Tekst ukazuje ogromne znaczenie dziecięcej książki obrazkowej w historii literatury i w sztuce edytorskiej na przestrzeni wieków. Wektor badawczy skierowany został ku szwedzkiej książce obrazkowej przełomu XIX i XX wieku. Na przykładzie znamienitych artystów tego typu twórczości (Ottilia Adelborg, Elsa Beskow) pokazano doskonałość warsztatu ilustratorskiego, oryginalność i osobność treści oraz niezwykłe połączenie słowa i obrazka. Dopełnieniem wartościowej szwedzkiej książki obrazkowej jest kontekst filozoficzny – filozofia wychowania znamienitej szwedzkiej pisarki, nauczycielki, humanistki – sawantki przełomu XIX i XX stulecia – Ellen Key. Er is in de loop der jaren veel onderzoek verricht naar het voorspellen van faillissementen door middel van faillissementsmodellen (bijv. Pompe en Bilderbeek (2000), Dimitras, Zanakis en Zopounidis (1996), Bilderbeek (1977), Altman (1968)). Ook in België, het land waar de gegevens voor het beschreven onderzoek vandaan komen, zijn dergelijke modellen afgeleid (bijv. Ooghe, Joos en De Bourdeaudhuij (1995)). Een model voor het voorspellen van faillissementen heeft tot doel het beschrijven van de relatie tussen een naderend faillissement en een aantal verklarende financiële ratio’s. Deze ratio’s kunnen worden berekend met informatie uit de jaarrekening van een onderneming.

The 1980 Statistics Attitude Survey of Roberts and Bilderback was administered to 237 students in 8 sections of a freshman introductory course on statistics at both the beginning and the end of the course. Reliability estimates, means, standard deviations, correlations with course grade, and changes in attitudes were very similar to those reported by Roberts and Saxe in 1982 for upper-level students also taking an introductory course. No sex differences were found for either administration of the scale.

AbstractThe article draws on recent research into emergent literacy and metacognition, and charts a developmental trajectory from early concept books to picturebooks aimed at children and young teenagers. Methodologically, the study is a research synthesis, where the aim is to systematize current research findings and offer an overview of different types of picturebooks, and how they build literary and metacognitive competence. My thesis is that picturebooks are crucial in that process. The analysis focuses on the metacognitive affordances that can be found in picturebooks directed at different age groups/competence levels. Both the verbal and visual dimensions of the text are analyzed with the help of picturebook and comic book theory (iconotext, sequentiality). The results show that early concept books are surprisingly abstract; they stimulate the child’s aesthetic-affective response by using clear colours and easily discernible shapes. In the next stage, things (nouns) from the child’s close environment are represented. Naming and identifying are crucial activities at this stage. Verb-oriented concept books follow; these typically focus on simple actions from the child’s lifeworld, such as getting dressed, or eating. Next, we find narrative picturebooks, in which the fundamentals of story, plot, and characterization are introduced. Finally, the potential for advanced storytelling is explored with regard to symbolism, irony, and character development.Keywords: picturebooks, early concept books, metacognition, iconotext, narrative picturebooksBilderbokens berättelser: Ett metakognitivt perspektiv på bilderböckerSammanfattningDen här artikeln bygger på nyare forskning om literacyutveckling och metacognition, och kartlägger utvecklingslinjer från tidiga begreppsböcker riktade till spädbarn till bilderböcker som vänder sig till barn och tonåringar. Metodologiskt är arbetet ett forskningssyntes, där målet är att systematisera forskningsrön, erbjuda en ålders- och/eller utvecklingsindelad bilderboksöversikt, samt påvisa hur dessa böcker kan bygga litterär och metakognitiv kompetens. Min tes är att bilderböcker spelar en avgörande roll i den processen. Analysen sätter fokus på de metakognitiva meningserbjudanden som kan återfinnas i olika bilderböcker. Såväl bild och skrift analyseras med hjälp av bilderboks- och serieteori. Resultaten visar att tidiga begreppsböcker är förvånansvärt abstrakta; de syftar främst till at stimulera barnets estetisk-affektiva respons genom användande av klara primärfärger och tydliga kontraster. I nästa skede återges saker och ting (substantiv) från barnets närmiljö. Verb-orienterade bilderböcker följer; dessa visar framför allt aktiviteter som barnet kan känna igen, som att äta, klä sig, eller gå och lägga sig. I nästa steg återfinns berättande bilderböcker. Där hittar vi berättandets grundbegrepp såsom handling, karaktär, konflikt. Aldrig ensam: bilderbok till VR Jag har utforskat bilderboken och försökt utveckla en ny berättarform som bjuder in läsaren till en djupare dimension på samma gång som den ger bilderboken en chans att komma till “liv” på ett fysiskt vis. Jag har gjort detta genom att återskapa en barnbok, som jag illustrerat och skrivit tillsammans med Dr. Heather Briscoe, till en VR upplevelse. Genom att hämta mina akvarell-illustrationer ur bilderboken utforskar jag kontrasten mellan det analoga tvådimensionella och det digitala tredimensionella genom temat “Relation till naturen”. Berättelsen handlar om stunder ur ett barns liv och familjebanden som introducerar naturens kretslopp genom tidlös visdom.
Never Alone: Picture Book into VR I have studied the picture book and tried to develop a new narrative form that invites the reader to enter a deeper dimension while also giving the picture book a chance to come to “life” in a physical way. I have done this by recreating a children’s book, which I illustrated and wrote in collaboration with Dr. Heather Briscoe, into a VR experience. By bringing in my watercolour illustrations from the picture book, I explore the contrast between the analogue two-dimensional and the digital three-dimensional through the theme “Relationship to nature”. The narrative is about moments from a child’s life and the family ties that introduce nature’s cycles through timeless wisdom.

Den frågan blev början på den bilderbok för vuxna som är mitt masterprojekt. För att förstå vad vi förlorar försöker jag förstå vad vi har. För att se in i framtiden blickar jag mot det förflutna. Jag börjar i Big bang och går framåt, in i framtiden. Genom bildberättandet rör jag mig genom tiden, ser in i ögonen på forntidsdjur och pratar med mitt ofödda barn. Nu har jag nya frågor: När blir vetenskap poesi? Vad händer med en generation som växer upp i rädslan för undergången? Hur kan bildberättande levandegöra historia?

Many people believe that the analogue picture book is a dying media due to the increase of digital media. Contrary to popular belief, the publishing of children’s book in Sweden is continually increasing, which makes mapping the field quite significant. But to regulate the creation of a children’s picture book is problematic, because one does not want to impede the personal style of the writer or the illustrator of the children’s book. If the children’s book creator has an understanding of how to better communicate with children, the children’s book might have a grater impact on the child. Little research has been performed on what one should think about when creating a children’s book, which makes this study highly relevant. My approach to the problem was to make a literature review over preceding research and to test the different directives, by creating an original children’s picture book and then testing the book, and thereby the directives, on the targeted audience. Consequently the picture book and the associated data gathered, suggest 20 design guidelines for picture books for children between 3 and 6 years. Each subcategory, of the guidelines suggested, should be investigated to confirm validity and reliability.
Att digitala medier tar allt större plats i människors liv har lett till att många tror att den analoga barnboken är ett utdöende medium. Dock har utgivningen av analoga barnböcker ökat i Sverige de senaste åren, vilket indikerar motsatsen. Detta gör att en kartläggning av ämnesområdet både blir relevant och angeläget. Däremot är det problematiskt att ta fram riktlinjer för bilderboken då riktlinjerna inte bör hämma barnbokskapares personliga stil, utan snarare underlätta för dem. Min tro är att om barnboksskapare vet hur de på bästa sätt kan kommunicera med barn, kan barnboken göra ett djupare intryck på barnet. Det finns inte mycket forskning om vad man som barnboksförfattare eller illustratör bör tänka på vid skapandet av en barnbok, vilket gör denna studie betydelsefull. Studien genomfördes genom att jag gjorde en litteraturgenomgång av tidigare forskning samt testade de teorier som forskningen föreslår genom att använda mig av dem vid skapandet av en egen bilderbok. Därefter testade jag bilderboken på målgruppen för att se om bilderboken var barnanpassad. Min undersökning resulterade i 20 designriktlinjer för skapandet av en bilderbok för barn mellan 3 och 6 år. Riktlinjerna är indelade i tre underkategorier: format och layout, bilduppbyggnad och text. Den praktiska delen av mitt arbete är en bilderbok som bygger på dessa riktlinjer. Min förhoppning är att genom att följa dessa designriktlinjer blir barnboksskapare mer medvetna om hur deras barnbok bättre kan kommunicera med barn.

Hur det går att arbeta för en hållbar utveckling är något som ligger högt på agendan både i samhället i stort och på verksamhetsnivå, i detta fall förskoleverksamhet. Hållbar utveckling benämns för första gången som begrepp i den kommande reviderade läroplanen för förskola som träder i kraft i juni 2019. I och med det följer även en förväntan om att förskollärare tillsammans med barngruppen ska arbeta med hållbar utveckling. Examensarbetet innefattar skapandet av ett didaktiskt lärandematerial i form av en inbunden bilderbok, Den magiska resan i jorden, med tillhörande lärarhandledning. Produkten syftar till att stötta förskollärare i det kommande lärandeuppdraget inom hållbar utveckling i den svenska läroplanen för förskolan. Bilderboken fokuserar på nedbrytningsprocesser av organiskt material och lärarhandledningen omfattar två olika delar som kopplas till boken, Samtal och Aktiviteter. Produkten utmanar och erbjuder bland annat socialt samspel, begreppsbildning och ämneskunskap inom biologi och mer specifikt nedbrytare och nedbrytning. Detta didaktiska material bygger på litteracitet samt nuvarande forskning.

My experience is that there are few children’s books about Swedish animals. We can most often find books about lions, giraffes and elephants. But where are the elks, hedgehogs or foxes? In the woods is a children’s picture book for children of age 3+. The book contains rhymes and illustrations portraying 10 different animals living in the Swedish forest. In an increasingly digital world it became important for me to create a printed book. I believe that books carry great value, and they can also be passed on to next generations. Hopefully, the book will present a part of the amazing nature that Sweden holds and through that awaken children’s interest in Swedish animals.
Jag upplever att det finns få bilderböcker för barn om svenska djur på marknaden. Ofta ser vi barnböcker med lejon, giraffer och elefanter. Men var är älgarna, igelkottarna och rävarna? Uti stora skogen är en bilderbok för barn 3+. Boken innehåller rim och illustrationer som gestaltar 10 olika djur i den svenska skogen. I en allt mer digitaliserad värld blev det extra viktigt för mig att skapa en tryckt bok. Enligt mig finns det ett stort värde i böcker och de kan dessutom ärvas från generation till generation. Min förhoppning är att boken visar på den naturrikedom som finns i Sverige och att den väcker intresse för svenska djur.

Bilderna i skönlitterära barnböcker har en viktig roll för elevers läsförståelse och är inte enbart dekorativa. Forskning pekar på att bilden kan vara avgörande för förståelsen av bokens innehåll i de fall där eleven inte förstått texten fullt ut. Denna studie har utgått från att bilden har betydelse för läsförståelsen men syftet med studien är att ta reda på vilken funktion bilden kan ha utifrån att bilderböcker inte är lika utan kan delas upp i fem olika kategorier. Vi har valt att fokusera på två av dessa fem kategorier. Studien är gjord i en årskurs tre där ena halvan av klassen har haft tillgång till bilden under tiden de läst medan andra halvan inte haft tillgång till bilden under tiden de läst. Empirin består av standardiserade frågor samt semistrukturerade intervjuer. De frågeställningar vi arbetat utifrån är: Vilken funktion har bilden för elevers läsförståelse i en kompletterande bilderbok? Vilken funktion har bilden för elevers läsförståelse i en expanderande/förstärkande bilderbok? Resultatet pekar på att bilden spelar mer eller mindre roll beroende på vilken kategori bilderboken tillhör. I en kompletterande bilderbok såg vi att bilden inte var avgörande för elevernas läsförståelse då båda grupperna hade förstått bokens innehåll ungefär lika väl. Vi märkte däremot skillnad i läsförståelsen i den expanderande/förstärkande bilderboken där de elever som inte haft tillgång till bilden gått miste om delar av bokens innehåll och därmed inte förstått bokens budskap fullt ut. Det som var intresseväckande utöver att bilden var avgörande för läsförståelsen var elevernas uppfattning, i gruppen som inte haft tillgång till bilden, att det inte behövde bilden för att förstå boken. Medan gruppen som haft tillgång till bilden såg dess fördelar för läsförståelsen. En didaktisk implikation vi kommit fram till är att bilderna fyller olika syften i olika bilderböcker och förslag på vidare forskning vore att studera de tre bilderbokskategorier som denna studie inte berör.

Abstract:
The aim of this study is to analyse and contextualize in aesthetic theory medial phenomena such as intra-, inter- and transmediality, in Jimmy Liao’s picturebook Starry Starry Night. In order to analyse intra-, inter- and transmediality, I use Jørgen Bruhn’s mediality model based on the term heteromediality. In contrast to the term intermediality, heteromediality highlights that blending is a priority condition in all media, and that the blending aspects matter. Therefore, the mediality model focuses both on relations between several media and on relations within a single medium or a single artefact. The theoretical framework in the study is mainly based on intermedial theories and picturebook theories. However, in the analysis and in the aesthetic-theoretical contextualization I also use perspectives and concepts from aesthetic theories such as the term aesthetic and the term radical aesthetic. According to my findings, the medial phenomena in Starry Starry Night can have several functions and effects. Firstly, the medial elements can clarify, contradict, complement and expand the narrative. Secondly, the medial relations can contribute to an intramedial thematization and to a direct and indirect characterization. Thirdly, the medial dialogue can influence the interpretation, produce different interpretations and lead the readers’ reception. Finally, the medial phenomena can explicitly and implicitly challenge, revolt against and deconstruct certain values, power relations and beliefs about the world.

Syftet med uppsatsen är att göra en övergripande studie av nutida svenskspråkiga bilderböcker, exemplifierad genom Pija Lindenbaum och en genuin bilderbok av henne: Doris drar (2015). Uppsatsen diskuterar kring hur den nutida bilderboken har sin kontext i flera konstnärliga uttryck och successivt blivit alltmer estetiskt kvalificerad. Bilderboks-skaparna som debuterade under 1980- och 1990-talen, däribland Lindenbaum, fo-kuserade på nutida bildskapande, ord och bild i samverkan, barnrättsperspektivet, nedtonandet av pedagogiken samt ett kommersiellt tänkande. Barnlitteraturens grundmönster är handlingsförloppet: hem – uppbrott hemifrån – äventyr – hemkomst. Igenkänning, mönster och åtstramning är centralt. Detta är karakteristiskt för Lindenbaum och Doris drar. Den ingår i en följd av bilderböcker från 2000-talet där Lindenbaum utvecklat en egen stil i bild, text och upplägg. Det är psykologiska små dramer fyllda av hu-mor och fantasin är surrealistisk. Barnets perspektiv är uttalat i ord och bild. Barn-språkstexterna är dramatiska. Tilltalet är dubbelt. Doris är en nutida version av den klassiska sagohjälten.

Abstract:
The purpose of the study is to analyse the accessibility in and to a picture book. The book was selected on the basis of loan statistics in a multilingual school. At the third place in the statistics was the most lent student-selected picture book Alfons and Milla (Bergström, 1985) which is the focus of this study. The book was analysed as to its accessibility in three different ways: the accessibility to the relationships revealed in the illustrations of the book, the accessibility to the interaction between image and written text, and also the librarian’s influence regarding the physical accessibility of the book.   The study reveals that the relationships between the characters in the book were often implicitly expressed and therefore an advanced literate understanding is required to understand the relations between the characters and to get access to the whole story. The correspondence between texts and images were often weak as the texts did not explicitly describe what was really happening in the image but instead described other things. This means that to completely understand and get access to the interaction between text and image the reader must have developed a rather advanced literate competence. Regarding the physical access to the book, the librarian actually tried to minimize the physical accessibility to the book in favour of other books.   The conclusion of the study is that the reader must be able to make many interpretations to grip the implicit meanings in the book. Such interpretations require quite an advanced literate competence. The book is popular among the multilingual pupils which show that they find pleasure in the book in one way or another even though they might not understand all implicit relations. The didactic implication of the study is that the pupils might need explicit teaching about how to reveal implicit meanings in literature in order to make them get a deeper understanding of the books they read. This is also a way of supporting their development of critical literacy.
