Abstract:
The lexicographical information resources are being studied by many scientific disciplines: the library science, bibliography, bibliology, lexicography, etc. The author examines the polar-opposite opinions regarding the terms “typology” and “classification”, i. e. their synonymity or absolute demarcation. As a result of scholarly discussions, the terms “bibliotypology” and “typological classification”, “typology of classification”, “typology of typologies”, etc., emerged. The major problems of classification/typology of lexicographical information resources are analyzed. These problems hinder the reference and bibliographic user services. The problems embrace comprehension of modern lexicographical processes, diversity of classifications/typologies, dictionary boom, rise in the number of dictionaries, their types and genres, typological and aspectual synonymity of dictionaries, etc. The solutions for these types of information resources are suggested (integrated studies by lexicographers, linguists, information and library scientists; identification of major groups of characteristics to be used in classification/typology of lexicographical information resources, etc.). The author’s alphabet explanatory synonymic glossary “The vectors of modern national lexicography” [in Russian] and the alphabet union synonymic bibliography “The modern dictionaries of the Russian language” comprise the terms essential for reference and bibliographic services when executing queries of lexicographical and socio-humanitarian character.

Abstract:
Classification as a cultural artifact serves an epistemological role as disseminator of the culture it embodies. A theory of classification interaction has been proposed that would combine empirical iterations of bibliographic characteristics as factors interacting with traditional conceptual elements in classifications. Nine million UDC numbers extracted from the OCLC WorldCat are sampled and deconstructed, to look for correlations with content-designated components of the associated bibliographic records. Chi-squared is used to locate statistically-significant correlations among nominal-level variables. Results demonstrate a series of footprints of predictable associations. A complex network of associations is revealed and visualized. The results are promising and point to a series of more complex investigations.

Abstract:
The article compares WorldCat’s bibliographic records with prominent theological library holdings to establish a case that comprehensive or non-specialized publications under the LC classification “theology--bibliography” fell sharply after 1990. While many reasons might be given for this, two are examined in depth. First, theological interpretation/methodology shifted away from historical approaches to focus on new concerns and forms of scholarship. The sheer volume and numerous types of information that were published challenged the usefulness of the comprehensive theological--bibliography. Second, technology radically changed the way people read and approach theology. New formats and information access points, made the comprehensive theological bibliography obsolete. The article concludes with a discussion of the present state of bibliography, focusing on ways librarians and bibliographers might be able to create bibliographies going forward.

Abstract:
Abstract The present study contextualizes Ranganathan’s main theoretical contributions to the classification theory and addresses the Five Laws of Library Science. The major milestones in philosophical and bibliographic classifications are presented to show that the classification system has evolved from purely philosophical schemes, which were focused on the systematization of knowledge, into modern bibliographic classification systems. Facet analysis is considered a contribution to the classification process since it allows the use of an approach that encompasses different points of view of the same subject, as opposed to the enumerative systems. This article also discusses Ranganathan’s five fundamental categories, known as Personality, Matter, Energy, Space and Time, and points out to criticism of this form of categorization in the literature. The Spiral of Scientific Method and the Spiral Model of Development of subjects are presented; the latter is the meta-model of the former. The Colon Classification, which was first published in 1933, was also discussed. Finally, the applicability of the faceted classification in today’s world was addressed.

Bibliographic classification is among the core activities of Library & Information Science that brings order and proper management to the holdings of a library. Compared to printed media, digital collections present numerous challenges regarding their preservation, curation, organization and their resource discovery and access. In this regard true native perspective is needed to be adopted for bibliographic classification in digital environments. In this research article, we have investigated and reported different approaches to bibliographic classification of digital collections. The article also contributes two evaluation frameworks that evaluate different classification schemes and elaborate different approaches that exist in theory, in manual practice and automatically in digital environments. The article presents a bird-eye-view for researchers in reaching a generalized and holistic approach towards bibliographic classification research, where new research avenues have been identified.

Abstract:
There is proposed the new method of automated subject classification in a full-sized natural rubricator, that can be applied to ultra short texts. The method is based on the use of the adopted classification decisions, borrowed from bibliographic records. The solutions found are specified by the information received from the classification system, and generalized by different ways. There are considered four options for obtaining classification decision, which differ by the number of failures and the proportion of incorrect results. There is demonstrated successful method for subject analysis of titles of works by LBC divisions. There are considered the problems of bibliographic catalogue and classification system, reducing the result. There are presented possible negative consequences of using automated classification for the quality of bibliographic catalog.

Abstract:
Managerial innovations have become the topic of interest for many scholars, but this concept remains underdeveloped and poorly managed among the academy and business community in Russia. This paper offers the composition of approach to definition and classifi cation of managerial innovations, formed on the basis of exploration of the concept “managerial innovation” evolution, and estimation of the relationship with a more general concept “innovation”. The suggested composition of approach is based on the three-stage bibliographic analysis of scientific literature. In course of the bibliographic research, scientific articles were selected according to the key words, period of publication and citation index. 140 scientific publications were identified and collected for the period from 1975 to 2019 covering citation indexes from 0 to 12 476 by Web of Science citation database and from 4 to 2 185 by Scopus database. On the basis of the conducted bibliographic research, the author introduces his definition of innovation and managerial innovation and explains the connection between them. Within the conducted research different approaches to classification of managerial innovations were studied and on their basis a new approach to classification of managerial innovations was proposed. The findings can be useful for different avenues of further research regarding managerial innovations.

Abstract:
Classification of scientific bibliographic data is an important and increasingly more time-consuming task in a “publish or perish” paradigm where the number of scientific publications is steadily growing. Apart from being a resource-intensive endeavor, manual classification has also been shown to be often performed with a quite high degree of inconsistency. Since many bibliographic databases contain a large number of already classified records supervised machine learning for automated classification might be a solution for handling the increasing volumes of published scientific articles. In this study automated classification of bibliographic data, based on two different machine learning methods; Naive Bayes and Support Vector Machine (SVM), were evaluated. The data used in the study were collected from the Swedish research database SwePub and the features used for training the classifiers were based on abstracts and titles in the bibliographic records. The accuracy achieved ranged between a lowest score of 0.54 and a highest score of 0.84. The classifiers based on Support Vector Machine did consistently receive higher scores than the classifiers based on Naive Bayes. Classification performed at the second level in the hierarchical classification system used clearly resulted in lower scores than classification performed at the first level. Using abstracts as the basis for feature extraction yielded overall better results than using titles, the differences were however very small.

Abstract:
The Integrative Level Classification (ILC) research project is experimenting with a knowledge organization system based on phenomena rather than disciplines. Each phenomenon has a constant notation, which can be combined with that of any other phenomenon in a freely faceted structure. Citation order can express differential focality of the facets. Very specific subjects can have long classmarks, although their complexity is reduced by various devices. Freely faceted classification is being tested by indexing a corpus of about 3300 papers in the interdisciplinary domain of bioacoustics. The subjects of these papers often include phenomena from a wide variety of integrative levels (mechanical waves, animals, behaviour, vessels, fishing, law, ...) as well as information about the methods of study, as predicted in the León Manifesto. The archive is recorded in a MySQL database, and can be fed and searched through PHP Web interfaces. Indexer's work is made easier by mechanisms that suggest possible classes on the basis of matching title words with terms in the ILC schedules, and synthesize automatically the verbal caption corresponding to the classmark being edited. Users can search the archive by selecting and combining values in each facet. Search refinement should be improved, especially for the cases where no record, or too many records, match the faceted query. However, experience is being gained progressively, showing that freely faceted classification by phenomena, theories, and methods is feasible and working.

The importance of the Cordel Popular Literature as a historical and cultural patrimony, mainly to the Brazilian northeast region, made us to develop a study of such literature and its treatment towards a recovery of the libraries´ stores. The study was based on an analysis of the themes approached in the Cordel Popular Literature aiming at an enlargement of the literature class in the bibliographic classification, considering the classification hypothesis called themes cycles proposed by different authors which would make this enlargement possible. The corpus is constituted of one thousand two hundred and fifty Cordel quarters selected, at random, from the five thousand quarters of the Centro de Documentação do Programa de Pesquisa em Literatura Popular of the Universidade Federal da Paraíba. From this corpus, the production of three hundred and forty‐five poets, out of one thousand and seventy‐three writers included in the collection, was analysed. As the theoretical ground, issues concerning popular culture including popular literature, the concept, the origin and the proposed classification are approached. Greimas´ semiotics is the theoretical basis, mainly the discursivity processes, semantics investment and the figurativization to the analysis of the Cordel quarters discourse, as well as the bibliographical classification and the register used to organize the collection documents within the same theme. The analysis of the Cordel quarters made possible the identification and the extraction of the images that lead to the themes, generating twenty‐seven theme classes which may be incorporated to the Popular Literature class in bibliographic classifications as such: Agriculture, Biographies and Celebrities, Bravery, City and Urban Life, Science, Stories, Crime, Culture, Education, Sports, Erotism, witchcraft, Supernatural phenomena, History, Homosexualism, Humour, Harsh Climate, Justice, Environment, Moral, Death, Fight, Power, Politics and Social issues, Religion, Love Story and Health and Illness. Finally, a description of the elaborated thematic classes is presented, allowing the librarians to index the Cordel quarters more accurately and guarantee that the same system or system akin may use the same concepts to represent similar documents, and facilitate, by sharing the same vocabulary, the communication among the indexer, the user and the system.

Abstract: Several current ranking methods compare different publication venues in relation to quality or impact. This information is very important for a researcher to choose renowned venues to publish his research. Institutes could promote their researchers based on the quality of places they have published. This information about the venues can also be valuable for a government to allocate resources to universities, or for companies to evaluate the quality of a candidate for a job. There are other distinct measures to perform a ranking of venues, but the idea in common among most of them is the use of citations. Therefore, despite the fact a venue is very prestigious for its researchers, if it is not indexed in a citation database, it will not be considered, since its "quality" cannot be measured. This work proposes to construct a ranking of publication venues obtaining the information not from a database, but from another data source: the Web. The university professor's webpages are visited to extract the publications. The venue is extracted from each publication, and thus, based on venues which a researcher wanted to show in his webpage, they are ranked. This method will include publication venues that do not exist in current databases, creating a new ranking of publications. Many interesting computational problems are discussed in this work: information search on the internet, text segmentation, extraction of components in a bibliographic citation, and clustering

Abstract:

Abstract:
Soil research offers multiple ways of approach. In the present paper, it has been chosen to study the soil in a well-personalized system, such as the Larga basin. This approach facilitates the understanding of the mechanisms governing the development, spreading and soil properties. The research carried out was based on extensive bibliographic documentation that gave us the necessary information, especially for their typology (correlation of soil types from different classification systems). Correlation with this system ensures the international circulation of soil information in this territory, facilitating participation in international projects.

Abstract:
In this paper we briefly describe an approach for understanding the psychoacoustic and perceptual effects of what we have identified as the high-level spatial properties of 3D audio. The necessity of this study is firstly presented within the context of interactive applications such as Virtual Reality and Human Computer Interfaces. As a result of the bibliographic research in the field we identified the main potential functions of 3D audio spatial stimulation in interactive applications beyond traditional sound spatialization. In the same sense, a classification of the high-level aspects involved in spatial audio stimulation is proposed and explained. Immediately, the case of study, the experimental methodology and the framework are described. Finally, we present the expected results as well as their usefulness within the context of a larger project.

Abstract:
This paper presents an Academic Literacy course designed for first year students in our department. The course is based on a set of relevant reading materials and covers knowledge levels and classification systems, logical and physical library organization principles, physical and virtual search for publications, bibliographic citations and referencing methods and purposes. The paper describes two, out-of-class, activities related to the academic and public libraries in the information age. The first activity, the “Book Hunt”, organizes the students’ conceptions of the variety of functions being served and the impact of information technology on retrieving academic publications. Students’ response to a reflective assignment dealing with concepts and impressions is described. The second activity “Visiting a public library”, involves interviewing the librarian and writing a report on the structure and functions of the library. The paper discusses features of students’ reports and indicates the contribution of the activities to the students’ academic world view.

Abstract:
3D survey and advanced modeling in the study of the Forts of Rome: the Forte Monte AntenneIn the studies the authors are conducting on the entrenched camp of Rome, 3D surveys and digital models are used as means to understand constructions with the aim of developing restoration and re-utilization projects. For Forte Monte Antenne (1882-1891), the authors have carried out systematic studies of the formal and structural aspects. The data acquired from a direct survey and with laser scanner, drone and photogrammetry, integrated with data obtained from iconographic and bibliographic sources, were integrated in the creation of a digital model, which made the classification of the various elements in a structured database possible, including the verification of the relationship among the parts at varying levels, and the system of aeration ducts. Convective motions and the thermo-hygrometric and visual comfort within some of the environments, as well as thermographic surveys of the walls were conducted. The BIM model was integrated, therefore, with a MEP model. The hypothesis of restoration and possible adaptation to new functions cannot disregard the analysis of those parameters which complete the picture of environmental quality and thus of the effective potentials in repurposing of the structure.

In ASME 2009 28th International Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering. ASMEDC, 2009. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/omae2009-79818.

Abstract:
Many floating city projects, both domestic and overseas, have been proposed since the 1960s. However, most of them have never gotten off the ground except for those that found a shape in Japan, all of which were reclamation or landfill types filling the gap of an urban function in the coastal land areas. In this research, we analyzed the social background of offshore cities using a bibliographical survey, concomitantly conducting interviews, extracting the factors of size, function, etc., of the sea city projects, classifying the projects by geopolitical function by using quantification theory, and from the results we are making a proposal as the guidepost indicating the feasibility and directionality of developing the offshore city of the future.
