Abstract:
Abstract This article explores the causes for and the contemporary ramifications of the realignment of the American South with the Republican Party. Using the American National Election Surveys (ANES) Time Series Cumulative Data File (1948–2016), the 2016 and 2020 Blair Center Polls, and the election tracking data compiled by Richard Berg-Andersson and Tony Roza at www.thegreenpapers.com, the author first explores the role that racial animus, anti-feminism, and religious fundamentalism played in white southern voters’ emergence as the Republican Party base. Second, the author considers the structural advantages that this prominence in the GOP gives southern whites in the primary nomination process and to what degree these advantages benefitted Donald Trump in 2016. Finally, the author explores the influence of Racial Resentment, Modern Sexism, and Christian Fundamentalism on the 2016 Republican primary elections and the 2016 and 2020 General Elections.

Fehringer, Carol. "Wie wär's mit einem richtigen Mädelsabend? Plural -s within Compounds in Colloquial Northern German." Journal of Germanic Linguistics 21, no. 2 (June 2009): 149–65. http://dx.doi.org/10.1017/s1470542709000233.

Abstract:
In standard German, the non-occurrence of -s plurals as the first element of a lexical compound (e.g., *Auto-s-berg ‘heap of cars') vs. the regular occurrence of the other plural suffixes (e.g., Kind-er-club ‘children's club', Frau-en-fete 'women's party') has often been quoted as evidence for a dual mechanism model of morphology, which sees irregular forms as stored in the mental lexicon while regular forms are generated by rule (see Marcus et al. 1995). However, in colloquial northern German, where the s-plural is more widely used than in the standard language, it is possible to form productive compounds containing this suffix (e.g., Mädel-s-treff ‘girls’ meeting'). This paper investigates to what extent -s plurals are acceptable within compounds in colloquial northern German, whether they are subject to any linguistic constraints (for example, morphological or phonological), and what implications they might have for current morphological theory.*

Abstract:
In the past 10-15 years, the consumption of illegal drugs has increased significantly both in Hungary and in our county. In parallel with the society's getting more and more open, the fulfilment of personal freedom, and the spreading of globalisation and individual culture, the use of drugs has become more and more accessible and acceptable to the young. This study briefly overviews the family background and problems of provincial young people consuming drugs. I have studied 3 problems within this topic: family structure, relations with parents, and family members' drug consumption behaviour. I suppose that family problems are connected with the interviewees' alcohol and other drug consumption. In my research I apply the Euroadad questionnaire. The sample covers 144 interviewees, 76.9% of whom have been "diverted" from jurisdiction. The other respondents have volunteered for the therapy.I have processed the data with the SPSS statistical program package. Having studied the respondents' family structure, I have found no significant difference regarding the co-habitation data for the past 30 days or the past year. The family members' alcohol and drug consumption bears a greater relation to the use of legal drugs than of prohibited ones. The family problems related to parents are connected to the young people's prohibited and legal drug consumption, and fathers play a particularly stressed role. The groups of party drug and amphetamine consumers struggle with more family problems than the groups of marijuana users.

Bachmann, Kaspar F., Christian Vetter, Lars Wenzel, Christoph Konrad, and Andreas P. Vogt. "Implementation and Evaluation of a Web-Based Distribution System For Anesthesia Department Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures: Qualitative Study and Content Analysis." Journal of Medical Internet Research 21, no. 8 (August 15, 2019): e14482. http://dx.doi.org/10.2196/14482.

Abstract:
Background Digitization is spreading exponentially in medical care, with improved availability of electronic devices. Guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs) form an important part of daily clinical routine, and adherence is associated with improved outcomes. Objective This study aimed to evaluate a digital solution for the maintenance and distribution of SOPs and guidelines in 2 different anesthesiology departments in Switzerland. Methods A content management system (CMS), WordPress, was set up in 2 tertiary-level hospitals within 1 year: the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the Kantonsspital Lucerne in Lucerne, Switzerland, as an open-access system, followed by a similar system for internal usage in the Department of Anaesthesiology and Pain Medicine of the Inselspital, Bern University Hospital, in Bern, Switzerland. We analyzed the requirements and implementation processes needed to successfully set up these systems, and we evaluated the systems’ impact by analyzing content and usage. Results The systems’ generated exportable metadata, such as traffic and content. Analysis of the exported metadata showed that the Lucerne website had 269 pages managed by 44 users, with 88,124 visits per month (worldwide access possible), and the Bern website had 341 pages managed by 35 users, with 1765 visits per month (access only possible from within the institution). Creation of an open-access system resulted in third-party interest in the published guidelines and SOPs. The implementation process can be performed over the course of 1 year and setup and maintenance costs are low. Conclusions A CMS, such as WordPress, is a suitable solution for distributing and managing guidelines and SOPs. Content is easily accessible and is accessed frequently. Metadata from the system allow live monitoring of usage and suggest that the system be accepted and appreciated by the users. In the future, Web-based solutions could be an important tool to handle guidelines and SOPs, but further studies are needed to assess the effect of these systems.

Abstract:
The political and cultural landscape of the years after World War II are explored in relation to the deradicalization of one-time revolutionary intellectuals. The transformation of Stalinism into a kind of “Red Fascism” is one aspect, along with the activities of the intellectuals in the American Committee for Cultural Freedom and in relation to McCarthyism. The problem of apostasy is addressed by looking at intellectuals such as Sidney Hook, Will Herberg, Felix Morrow, Jean van Heijenoort, and many more. On the other hand, the sectarianism associated with orthodoxy is treated in regard to the evolution of the Socialist Workers Party and the conflict with Bert Cochran as well as the career of George Novack.

Abstract:
Duke Charles’s harassment of Geneva from the 1510s led to the arrest and execution of leading councillors and the formation of a pro-Swiss party, the Eidguenots, led by Besançon Hugues. Savoy claimed the office of justiciar (vidomne) by virtue of its imperial vicariate, which also threatened the rights of the bishop, whose supporters styled themselves Mammelus, though many were pro-Savoy. In 1519, prompted by refugees from the city, Fribourg concluded a Burgrecht with Geneva, whereupon Savoy laid siege to Geneva. The Burgrecht was rescinded, but renewed aggression against Lausanne led to a Burgrecht between it and Bern and Fribourg in 1525, followed by another with Geneva in 1526. By then Duke Charles had abandoned neutrality as Savoy lent towards Emperor Charles V, much to the chagrin of France.

This chapter describes Rollini's side activities while he had a contract with Bert Lown. He was in demand as a party in recording sessions for his musical ideas, his ability to contribute a thorough bass line together with swinging solos. His first date was with a small group directed by piano player Rube Bloom.Next was Leo Reisman's large dance band, which through the addition of ex-Duke Ellington trumpet player Bubber Miley, produced some outstanding recordings. Others included Red Nichols and Miff Mole as well as a row of singers: Jack Kaufman, Jack Miller, Lee Morse, Buddy Rogers, and Eddie Walters and Ethel Waters. There were follow-up dates with Rube Bloom, Annette Hanshaw, and Joe Venuti. His side jobs made Rollini a busy man.

Abstract:
Democratic rule of law and the foundations of the democratic system in the discourse of the Sejm of the 10th termThe June elections in 1989, as a result of which representatives of the then contemporary opposition circles were introduced to the Po-lish parliament, radically changed the Sejm’s political and legal di-scourse. As a consequence of the December Novelization of Decem-ber 29, 1989, that is the amendment to the Constitution of the Polish People’s Republic of July 22, 1952, the principle of a democratic state ruled by law came into force rejecting the provisions on the leading role of the communist party as well as the alliance with the USSR. Undoubtedly, the changes of the second half of 1989 were a conti-nuation of the changes of the first half of 1989, which then resulted in the so -called April Novelization. Importantly, in the first half of 1989, the arrangements made during the Round Table negotiations initiated the transition, and draft amendments to the constitution were developed by the Council of State. In turn, in the second half of 1989 (i.e. after the so -called June elections), before the debate in the Sejm forum and later in the Senate forum took place, proposals for consti-tutional changes were presented in parliamentary texts, which were the subject of a parliamentary initiative. The aim of this thesis is to present the most important Sejm documents containing the then po-stulates relating to radical changes within the constitution. Particular attention should be paid to the issue of the principle of a democratic rule of law underpinning the new political and legal system.
