NMR spectra, and thermal behavior. Thermogravimetric (TG) and differential thermal analysis are used to study its biological activities, including its antibacterial activity, which showed significant capacity against S. aureus and E. coli.
