This study examines one of the limitations of CALPHAD databases when applied to high entropy alloys and complex concentrated alloys. We estimate the level of the thermodynamic description, which is still sufficient to correctly predict thermodynamic properties of quaternary alloy systems, by comparing the results of CALPHAD calculations where quaternary phase space is extrapolated from binary descriptions to those resulting from complete binary and ternary interaction descriptions. It has been found that the method for determining thermodynamic properties from the cross-section data allows to find the contribution of short-range ordering into the thermodynamic state of an imperfect alloy. Diffusion processes in alloys are formed both from purely kinetic migrations of particles and from the system's thermodynamic properties. Selective water (by-product) separation from reaction mixtures stands as an important process intensification strategy for equilibrium-limited reactions. In this work, the possibility of using a high-pressure biphasic reaction media composed of a hydrophobic ionic liquid, 1-hexy-3-methylimidazolium tetracyanoborate, and carbon dioxide was explored for levulinic acid production from 1,4-butanediol. Vapour-liquid equilibrium measurements were performed for the binary (diol+CO2), ternary (diol+CO2+IL), and quaternary systems (diol+CO2+IL+water), at 313.2 K and pressures up to 18 MPa. The static a

Lovastatin (LOV) is a drug used to treat hypercholesterolemia. Recent studies have identified its antioxidant effects and potential use in the treatment of some types of cancer. However, the low bioavailability related to its poor water solubility limits its use in solid oral dosage forms. Therefore, to improve the solubility of LOV three eutectic systems of LOV with the carboxylic acids benzoic (BEN), salicylic (SAL) and cinnamic (CIN) were obtained. Both binary phase and Tammann diagrams were constructed using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) data of mixtures prepared from 0.1 to 1.0

In this paper, we present and discuss some of the theoretical procedures that have been established recently for binary and ternary alloy systems for the purposes of analyzing chemical diffusion data (interdiffusion and intrinsic diffusion) alone and chemical diffusion data in combination with tracer diffusion data. Emphasis is put on extracting information about diffusion mechanisms by way of tracer correlation factors/vacancy-wind factors. Examples are taken from the intrinsic diffusion, interdiffusion and tracer diffusion data in the Ag-Cd and Ag-Cd-Zn, Fe-Ni-Cr and Cu-Fe-Ni alloy systems.

The determination of apparent partial molar volumes ( φ V ) from experimental density measurements, both for binary and ternary aqueous solutions of cyclodextrins and methylxanthines, was performed at low concentration range to be consistent with their therapeutic uses in the drug-releasing field. Adsorption equilibria of the binary and ternary solutions of alcohols in benzene and n-heptane on silica gel have been studied in order to clarify their mechanisms of adsorption. Excess adsorption isotherms have been measured for hydrocarbon solutions of methanol, ethanol, butanol and pentanol. Interpretation of the experimental data was performed in terms of material balance between bulk and surface phase. In n-heptane solutions the multilayer surface structure is formed and the surface phase contains the alcohol only. For benzene and ternary (alcohol + benzene + n-heptane) solutions a mixed

Reactive flash sintering in oxide systems is analyzed assuming the formation of a liquid film at the particle contacts at the flash onset temperature. Formation of intermediate phases, as well as phase assemblage, are predicted upon optimal conditions of the electric field and current density. In single-phase impure oxides, the solidus and the solubility limit determine the flash onset temperature. In reacting binary systems, the composition of the liquidus determines primarily the reaction products during the cooling. In multicomponent systems, the oxide with the lowest flash temperature form

Multicomponent oxide systems have many applications in different fields such as optics and medicine. In this work, we developed new hybrid photoresists based on a combination of an organic acrylate resin and an inorganic sol, suitable for 3D printing via two-photon polymerization (2PP). The inorganic sol contained precursors of a binary SiO2-CaO or a ternary SiO2-CaO-P2O5 system. Complex microstructures were 3D printed using these hybrid photoresists and 2PP.
