Les archives et les bibliothèques grecques, déjà étudiées sous l'angle philologique, épigraphique et institutionnel, ont longtemps paru marginales et les données architecturales et matérielles les concernant ont rarement été prises en compte. On a encore moins associé ces institutions dans l'ensemble du monde grec, de leur apparition jusqu'au début de l'époque impériale. Après des rappels sémantiques et historiographiques, sont recensés les sites où ont été identifiées de telles institutions. Les données du catalogue sont ensuite confrontées selon 4 axes. Un essai historique retrace leur évolution, spécialement leur apparition et développement aux époques archaïque et classique, ainsi que l'inflation de documents écrits et l'implication croissante de l'État dans leur conservation aux époques suivantes. Suivent des considérations sur la topographie, l'architecture et la conservation des documents. Le plan des édifices d'archives est peu caractéristique, et tout au plus peut-on noter leur insertion fréquente dans les centres civiques et religieux ou la récurrence d'éléments architecturaux aussi utilisés ailleurs. Les bibliothèques sont plus difficiles à appréhender, trop peu d'entre elles étant localisées. Si certains aménagements pérennes leur sont souvent associés, on les trouve aussi dans d'autres locaux et il peuvent rarement assurer une identification. La majorité du mobilier a disparu et l'ambiguïté sémantique des termes grecs laisse la question ouverte. L'anonymat de ces édifices a poussé à la marginalisation dans l'historiographie grecque d'institutions qui partagent certains caractères avec leur équivalents modernes<br>This dissertation examines the archives and libraries of the Greek world from their buildings and material remains. Greek archives and libraries, already studied by philologists, epigraphists and institutions' historians, have been minimized for a long time, and architectural and material data are rarely considered. Neither have they been studied together in the Greek world, from their appearance to the early imperial period. Semantic and historical summaries are followed by a presentation of sites where such institutions have been identified. Then a synthesis of the catalogue's data is organized through 4 axes. An historical essay describes their evolution, more especially their appearance and development in archaic and classical times, as well as the growth of written documents and the increasing involvement of the State in their preservation in the following periods. Considerations on topography, architecture and preservation of documents follow. No particular features have been detected in the plan of these constructions, though they are frequently established in civic centres and sanctuaries. Libraries are more difficult to characterize as few of them have been identified in the field. If some recurring arrangement are traditionally associated with archives and libraries, they also appear in other buildings and can only exceptionally assure the identification. Furniture has mostly disappeared and the changing meaning of many Greek words leaves the question open. This relative anonymity has often pushed historians to marginalize institutions that share many characteristics with today's equivalents

La première partie de ce travail étudie les manuscrits : styles artistiques (début du quatorzième siècle, les ateliers parisiens subissant l'influence du nord de la France et des Pays-Bas - milieu du quatorzième siècle, manuscrits de luxe ou de série parisiens - vers 1380-1422, l'art international et le patronage de Jean de Berry, quinzième siècle tardif et art flamand), cycles d'illustrations, mise en page et rubrique. La deuxième partie traite du costume (dieux, rois, nobles, lettres, nonnes, peuple, juifs) et du décor (la chambre du poète, l'habitat des vices, le verger : architecture extérieure et intérieure, flore, faune, tour et château fort). La troisième partie aborde les thèmes du roman à travers l'iconographie : le songe (inspire de nativités), les vices (gestes, attributs, sources iconographiques : bas-reliefs de la cathédrale Notre-Dame de paris), le monde courtois (oiseuse et le passage, la carole, la fontaine de narcisse, le poète et l'amour, lutte entre l'amant et ses opposants face à la rose, Jean de Meung)<br>The first part of this work is a study of the manuscripts: artistic styles (beginning of the fourteenth century, parisian workrooms influenced by the north of France and by the Netherlands - middle of the fourteenth century, precious or more ordinary parisian manuscripts - around 1380-1422, international art and the patronage of Jean de Berry, late fifteenth century and flemish art), cycles of illustrations, page setting and rubrication. The second part deals with costume (gods, kings, noblemen and women, scholars, nuns, common people, jews) and setting (the poet's bedroom, the house of the vices, the orchard: exterior and interior architecture, flora and fauna, tower and castle). The third part studies the themes of the romance through the iconography: the dream (inspired by the nativities), the vices (gestures, attributes, iconographical origins : the low-reliefs of the cathedral Notre-Dame de Paris), the courtly world (oiseuse and the passage, the carole, narcissus' fountain, the poet and the god of love, fight between the lover and his opponents near the rosen Jean de Meung)
