Abstract:
Although William Blake was highly eclectic and drawing from multifarious sources, religious system, philosophical thoughts and traditions, the Bible was Blake’s most predominant concern. Throughout his life of meticulous and tedious composite art Blake aimed at decoding the Bible as the Great Code of Art for helping people to be imaginative and visionary like Jesus Christ. Both in his complex and sophisticated prophetic works, meant for the illuminated people, and in his deceptively simple lyrics of the Songs of Innocence and of Experience, meant for the rank and file of society, Blake did keep this up. The present study is an attempt to focus on this element, by delving deep into the texts and designs of the Introductions of Songs of Innocence as well as of Songs of Experience, inevitably considering the totality of Blake’s works and in the special context of their marked allegiance or affinity to the themes and symbols from the Bible. Blake visualized a blend of lamblike meekness and mildness with the ferocity of tigers of wrath for having the human form divine perfect.

This issue contains papers delivered over a period of five years at the annual International Jewish-Christian Bible Week held at Haus Ohrbeck, Osnabrück, Germany. Each year during the opening evening I offered a ten-minute introduction to the texts that we would be studying. This article includes the introductions to each of the five sets of texts that were studied: Kohelet (Ecclesiastes), 2015; Psalms 107–118, 2016; Mishlei (Proverbs), 2017; selected passages marking the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Week, 2018; Psalms 119–134, 2019. They include general overviews of specific passages, and sometimes questions that might be addressed in the daily study groups that are held during the Week. Each was intended, according to the nature of the texts, to provide a welcome to the more than one hundred participants attending the Week and establish something of the unique character of the programme of textual study and interfaith dialogue.

Abstract Publication of the first fascicle (Megillot) of a new critical edition of the Hebrew Bible, Biblia Hebraica Quinta, invites comment on the use of Targum by its editors. This short survey outlines the contents of BHQ, noting provision of introductions to the ancient versions of each biblical book; along with commentaries on the critical apparatus. Unlike earlier critical editions, BHQ makes extensive use of Targumim of the Megillot: several examples are set out and discussed. Despite some minor weaknesses in the presentation of Targumic material, BHQ represents a major change of attitude towards Targum, which specialists will welcome.

The paper discusses paratexts, their use and prevalence in translations of the Bible in Latvian, with a particular focus on the last translation that was published in 2012. Paratexts are used to improve the perception of the main text and may include introductions, prefaces, postfaces, footnotes, side notes (marginalia), endnotes, glossaries, indexes and appendixes. Though the translation of the Bible, being a canonical text, is subject to various limitations, there is an increasing tendency to use more footnotes to explain various phenomena: information about the original texts, different variants of the Bible manuscripts, the existence or nonexistence of some verses; cultural words and facts – explanations about units of measurement, old objects, concepts, geographical and historical information; linguistic information: explanations of polysemy, decoding of words, etymologies of place names, semantics, wordplay; and alternative translations offered by the translator. The author suggests a glossary that could inform the reader of the Biblical characters, place names and the new transcription of many proper names. Footnotes could then dwell on linguistic issues.

Examination of the contribution of Casiodoro de Reina and Cipriano de V alera to the vemacular language must be made in the context of three cultural currents that shook the European Renaissance period and found equal expression in the Spain of that time: Erasmianism, Refomúsm and Biblicism. Moreover, the use of the vernacular Ianguage by these two authors needs to be viewed from a broad historical-linguist perspective which allows one to view both the influence they received from the previous traclition, through translations of the Bible into Spanish, as well as the use they made of the Spanish language. Their contributions to the Spanish language have been made through the two translations of the Bible they made, and which were accomplished with the ideas and criteria presented in their respective introductions to the text named Amonestadón y Exhortadón.

Le livre grec d'"Esther" présente un certain nombre de traits particuliers à l'intérieur de la Bible grecque. Il s'agit d'une forme longue : le grec comporte six passages, les "additions", absents de l'hébreu. Sa tradition textuelle, très complexe, fait apparaître l'existence de trois formes différentes, dont une n'est connue qu'en traduction latine. Toutes ces formes ont été prises en compte, analysées et mises en relation avec les traditions d'interprétation du livre qui furent élaborées plus tard par le judai͏̈sme rabbinique. Bien souvent, elles constituent les plus anciennes attestations de traditions d'exégèse bien connues ultérieurement. Les caracéristiques propres de chacune, traits de vocabulaire et structure, ont également été analysées. Les premières lectures suscitées par le livre grec dans les milieux juifs et chrétiens des premiers siècles ont été exposées et commentées.

Aux environs de 400, interrompant son de Trinitate, Augustin rédige le de Consensu Euangelistarum en quatre livres afin de résoudre les difficultés d'incohérence posées par les textes des quatre évangiles. Dans le livre I, il expose son but et éclaire la personnalité de Jésus, thème des évangiles, et de chacun des auteurs. Dans les livres II et III, il met en application une méthode d'étude des textes permettant de les étudier du point de vue de leur cohérence interne et externe. Le livre II traite de l'enfance et de la vie publique de Jésus jusqu'à la Cène; le livre III, qui est l'objet de cette thèse, a trait aux évènement de la Passion, de la Résurrection et de l'Ascension. Le livre IV enfin traite des passages solitaires de Marc. Aprés avoir présenté une nouvelle traduction annotée du livre III de cet ouvrage, la dernière en Français remontant au 19e siècle, cette thèse propose dans un premier temps une étude sur les contradictions des évangiles dans les quatre premiers siècles de l'histoire du christianisme ainsi qu'un point sur l'état de la question synoptique qui en découle. Dans un second temps, elle envisage l'oeuvre d'Augustin du point de vue de sa composition, de ses sources, de la méthode exégétique employée et du traitement des citations du Nouveau Testament. Ce dernier exposé conduit à se poser la question sur l'identité du texte latin du Nouveau Testament utilisé par Augustin. Enfin une rapide étude sur la postérité de cette oeuvre permet de lui redonner son importance dans la perspective de l'histoire des contradictions des évangiles
At the end of the fourth century, interrumpting his de Trinitate, Augustine started to write his de Consensu Euangelistarum in four books I order to adress an answer to difficulties generated by some apparent incoherences found in the Gospels. In the first book, he explain his aim and lightens the personnality of Jesus, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. In the second and third book, Augustine developps his method for analysing the texts considering his special point of view regarding their internal coherency. The childhood and the public life of Jesus are the subjects of the secon book and following a natural chonology, the evnts of his Passion, Resurrection and Ascension are the themes of the third book which constitutes the scope of this thesis. The fourth book has been dedicated to the texts written by Mark and for which there is no connection with the three other evangelists. After having proposed a new translation for the third de Consensu book, the lastest french translation dating from the 19th century, this thesis gives a study of how the gospels' contradictions have been analysed by the authors during the first four centuries. Furthermore, this thesis takes stock of the synoptic problem. Then tis third book of Consensu Euangelistarum is considered regarding to its construction, sources exegetic method and quotation of the New Testament. This last study leads us to a reflexion concerning the identity of the latin text of the New Testament used by Augustine. Finally the de Consensu posterity study presented in this thesis highlights its important impact on the history of the Gospels' contradictions

Les lollards, hérétiques anglais disciples de John Wyclif, sont apparus à la fin du quatorzième siècle. Ils accordaient une importance capitale à l'étude du texte biblique et ont produit plusieurs ouvrages exégétiques dont les "Glossed Gospels". Ces commentaires sur les évangiles, entièrement dérivatifs, traduits du latin, n'ont jamais été édités. Cette thèse contient une édition critique des versets de Luc utilisés pour les sermons dominicaux. Un apparat traditionnel (références bibliques et variantes), des notes textuelles, lexicales et syntaxiques, un glossaire détaillé et un index scripturaire sont fournis. L'introduction tente de découvrir comment un travail aussi long et complexe a été pensé et exécuté. Elle aborde la relation des lollards avec le message biblique, la description des manuscrits, la comparaison avec les originaux (textes latins et bible wyclifienne), la genèse des "Glossed Gospels", les relations entre les manuscrits et le caractère hérétique de certains passages.

Abstract:
Introduction: Cerebrotendinous xanthomatosis (CTX) is a rare neurological entity, which consists of an autosomal recessive inherited disorder of bile acid biosynthesis due to CYP27A1 variants, with variable systemic and neurological clinical presentation. Psychiatric signs are also observed at early adulthood and includes behavioral and personality changes, depression and psychosis. However, self-mutilation has not been previously described. Case report: We attend to two sisters with a unique clinical presentation. The first patient, 33 years old, presented epilepsy at 17, in addition to cognitive impairment and tendon xanthomas. A severe depressive condition was established at 25. A year ago, she had frequent bites on his lips and tongue. The second patient, 28 years old, had chronic diarrhea and juvenile cataract in childhood. Axial ataxia has been observed since age 18. After 3 years, she presented psychiatric decline marked by visual, auditory hallucinations and persecutory delirium. Four months ago she showed signs of self-mutilation with a sting in the phalanges of his hands. Both patients had elevated plasma cholestanol and 7-dehydro-cholesterol. The genetic test showed a homozygous c.1183 C>T (p.Arg395Cys) variant in the CYP27A1 gene. Conclusion: The reports illustrate the relevance of self-mutilation in CTX, an unprecedented clinical presentation that should be remembered as another differential diagnosis with this phenomenology.
