Mi propongo di presentare l’edizione delle lettere inedite e autografe scritte da Isabella di Capua, principessa di Molfetta. La corrispondenza di 160 lettere ci permette di studiare la vita, finora poco conosciuta, di una donna di grande rilievo del xvi secolo, nota soprattutto per essere stata la consorte di Ferrante Gonzaga, uomo di fiducia del re Carlo V. Nell’epistolario emergono le preoccupazioni, la vita sociale e la sua proiezione pubblica. Le lettere selezionate sono custodite presso l’Archivio di Stato di Modena, Mantova e la Biblioteca Palatina di Parma.

El Baile de quien más ama forma parte del importante fondo de textos teatrales españoles de la colección cc*iv 28033 de la Biblioteca Palatina de Parma. Este estudio prentende dar a conocer un baile del Siglo de Oro anónimo y prácticamente desconocido, y sobre todo colocar la obrita en el contexto del baile como género literario, poniendo de relieve los rasgos constantes del género que la pieza de Parma presenta. Particular atención se reserva a la forma métrica del texto.

AbstractThe MS Parma Biblioteca Palatina 1227 contains a feudal summa which in the MS is ascribed to Jacques de Revigny. Many scholars have, rightly, disputed this attribution, without indicating, however, the name of its true author. Jacobus Balduini is suggested to be the one. This attribution is partly based on a 'profile' made of the summa and its similarity to Balduini's Libellus instructionis advocatorum. It is argued that some elements of the summa may be the work of Benedictus de Isernia, a pupil of Balduini.

Abstract:

Le manuscrit conservé aujourd’hui à la Bibliothèque palatine de Parme sous la cote 718 – sans doute compilé dans le Nord de la France à la fin du XIIIe siècle – contient une copie du De musica de Boèce, jusqu’à présent inconnue des musicologues. On y trouve également le De arithmetica de Boèce et divers traités, parmi lesquels un bref traité sur le monochorde, une série de diagrammes sur la classification des connaissances et un poème sur la position des planètes. Il est intéressant de constater que la combinaison des textes contenus dans le manuscrit de Parme offre une similitude frappante avec une source nettement plus ancienne : le manuscrit Paris BNF lat. 7203, manuscrit d’origine française de la fin du XIe ou du début du XIIe siècle. Le volume de Parme a certainement été copié à partir d’éléments dérivant de ce manuscrit plus ancien. Il apporte un nouvel éclairage sur la transmission des apprentissages dans les domaines de la théorie musicale, de la cosmologie et de l’arithmétique au XIIe et XIIIe siècle.

Un glosario de términos hebreos y sus equivalentes en romance, recopilados de un tratado sobre la lógica y la filosofía compuesto por Maimónides (al-Maqālah fi-ṣināʻat al-manṭiq), circulaba en hebreo aljamiado entre judíos y/o conversos empapados en el humanismo castellano del siglo XV. Este glosario se incluye en una colección de textos que también contiene varias obras literarias de autores conversos, entre ellas, la Visión deleytable de Alfonso de la Torre, extractos de la traducción de las sentenciae de Séneca realizada por Alfonso de Cartagena, y otros tres glosarios de términos de índole aristotélica. La existencia de esta colección en el MS Parma 2666 en la Biblioteca Palatina, Parma, Italia, es testimonio de que lectores judíos y/o conversos del siglo XV (los que podían leer el hebreo aljamiado) leían e interpretaban la Visión deleytable en el contexto de la tradición filosófica árabehebrea que se conocía en la España del siglo XV en traducciones hebreas y latinas. En este artículo examino cómo el vocabulario filosófico elaborado en al-Manṭiq y asequible en romance en el glosario en MS Parma 2666 refleja la epistemología maimonidiana, tal como sobrevivía en un círculo intelectual de conversos/judíos –lectores de la Visión– partícipes de la traducción de las obras de Maimónides y de sus fuentes en el siglo XV.

Abstract:

En este trabajo se plantea la reconstrucción del epistolario privado mantenido entre el español José Nicolás de Azara y su amigo italiano Giambattista Bodoni a partir de la edición de sus cartas y borradores conservados. Se exponen las dificultades y limitaciones histórico-filológicas implícitas debido al trabajo con textos movedizos como las minutas e incluso inciertos, pues no ofrecen un testimonio veraz del supuesto envío ni del texto finalmente escrito. A más, se plantea el problema de la censura, para el caso del archivo de Azara, así como de la autocensura por lo que se refiere al amplio archivo epistolar de Bodoni, custodiado en la Biblioteca Palatina de Parma y en el que puede constatarse una tendencia selectiva en la conservación de documentos, intervención del tipógrafo que constituye un intento claro de moldear su propia memoria futura.

Abstract:

En nous fondant sur les documents trouvés dans les Archives de Parme et dans la Bibliothèque Palatina, nous avons reconstitué ici les démarches qui conduisirent à l'institution de la première chaire de langue française de l'Université de Parme (15 novembre 1803). Le point de départ de cette étude est le décret fondateur du nouvel enseignement, décret inspiré par les stratégies expansionnistes de Napoléon, ainsi que d'ailleurs tout le programme de promotion culturelle que Moreau de Saint-Méry, administrateur des Etats de Parme, Plaisance et Guastalla (1801-1806), réalisa au nom de la République Française. Après avoir pris en considération les aspects techniques de l'opération et avoir tracé une brève biographie d'Antonio Bertuccini, le professeur à qui la chaire fut confiée, nous avons examiné l'organisation du nouveau cours d'enseignement où Ton utilisait la Nuova Grammatica Italiana e Francese (construite sur le modèle du manuel de Goudar), que le même Bertuccini avait élaboré en 1803, à l'usage de la "jeunesse studieuse de l'Université de Parme", celle-là même à qui ses cours devaient s'adresser. Après un rapide examen de cette grammaire, nous l'avons ensuite comparée avec la nouvelle édition de 1810, où apparaissent quelques modifications ou pour mieux dire, quelques ajustements, exclusivement déterminés à notre avis, par le changement du régime politique.

Abstract:

On 11 November 1417, the election at the Council of Constance (1414–18) of Oddo Colonna as Pope Martin V brought to an end a period of almost forty years of instability and crisis within the Church, which had begun with the outbreak of the Schism in 1378. After his consecration, the new pope set out to return to Rome, intending to re-establish there the Holy See, while the Council continued. Martin V entered Rome in September 1420, after travelling through Geneva, Pavia, Mantua, Milan and Florence. In the latter city he resided for almost two years, from 26 February 1419 to 9 September 1420. It was most likely during the pope's residence there that an Italian student in law, Antonio Baldana, wrote and dedicated to him a peculiar work: a narrative of the Schism written in the form of prophecy, in a mixture of prose and verse, Latin and Italian, and accompanied by thirty watercolour illustrations. The only known surviving version of this work is contained in a manuscript now preserved in Parma, Biblioteca Palatina, as MS Parmense 1194. The manuscript has been studied primarily for its iconography, while its musical implications, which form the subject of the present study, have so far passed unnoticed. In fact, as we shall see, Baldana's work is also designed as a framework for a discussion encompassing the disciplines of trivium and quadrivium – a small encyclopedia, where a distinctive connection is drawn between rhetoric, astrology and music.

Abstract:

MS Parma (Italy), Biblioteca Palatina, Parm. 3852, is a twentieth century manuscript comprising a collection of texts related to Saint King Lālibalā, known as the Gadla Lālibalā collection. This manuscript was produced by a scribe named Walda Giyorgis, who was probably a member of the Catholic Church of the Ethiopian Rite. This paper focuses on a single page from that manuscript, f. 118v, which displays a set of elements consisting of ‘titles’—navigational elements that help to structure liturgical readings. The introductory part was developed from an earlier manuscript bearing the same content, produced at the end of the seventeenth century for the church of Golgotā in Roha-Lālibalā in Lasta, Ethiopia. That manuscript was part of a cultural project aimed at strengthening local identity, and which chose Lālibalā as a patron of the region despite the fact that he had been dubbed a usurper by the ruling dynasty. The manuscript contains navigational elements common in Ethiopic manuscripts, but it is unique because it was produced between 1939 and 1940, when Italy declared the Impero, the Africa Orientale Italiana.
