Abstract This bibliography is the third iteration of a bibliography of women and gender in China studies. The article deals with the question of the positive or negative attitudes of ordinary Russians towards China over a long period of time based on the analysis of social surveys. Despite a fairly extensive bibliography on the subject, so far, no publication has undertaken a systematic review of the results of surveys of Russians on general attitudes towards China, coming from various critically analyzed sources. It is this gap that the article fills.

The article examines the evolution of the worldview of the outstanding Chinese reformer and philosopher Kang Youwei (1858–1927) in the second half of the 1890s. The “Japanese Bibliography” compiled by him in 1897 was a landmark work for the perception of modern scientific terminology in China, and at the same time indicates that on the eve of the Reform Movement of 1898, Kang Youwei still remained in the position of Neo-Confucianism, did not try to synthesize Confucian concepts with contemporary scientific picture of the world and Darwinian evolutionary theory. This research focuses on the historical and architectural analysis of Harbin City, especially on the interpretation of this urban space through historical traces, taking Lao Ding Feng architecture as an example. Much of the history of the city focuses on the Russian and Japanese invasions, so such aspects as architectural styles and the construction of the railway are attributed to the occupation of these countries, more especially to the Russian occupation.
