Abstract:
Remembering the migration. Intersectional perspectives on the Nordic Museum’s collections and selections of immigrant narratives e Swedish self-image has been transformed in recent decades from the self-image of a homogeneous country with immigrants to a self-perception of a multicultural society. In this article we investigate how memory institutions contribute to constructing and dissolving the boundaries of the Swedish community by including or excluding immigrants in the constructions of a national self-perception. e ongoing collection ”Remembering the Migration” at the Nordic Museum constitutes the empi- rical case study. e current collection and previous collections of different immigrant narratives at the museum are examples of documentation of subjective experiences and interpretations of the mul- ticultural society in Sweden against a background of increased migration in the postwar period. Our analysis concludes that the collection, ”Remembering the Migration” has an including per- spective. ere is an outspoken objective to incorporate the immigrants’ stories about migration in the common historiography and the national cultural heritage in multicultural Sweden. However, our study also shows that the questionnaire used in the collection lacks questions about experiences of discrimination or racism and thereby contributes to recreating a tacit narrative about Sweden as an inclusive and non-racist country or nation. is self-perception is also generated at the website of the Museum, where a selection of 17 collected narratives are published. In general none of these stories tell about experiences of racism or discrimination. On the contrary, most narrators in these narratives position themselves as well-included in Swedish society, mostly through their personal efforts of hard work and/or ambitious studies. However, our study indicates that this including, multicultural and non-racist self-perception is questioned and negotiated by some people who submitted their life stories and rather reveals that Sweden is characterized by, and has previously been characterized by, both inclusion and exclusion in relation to migrants. Furthermore our ana- lysis of the published excerpts from the life stories reveals that exclusion could also be experienced from gender and class positions as well as in some cases also on the basis of ethnicity.

Abstract:
”Work until you collapse, then we’ll throw you out if you don’t manage to escape before”: Social workers’ narratives about breaking up from the workplace. During the last few decades, several studies have shown that social workers have unfair working conditions which have led to both ill-health and increased turnover. A central aim of the article is to shed light on the break-up narratives of 31 social workers who have left their workplaces due to discontent with the organization. In terms of theory, the study draws upon a discursive narrative approach – how language is used to accomplish social actions. e aim of study is to analyse how the social workers narrate their working conditions, what they convey and how they construct a professional identity. Findings show that the social workers: (1) by rhetorical resources such as details, extreme case formulations, metaphorical expressions etc. illustrate an unsustainable work- ing situation; (2) convey criticism and testify to a lack of trust/reliance in their relation to organi- zational agents when the agents ignore calls for improvements, their communication is decient and dominated by blame and a call for loyalty; and (3) construct their identity by establishing a we-ness when talking about professional ethics and a collegial solidarity.

Abstract:
Accidents with police vehicles continue to increase. However, little is known about the police's own experiences of critical events during emergency driving. To contribute to increased understanding of emergency driving, the study's purpose was to investigate how policemen describe their experiences of the emergency driving. In this study, we used a semistructured interview guide to investigate how five policemen talked about their experiences. Through narrative analysis of the interviews, similarities and differences of critical events during emergency driving were investigated. We identified five recurring themes, so-called narrative types: the will to capture, to drive fast, difficulties in questioning a colleague's driving style, deciding when high speeds are justified, and finding the balance in emergency driving to experience control. These five types gave a good understanding of how the policemen talked about unexpected events that created risky situations in their service. Similarities in the stories mostly concerned behaviors and attitudes. The differences consisted mainly of circumstances, such as how the start-up began and what information the police received or did not receive during the reprisal. The differences were linked to the possible consequences of the expression based on theories of decision making, risk awareness and injury prevention. Furthermore, the results indicated that the experience of emergency driving was dynamic and varied with contextual conditions.

Augustinsson, Rebecka.

Abstract:
The purpose is to use complexity theories to describe, interpret and understand teacher's everyday life. An everyday life where the predictable and the unpredictable exist in parallel. In relation to the teacher's everyday life and complexity theories, scientific basis and evidence are discussed. To show a cohesive complexity, the study has a narrative approach. A narrative approach is close to the structure of everyday life where the known and the unknown exist in symbiosis. To collect rich stories about the teacher's everyday life, qualitative interviews were used as a method. The result shows the circular causality that exists in non-linear systems. The teacher's everyday life contains many different processes that create a high degree of complexity. Some key processes are communication, relationships and complexity that are closely linked. Words that have in common the local interaction that includes the social as well as material things where there are possibilities of action. It is the multilateral job description that, among other things, creates the complexity of teachers' everyday lives. Structures and routines are important in order to be able to reduce the complexity of everyday life to a certain extent. Further on to deal with the paradox between control and non-control. Based on complexity theories, structures must contain the opportunity to be interpreted, adapted and translated to the practice. The school is a non-linear system and evidence-based practice is based on a linear system. In order to be able to interact with the practice, government investment in school to increase a more scientific ground. One of these projects is called, “läslyftet”. These projects need to take into account the processes and the unique in the practice. The study's contribution is to use complexity theories to show other perspectives on how change can take place in school. Specifically, how scientific basis and evidence can interact in the complex practice. Furthermore, show how complexity theories can help to make it possible to find new paths to development within school.
