Abstract:
O artigo apresenta uma discussão sobre o potencial do método Bick de observação de bebês como método de pesquisa. Desenvolvemos uma descrição do método desde a sua criação, buscando possíveis aproximações com a clínica e com a pesquisa. Além disso, discutimos os aspectos éticos do método Bick de observação aplicado à pesquisa. O método Bick de observação tem conquistado cada vez mais reconhecimento, sendo aplicado à pesquisa, em função de seu potencial de gerar novas idéias e contribuir com discussões teóricas no âmbito da Psicologia do Desenvolvimento e, sobretudo, da Psicanálise.

A presente pesquisa teve como objetivo investigar, a partir de um estudo de caso com o método Bick de observação, a relação entre um bebê e seus cuidadores em sua residência e na creche em um período de quatro meses. O referencial teórico utilizado foi a psicanálise especificamente fundamentadas nas propostas de estudiosos do desenvolvimento humano como Leibovic, Stern, Spitz, Winnicott e Mahler, que concordam que o vínculo formado entre a mãe e seu filho é essencial para o desenvolvimento psíquico do bebê. O estudo foi realizado a partir do método qualitativo, através de um estudo de caso realizado e analisado através do método Bick de observação de bebês, no ambiente familiar e também adaptado em um ambiente institucional: a creche. Nesta versão do método não se acompanhou o período pós-parto imediato, pois o bebê foi observado também na creche na qual ingressou quando já havia completado 07 (sete) meses. Com relação ao tempo de observação, o método original preconiza a duração de dois anos, porém o tempo de observação foi reduzido para quatro meses. Tal adaptação se faz necessária por tratar-se de uma pesquisa ligada ao Programa de Pós-Graduação em Psicologia da Universidade Federal do Pará, com período de atividades e término pré-estabelecidos e não compatíveis com a proposta de Bick. Os dados coletados foram analisados em categorias as quais se seguem: Clarice e seu desenvolvimento emocional, Os cuidados de Clarice: O lar e creche e Clarice Clarificada. Foi analisado também os sentimentos da observadora durante as observações. A creche se apresentou como um contexto de cuidado complementar aos oferecidos pela família de bebê, preenchendo algumas lacunas, mesmo com a roteirização do trabalho sempre presente. No contexto familiar a mãe se mostrou capaz de cuidar de sua filha, proporcionando-lhe um ambiente de afetividade, apesar de todas as dificuldades que a vida lhe oferecia. Assim no recorte temporal das observações, o bebê se desenvolveu saudavelmente enriquecido pela complexidade de suas relações.
The purpose of this research was to investigate from a case study with Bick observation method the relationship between a baby and her caregivers at home and at care day center over a period of four months. The theoretical used was psychoanalysis specifically based on researchers‟ proposals of human development such as Leibovic, Stern, Spitz, Winnicott and Mahler, who are in agreement that the link between a mother and her child is essential to the baby‟s psychic development. This work used qualitative method through a case study conducted and analyzed by the baby observation method Bick in the familiar environment, as well as adapted in an institutional location: the care day center. In this version of the method, the postpartum period was not observed because the baby started to be observed at the care day center when he was seven months. Speaking of observation time, the original method indicates the duration of two years, but in this work this period was reduced to four months. Such adjustment was necessary since the research is linked to Programa de Pós-Graduação em Psicologia at Universidade Federal do Pará therefore period and conclusion of activities were pre-established and not compatible with Bick‟s proposal. The collected data was analyzed in the following categories: Clarice and her emotional development, The care of Clarice: The home and day care and clarified Clarice. Also, the observer‟s feelings were analyzed during the observation. The care day center performed a caution context which supplemented the one offered by the baby‟s family, filling some gaps even with the presence of work routine. In familiar context, the mother was able to take care of her child, offering her an affective environment despite all the difficulty of her life. During the observations, the baby developed healthily enhanced by the complexity of its relationships.
El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo investigar, a partir de un estudio de caso con el método de observación Bick, la relación entre un bebé y sus cuidadores en casa y en la guardería, durante un periodo de cuatro meses. La referencia teórica utilizada fue el psicoanálisis, específicamente el fundamentado en las propuestas de estudiosos del desarrollo humano como Leibovic, Stern, Spitz, Winnicott y Mahler, que coinciden en que el vínculo formado entre madre e hijo es esencial para el desarrollo psíquico del bebé. El estudio se llevó a cabo mediante el método cualitativo, con un análisis de caso a través del método Bick de observación de bebés, en el ambiente familiar, así como adaptado en un ambiente institucional: una guardería. En esta versión no se observó el periodo de postparto ya que el bebé ingresó en la guardería con siete meses de vida. Referente al tiempo de observación, el método original propone una duración de dos años, pero en este trabajo el tiempo fue reducido a cuatro meses. Dicha reducción es necesaria por estar este estudio ligado al programa de Pós-Graduação em Psicologia da Universidade Federal do Pará, haciéndolo incompatible con la propuesta temporal original de Bick. Los datos recogidos fueron analizados en las categorías siguientes: Clarice y su desarrollo emocional, Clarice entre el hogar y la guardería, y Clarice clarificada. Fueron analizados también los sentimientos de la observadora durante las observaciones. La guardería se presentó como un contexto de cuidado complementario a los ofrecidos por la familia del bebé, llenando algunas lagunas, incluso con la rutina del trabajo. En el contexto familiar, la madre se mostró capaz de cuidar su hija, proporcionándole un ambiente de afectividad, a pesar de las dificultades de la vida. Durante las observaciones, el bebé se desarrolló saludablemente enriquecido por la complexidad de sus relaciones.

O presente estudo investigou o desenvolvimento emocional durante o primeiro ano de vida de um bebê, em uma família numerosa. Foi realizado um estudo de caso único, de caráter longitudinal, com uma família participante composta pela mãe, pelo pai e seus quatro filhos meninos, de até 4 anos de idade, acompanhada em observações semanais, com uma hora de duração, no período de doze meses. Foi aplicado o Método Bick de Observação da Relação Mãe- Bebê, em seus três momentos: observação, relato e supervisão em grupo. Os resultados foram organizados em três eixos: 1) o bebê e seu ambiente; 2) o desenvolvimento emocional do bebê; e 3) a observadora. Apesar das condições economicamente desfavoráveis do ambiente, foi surpreendente o desenvolvimento emocional do bebê na família, bem como a riqueza do ambiente em termos emocionais. A mãe se mostrou atenta e afetiva no cuidado dos filhos, apresentando uma capacidade inesgotável de discernir e atender às múltiplas demandas dos mesmos, revelando sua preponderante identidade materna. O bebê recebia especial atenção e a mãe costumava relatar suas habilidades e aquisições ao longo do primeiro ano de vida. Alguns aspectos típicos do desenvolvimento de um bebê no primeiro ano de vida foram observados, assim como particularidades relativas ao contexto de uma família numerosa, de baixa renda. No eixo denominado a observadora, foi relatado o impacto emocional causado pelas observações neste contexto particular. Além de auxiliar no entendimento aprofundado das fases iniciais do desenvolvimento, de forma intensiva e detalhada, acredita-se que a aplicação do Método Bick em pesquisa possa colaborar para conhecer a realidade das famílias antes de propor intervenções em contextos diferenciados.
The present study investigated the emotional development during the first year of a baby’s life, in a large family. A longitudinal single case study was carried out with a family comprising the mother, the father and their four boys, aged up to four years old. They were weekly observed in one-hour observation sessions during twelve months. The Bick Infant Observation Method was applied, in its three moments: observation, written report and group supervision. The results were organized alongside three axes: 1) the baby and his/her environment; 2) the baby’s emotional development; and 3) the observer. In spite of the unfavorable economic environmental conditions, the baby’s emotional development in the family was surprising, as well as the environment’s emotional richness. The mother was shown to be attentive and affective in caring for the children, showing an endless ability to discriminate and attend to the multiple demands of the children, revealing her predominant identity as mother. The baby received special attention, and the mother used to report his/her abilities and acquisitions during his first year of life. Some typical aspects of infant development during the first year of life were observed, as well as particularities concerning the specific context of a large, low income, family. In the axis named the observer, the emotional impact caused by the observations in this particular context was highlighted. Besides helping to understand more deeply the initial developmental phases, in an intensive and detailed way, it is believed that the application of the Bick method may help to know the families’ reality before proposing interventions in specific contexts.

Abstract:
Pulau Biak dan pulau Morotai merupakan dua alternatif lokasi yang dipilih untuk lokasi bandar antariksa, karena letaknya dekat ekuator dan roket dapat diluncurkan ke arah Timur. Bandar antariksa dibangun dengan biaya yang sangat besar sehingga perlu kehatihatian dalam menetapkan lokasinya, untuk itu perlu dikaji tingkat risiko dalam mewujudkannya. Kajian ini mengkaji tingkat risiko di masing-masing lokasi tersebut, dan melakukan komparasi tingkat risiko di kedua lokasi tersebut untuk mengetahui lokasi dengan tingkat risiko terkecil. Menggunakan analisis risiko, diperoleh bahwa ada perbedaan tingkat risiko antara mewujudkan bandar antariksa di pulau Biak dan di pulau Morotai. Dari sebelas variabel risiko yang digunakan terdapat tujuh variabel yang berbeda, dan pulau Biak memiliki tingkat risiko lebih besar dari pada di Morotai. Berdasarkan hasil komparasi diperoleh bahwa lokasi di pulau Morotai lebih baik dari di pulau Biak, karena total nilai tingkat risikonya lebih kecil. Total nilai tingkat risiko di Morotai ialah 69, sedangkan total nilai tingkat risiko di Biak ialah 108.

Tulisan ini mejelaskan kondisi sosial-budaya dan politik di Pulau Biak, pemetaan terhadap elit politik lokal, dan mengidentifikasi karakteristiknya untuk dihubungkan pengaruhnya terhadap rencana pembangunan bandar antariksa. Metodologi yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan studi literatur dan wawancara. Masyarakat di Pulau Biak masih menjunjung nilai adat istiadat, serta banyak elit politik lokal yang memiliki posisi kuat dalam mempengaruhi kebijakan daerah. Berkaitan dengan rencana pembangunan bandar antariksa maka pertanyaan pokok yang akan dijawab dalam artikel ini adalah: Bagaimana Karakteristik Elit Politik Lokal di Pulau Biak dan Sejauh mana Pengaruhnya Terhadap Rencana Pembangunan Bandar Antariksa? Elit politik di Biak tercipta dari kehidupan adat istiadat serta adanya Otonomi Khusus Papua. Elit politik lokal di Pulau Biak dipetakan menjadi 2 kelompok menggunakan teori Pareto, yaitu governing elite dan non-governing elite. Governing elit cenderung berkarakter pro pada rencana pembangunan bandar antariksa, sedangkan nongoverning elite kontra terhadap rencana pembangunan bandar antariksa di Biak. Elit politik lokal di Biak menjadi poin penting dalam mendukung keberlanjutan rencana pembangunan bandar antariksa yang harus diperhatikan. Sehingga rekomendasi dari tulisan ini adalah pentingnya dialog sektoral inklusif diantara elit politik lokal di Biak sebagai langkah optimalisasi peran elit politik lokal Biak dalam proses pembangunan bandar antariksa ke depan. Selain itu rencana pembangunan bandar antariksa juga harus memperhatikan kearifan lokal di Biak sebagai upaya meminimalkan potensi cost and conflict yang akan terjadi.

Abstract:
We aimed to effectively use unutilized rice straw by producing Bio-coke, which is a new briquette (in the rest of this document referred to as the BIC) with high density and hardness, from rice straw with various conditions based on initial water content and processing temperature and evaluated characteristics of rice straw BIC. First of all, the apparent density of BIC was calculated from its weight and volume, and the cold compressive strength for each BIC was measured. From the results, it showed that the relationship between apparent density and maximum compressive strength derived from the compression test had a positive correlation. Furthermore, the hot compressive strength of the BIC produced with 5% initial water content and 453K processing temperature was measured. The rice straw BIC had a maximum compressive strength of 4.8MPa at a high temperature of 973K. This hot maximum compressive strength is equal to about one third of the hot maximum compressive strength of coal coke, which is 12MPa. Also, it was determined that the maximum compressive strength of rice straw BIC is highest on both cold and hot compression tests, and BIC produced from agricultural biomass like rice straw and rice husk had higher maximum compressive strength at room and high temperatures than BIC produced from other materials. Thus, it seemed that fiber and silica contained in agricultural biomass helps maintain of structure of BIC.

Secara faktual ada enam (6) persoalan yang dihadapi Indonesia dalam bidang antariksa. Salah satunya adalah bagaimana dengan pemanfaatan geografi Indonesia sebagai tempat peluncuran satelit yang bisa berdampak pada konstelasi Politik dan keamanan kawasan dan ekonomi nasional. Tulisan ini menjelaskan secara khusus dampak politik pembangunan Peluncuran di pulau Biak, Papua. Hasilnya adalah pembangunan bandar antariksa di Pulau Biak Numfor akan menciptakan Balancing Power dengan Hadirnya investor (Rusia, China dan negara lainnya) dapat menjadikan penyeimbang kekuatan terhadap perusahaan asing di Papua (PT. Freeport) (USA dan Australia). Di samping itu juga terdapat Deterrence Power dalam penguasaan tehnologi peluncuran satelit serta pengembangan dan penelitian satelit bagi Lapan. Abstract:
Bio-coke (BIC, highly densified biomass briquette), a newly developed biomass fuel as an alternative to coal coke which utilized in blast furnace, is employed in this study. This fuel is manufactured in highly compressed and moderate temperature conditions and has advantages in its versatility of biomass resources, high volumetric calorific value and high mechanical strength. Japanese knotweed is chosen as a biomass resource and is shaped into cylinder (48 mm in diameter and 85 mm in length). One of the most important characteristics of BIC is its high apparent density (1300 kg/m3; twice or more than that of an ordinary wood pellet). In the present study, combustion characteristics of a single BIC fuel in high temperature air flow (473–873 K, 550–750 NL/min.) are investigated. Air is preheated and blown to the bottom surface of the BIC. Ignition and subsequent combustion behavior are observed with monitoring gas temperature near the BIC, surface and inside the BIC temperature, and time dependent mass loss of the BIC is measured. In the case with low air temperature, low heat flux from the fuel surface leads to the broad temperature distribution inside the BIC accompanied by the increase in ignition delay time and, then, once ignition takes place degradation rate becomes larger than the case with high temperature air. On the other hand, mass loss rate for the case of solid surface combustion in the high temperature air does not depend on the air temperature but does depend on the air flow rate, which is a result of reduced degradation rate relating to narrow temperature distribution in depth caused by short ignition delay time. Consequently, it is suggested that the history of preheating, i.e. the preheated condition which is determined by air temperature and air flow rate, is an essential factor to determine the ignition mode in the early stage of BIC combustion and the mass burning velocity in the period of main combustion with flame. It is found that the mass loss rate of BIC in the gas-phase combustion period increases with decrease in supplied air temperature in this study.

Abstract:
In this paper we consider the application of a nonlinear energy sink (NES), a passive isolation device, to damp out energy from the low frequency modes of an air-spring supported slab to be installed at Purdue University’s Birck Nanotechnology Center. Analytical expressions to obtain energy sink design parameters, given some primary system specifications, have been derived. These expressions are then used to design the NES for the Birck air-spring supported slab. The designed NES is then analyzed via finite elements to study its efficacy in absorbing low frequency vibration from the slab. The study reveals that NES can serve as a good aid in dissipating vibrational energy induced by small disturbances in the slab.
