Abstract:
Apartments account for 64.6% of all housing units in the Republic of Korea, and most of them receive electricity under a contract, which includes a progressive rate plan. Recently, due to the electrification of energy used in homes and the growing adoption of electric vehicles, electricity consumption in apartment complexes has been gradually increasing. Given the characteristics of the progressive rate system, an increase in electricity usage results in a significant higher rise in electricity bills. Thus, an effective alternative is required to reduce electricity bills for each household. In

Renewable Energy (RE) penetration is a new phenomenon in power systems. In the advent of high penetration of RE in the systems, several issues have to be addressed especially when it involves the stability and flexibility of the power systems. Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) has gained popularity due to its capability to store energy and to serve multiple purposes in solving various power system concerns. Additionally, several BESS can be combined to operate as Virtual Power Plant (VPP). This study will involve the design and implementation of BESS for five potential customer sites for th

Abstract Today’s payment apps have become essential for managing finances—enabling rapid transactions, bill payments, and online shopping without the need for cash or cards. This study examines how digital payment solutions influence everyday financial behaviour, highlighting both their conveniences and potential drawbacks such as security vulnerabilities and impulsive spending. An online survey (N=103) gathered data on usage frequency, comparisons with traditional payment methods, support for achieving savings goals, expense tracking ease, and security concerns. The savings and loan bailout bill, the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery and Enforcement Act of 1989 (FIRREA), marks the beginning of the post-Reagan era of reregulation. The traditional lobbying coalition of the housing and home-finance industries was too divided and defensive to shape the FIRREA legislation effectively. Congress and the Bush Administration were preoccupied with the financial and political crises raised by the collapse of the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Company, and were unsympathetic to the lobbying efforts of industry. The new energy context since 2021 has led to dramatic increases in the energy bills of agribusinesses, affecting the price of foodstuffs. A considerable part of energy consumption is due to the heating of water at high temperatures. The present study analyzed the feasibility of using a Solar Water Heating System (SWHS) with an evacuated tube collector. In particular, the required sizing changes, potential savings and cost-effectiveness were analyzed. The results show that the new energy context makes the SWHS investment highly attractive: a payback of less than 4 years in most of the scenarios
