Abstract:

English Title: Effect of phytoaccumulation of lead, iron, zinc on Poaceae in Kribi and its surroundingsThe challenge of preserving biodiversity in the context of modernization of industries remains relevant in coastal areas, especially in Kribi, where demography is galloping while pollutants increase. To control the effects of heavy metals in the metabolism of some macrophytes in Kribi, four sample collection sites were identified with two Poaceae, Panicum maximum and Echinochloa colona. With an average water temperature of 25.25 ± 0.17 °C, n = 16; the thermal sensitivity of E. colona leaves is found in relation to P. maximum. The more acidic Kribi site (pH = 4.16 ± 0.02) also contains more lead (1.04 ± 0.01 mg/l). Correlated with chlorophyll and leaves of P. maximum, the amount of chlorophyll accumulated and the number of leaves decrease with increasing lead. This metal causes leaf chlorosis, necrotic lesions, yellowing and foliage drying, for these two Poaceae. Iron is observed more in Bidou stream and increases with maximum P. chlorophyll. The average variation of zinc in the study is 0.11 mg / l and the accumulation of zinc prevents the development of P. maximum leaves.
Keywords: Chlorophyll, heavy metals, Kribi, Poaceae, pollutants.

Abstract:
Abstract The study on the impact of illegal logging on taxation and local development carried out in Bidou village, Lokoundje Sub Division was carried out within the framework of sustainable management of production forests in Cameroun. It was initiated following the finding of the extent of exploitation outside the limits of the Cut Sale (CS) 09 03 210 issued to the company MMG and the lack of reliable scientific data on illegality in the forest sector. This study, conducted from October 1st 2012 to March 31st 2013 was to contribute to the sustainable management of production forests through the assessment of losses due to illegal logging near the CS. A full inventory was conducted on the area marked to identify all trees that had been cut down and measure their diameters. Survey data were obtained through a questionnaire addressed to 70 people and an interview guide addressed to the staff of the Divisional Delegation of the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife (MINFOF) of Kribi and the Lokoundje Council. The determination of stand tables and stocks inventory was facilitated by using the TIAMA software. FOB (Free On Board) price of the second half of 2012 were used to estimate the potential commercial value of the timber removed. It appears from this study that 105 ha were harvested out of bounds. Considerable losses like the loss of biodiversity, wood waste, exploitation in Minimum Exploitable Diameter (MED) and the lack of seedlings were noted. 200 stems of 15 species were identified on this area, corresponding to an equivalent volume of 2,175 m3. This volume corresponds to a loss in FOB value of 186,237,000 CFAF. For this operation, a Felling Tax (FT) of 6,692,000 CFAF and an Annual Forestry Fee (AFF) of 262,500 CFAF should have been paid to beneficiaries on this forestery manner. This shortfall has led to very serious consequences namely the non implementation of social work and the lack of employment. Influence peddling by the elite of the town and some MINFOF personnel, ignorance of rights and duties of the local population and poverty are factors that encourage illegal logging in this part of the country.

Abstract:
Abstract Agroecology, a term for agricultural practices that link agronomy (agricultural science) and ecology (environmental science), is a way of designing production systems that rely on functionalities offered by ecosystems. It amplifies them while aiming to reduce pressure on the environment (eg: reduce greenhouse gas emissions, limit the use of phytosanitary products) and preserve natural resources. It is about making maximum use of nature as a factor of production while maintaining its capacity for renewal. Faced with the growing degradation of land and forests due to anthropogenic pressures, agroecology thus appears to be a solution aimed at adopting practices that take into account the balances of nature and the services it provides. It optimizes and stabilizes agricultural yields while playing a multifunctional role for sustainable agriculture and the preservation of the environment. However, its dissemination to rural populations is not always easy. As an innovation in the forest context, its application in the Bella, Dikobé and Bidou 1 villages of the municipality of Lokoundjé, disrupts traditional practices and governs the differentiated assessments of village stakeholders. This article proposes to analyze these traditional practices, in order to find an agricultural model adapted to the context of the target communities, with an anchor on agroecology. The study brings together theories of social change and management of the commons. The scientific approach adopted is based on a review of the literature, the creation of experimental plots in the three villages, focus groups, interviews with resource persons, direct and participatory observations of agricultural practices in the three communities, and finally awareness raising. Farmers. The results show that agricultural activity is dominated by shifting slash-and-burn agriculture, practiced by 94% of the surveyed population. The negative impacts of this practice lie in the uncontrolled use of fire and the reduction of fallow periods. Faced with these findings and with regard to awareness raising, the populations are attentive and receptive to the presentation of the agroecological approach, but remain reluctant to put it into practice. This reluctance is mainly linked to the lack of financial means and the requirements inherent in agroecological practices. To remedy this situation, measures such as support for the creation of associations and support for individual pilot initiatives have been tested.

Abstract:
This study is an evaluation of carbon pools in the southern forest of Cameroon. It provides useful information for the implementation of REDD+, which requires reliable forest carbon data and monitoring systems to reduce forest loss. Data on diameter measurements and wood density for trees above 10 cm Dbh was collected within 65 randomly distributed plots across three sites with varying degrees of disturbance severity. A total of 200 subplots were set-up to estimate stem biomass and 100 quadrats to collect litter and soil corer for the estimation of root biomass. Results showed an estimated wood density of 0.63 ± 0.15 g.cm-3. High biomass and carbon values were observed in Campo (1170.63t/ha, 585.315tC/ha), as compared to Bidou (751.89 t/ha, 375.95 tC/ha) and Mangombe (571.34t/ha, 285.67tC/ha). There was a high biomass allocation ranging between 94.98% and 97.97% for standing trees. Conversely a low contribution of less than 7% was observed for small diameter trees (Dbh<20 cm), followed by fine roots (1.62 – 3.82%) and litter (0.34 – 0.94%). Variation in biomass can be explained by the level of disturbance, heterogeneity in the spatial distribution of forest types, absence of standardized sampling rate and allometric equations for the Congo basin forest. Due to the complexities involved in forest biomass inventories and the low contribution of small diameter trees to the total biomass, the study suggests that trees with Dbh < 20 cm can be neglected. published by the Journal of Biodiversity and Environmental Sciences (JBES)

Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract Several tall dwarf and hybrid types coconut were released by IPCRI-IAARD as commercial varieties since more than 40 years ago. Bido is a recently release tall coconut variety having many excellent traits such as early flowering, low height increments, and high yielding. With good cultivation practices, Bido tall variety could flower as early as three years and the first harvest was in 4 years after planting. Bido tall variety yield potential could reach up to 120 nuts/palm/year. As germplasm collections, Bido tall variety was planted in 2017 at Mapanget Experimental Garden. Subsequently, Bido tall variety seed garden was planted in 2018 at Kayuwatu Experimental Garden, North Sulawesi Province. The Bido tall coconut was recently used as parent to generate progenies derived from self- and cross-pollinations. Moreover, the Bido tall variety has been used as male parent and hybridized with some Dwarf coconut varieties to develop hybrid coconut varieties in the future.

Abstract:
The desirable future coconut variety characteristics should include (1) short trunk and low height increment, (2) early bearing, (3) high nut yield, and (4) high neera (coconut sugar sap). High yoelding but short coconut palm statures make it easy to harvest the nuts and tap the neera. The Dwarf coconut varieties are generally early bearing with a low height increment and plenty nuts per fruit bunch. The Bido tall coconut bears fruits as early as three years after planting and with high nut yield, a low height increment and a very short trunk. This study aims to evaluate early vegetative growth (2 – 3 years after planting) of eight coconut hybrids derived from combinations of Dwarfs x Bido tall hybridizations. The arrays of hybrid coconuts consisted of hybridization between three Dwarf coconut varieties by Bido tall generated in 2016, and those between five Dwarf coconut varieties by Bido tall generated in 2017. The KHINA-1 hybrid was used as the standard hybrid control. Results of the evaluation showed the evaluated Waingapu Red Dwarf x Bido tall hybrids have the largest stem girth and the highest plant heightOn the other hand, Aromatic Green Dwarf x Bido tall hybrids showed the highest leaf numbers. However, all hybrid combinations showed the same stem girth diameter at two years after planting. At two and three years after planting, the Raja Brown Dwarf x Bido tall hybrids were the tallest, while the Nias Yellow Dwarf x Bido tall coconut hybrids have the highest leaf number. All of the Dwarf x Bido tall coconut hybrids showed good vegetative performance at two and three years after planting. The differences in early vegetative performances among the evaluated Dwarf x Bido tall might indicate the differences in early bearing, high nut yield and high neera characters of the hybrids.

Abstract:
Glyphosate-resistant populations of Eleusine indica (L.) Gaertn. were found in 4 areas in Malaysia that had received repeated applications of glyphosate for a period ranging from 5 to 15 years. The resistance ratios calculated from dose-response experiments were 2.9 (Chaah), 2.1 (Lenggeng), 3.3 (Bidor), and 2.8 (Temerloh). Two-point mutations were detected in position 875 within the 5-enolpyruvylshikimate 3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS) gene resistant population, causing a C to T transition leading to Pro106 to Ser106 substitution in Bidor and Temerloh or C to A transversion leading to Pro106 to Thr106 substitution in Chaah. Sequence comparisons of the 3115 bp of the EPSPS gene revealed identical sequences in both the susceptible (S) and resistant (R) populations of Lenggeng. The identical sequences in both the Lenggeng populations, S and R, suggest that the resistance mechanism found in Lenggeng R may be different from Chaah R, Bidor R, and Temerloh R. The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification of specific alleles (PASA) was developed to detect 2 distinct single-point mutations, probably conferring herbicide resistance in Chaah R, Bidor R, and Temerloh R. PASA profiles showed only one DNA fragment for the entire S population and 2 different additional fragments, each specific for one resistance allele, for the R population.

Abstract:
In the present study, the uses of sam, bada, bivam and bidoh as copulas or as auxiliary verbs in various evidentials and voices in the modern Bulgarian language are investigated. The competition between both sam and bada and between sam and bivam, byah and bidoh is explored. In addition, the opinion of modern Bulgarians about these three competing couples is studied through an anonymous non-representative survey. Examples are used from all electronic corpora of the Bulgarian language and from the Internet. The truth of three hypotheses is proven: the forms of sam are preferred over the uses of bada and bivam in the various evidential active forms; the forms of bada predominate in the passive evidential forms; the aorist forms bidoh, bide, bide, bidohme, bidohte, bidoha are very infrequent and today hardly used by modern generations, although they are known.

<p>Coconut seedlings are growing well with an important role in supporting the success of planting coconut in the field. The higher seed viability are growing well, the more the seed that grew into a coconut seedlings. This study aims to determine seed viability, growth and development of the Bido Tall coconut (DBO) seeds, Hybrid Dwarf x DBO and Khina-1. Coconut variety Bido Tall is a coconut variety that was just released in 2017 originating from Bido village. This coconut has the advantage of large fruit, fast flowering, short stems, and stalks slowly getting higher. The research was conducted at the Mapanget Experimental Garden, Indonesion Palm Crops Research Institute from 2016 - 2018 using a single block method. The material used in this study is derived seed from coconut DBO, Hybrid Genjah x DBO, and Khina-1 coconut. The results showed that the viability seeds of Bido Tall coconut ranged from 73,15% - 88,10%, while the Hybrid Dwarf x Bido Tall coconut 46,18% - 85,19%. Coconut seedlings do not all grow normally, there are some seeds were stunted (dwarf or a rosette), and the seeds are dead. Besides that, there are seeds that grow with two shoots (polyembriony) and dwarf. Characteristics of plant height, stem girth and leaves number of DB0 coconut are generally higher than Hybrid coconuts Dwarf x DBO and Khina-1. Hybrid Coconut GMW x DBO and GSK x DBO are the two best Hybrid coconut that has characteristics of plant height, stem girth and leaves number close to or equal to the DBO coconut elders, which is more vigorous than other Hybrid coconuts included with the comparison Khina-1. Red Waingapu and Salak Dwarf coconuts are thought to be the best combining ability with DBO coconut.</p><p align="center"><strong>ABSTRAK</strong></p><p>Bibit kelapa yang tumbuh baik mempunyai peranan penting dalam menunjang keberhasilan penanaman kelapa di lapangan. Abstract:
The area of Bidau, in the East Timorese capital of Dili, was home to the only documented form of Creole Portuguese in Timor. Although Bidau Creole Portuguese is now extinct, by most accounts, a few scattered records allow a glimpse into what it must have been like, and reveal its clear relationship with other Southeast Asian Portuguese-based creoles; Baxter’s (1990a) study of Bidau Creole Portuguese was based mostly on a set of recordings made in the context of theMissão Antropológica de Timor[“Anthropological Mission to Timor”, 1953–1954]. In this article, Baxter (1990a: 3) mentions that “[s]o far, the earliest located reference to Bidau Creole Portuguese, and one which contains some impressionistic examples of conversations and the verse of a song, is Castro (1943: 56, 177)”. However, since the publication of this study, a few earlier references to what can be interpreted as Portuguese-based creole in Timor have been located in unpublished archival sources. These sources are letters sent to two important philologists of the late 19thand early 20thcentury, Hugo Schuchardt and José Leite de Vasconcelos, who were greatly interested in ascertaining whether a creole was spoken in Timor and what the local Portuguese was like. The present study introduces and contextualises these epistolary sources, discussing the linguistic and sociolinguistic material contained therein, and its relevance for the confirmation of different threads of language contact involving Portuguese.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This paper discusses a variety of Southeast Asian Creole Portuguese (henceforth SACP) formerly spoken in Bidau, Dili, East Timor. An outline of the sociohistorical setting of the language is followed by a discussion of data sources and references to Bidau Creole Portuguese (BCP) in the literature on Timor. Included is a discussion of an unpublished letter from the Vigário Geral of Timor to Hugo Schuchardt, containing a comparative list of sentences in "corrupt Portuguese," Metropolitan Portuguese, and Tetum. The body of the paper is concerned with the analysis and description of a limited and fragmentary corpus that was tape recorded in the early 1950s by the Missao Antropológica de Timor. These materials, together with the available written sources, permit a preliminary account of certain aspects of the phonology (the sequence V + [ng], palatal affricates, [r], and reflexes of Old Portuguese /ei/ and /l/) and the morphosyn-tax of the creole (the NP, the genetive possessive construction, the predicate, the negators and TMA system, and clause structure). Comparisons are made with other varieties of East Asian Creole Portuguese and SACP throughout. It is found that the language of Bidau is closely related to the creoles of Malacca and Macao.

Abstract:
Bitou bush (Chrysanthemoides monilifera subsp. rotundata) is a Weed of National Significance in Australia and has impacted a significant portion of the eastern coastline. Its discovery in Western Australia was, therefore, a cause for concern. Assessment and control of the isolated and well-defined population began in 2012. To assess the feasibility of eradication in Western Australia as a management outcome for bitou bush, we applied a rigorous data-driven quantification and prediction process to the control program. Between 2012 and 2018 we surveyed over 253 ha of land and removed 1766 bitou bush plants. Approximately 97 person-days were spent over the six years of survey. We measured the seed bank viability for five years starting in 2013, with the 2017 survey results indicating a decline of mean viable seeds/m2 from 39.3 ± 11.4 to 5.7 ± 2.2. In 2018 we found only ten plants and no newly recruited seedlings in the population. No spread to other areas has been recorded. Soil core studies indicate that the soil seed bank is unlikely to persist beyond eight years. Eradication of the population in Western Australia, defined as five years without plants being detected, therefore remains a realistic management goal. The information generated from the documentation of this eradication program provides invaluable insight for weed eradication attempts more generally: novel detection methods can be effective in making surveys more efficient, all survey methods are not entirely accurate and large plants can escape detection, bitou bush seeds persist in the soil but become effectively undetectable at low densities, and migration of seed was unquantifiable, possibly compromising delimitation. Continued monitoring of the Western Australian population will determine how much of a risk these factors represent to eradication as the outcome of this management program.
