Abstract:
The forest tree species that are widely grown to produce pulp and paper raw materials are Acacia spp. and Eucalyptus spp. One alternative species is binuang bini (Octomeles sumatrana) which can be developed for plantations. To maintain high seed viability, it is necessary to know the handling of seeds and control of seed-borne diseases during storage. The purpose of this study was to determine the method of the effective technique to control the seed-borne diseases of binuang bini during seed storage. The techniques for Seed disease kontrol methods in seed storage are carried out using chemical and natural fungicide. The results showed that the pure live seed was influenced by a single factor of fungicide and storage room, interactions between fungicides and storage room, interactions between fungicides and storage periods as well as interactions between fungicides and storage space and storage periods. Seed handling of binuang bini can be conducted effectively and efficiently by storing the seed in refrigerator for 3 months without using fungicides, but it will be better if the seed is given benomil fungicide and stored in airconditioned room (temperature of 18℃-20℃ and relative humidity of 50%-60 %).

Abstract:
On the basis of genetic classification, Edoid (of the Bini people of Nigeria) is conceivedas an offshoot of Benue-Congo earlier than Yoruboid (of the Ife people of Nigeria). However, the reverse is the case when viewed from the sociolinguistic platforms ofpopulation, prestige and power. Thus, in 2004, the Edoid patriarch of Bini launcheda biography, wherein he narrated the Bini origin of the Ife monarchy. This sparked abarrage of unguarded responses from both sides of the controversy, largely centredon different interpretations to oral tradition. By exploring language as custodian ofprehistory, this paper makes a linguistic contribution to the continuing debate aboutwhich predates the other between Ife (Yoruboid) and Bini (Edoid) of southwesternNigeria. It pieces together evidence of cognate lexical simplification, patterns ofcognate counting systems, sound inventory, and decadence of vowel harmony, whichsupport the chronological pre-eminence of Edoid over Yoruboid; thus, calling forarchaeological, anthropological and geographical inspection.

Abstract:
There is no other theme in precolonial Benin Kingdom studies around which so many lances have been broken as that of consolidation of the present-day Second (Oba) dynasty and the person of its founder Oranmiyan (Oranyan in Yoruba). The main reason for this is the existence of considerable disagreements between numerous Bini and Yoruba versions of the oral historical tradition. Besides this, the story of Oranmiyan is one of the Bini and Yoruba oral history pages most tightly connected with mythology. This fact becomes especially important if one takes into account that the oral tradition is no doubt the main (though not the only) source on the consolidation of the Oba Dynasty in Benin. The key point on which different Bini and Yoruba traditions openly contradict each other, and which scholars debate, is the origin of the Dynasty. Who initiated its founding: Bini or Yoruba? Was it a request or a conquest? Are the characters of the oral tradition relations historical figures? Finally, what were historical, sociocultural, and political circumstances of the Oba accession? If one disengages from details, three groups of traditional versions that describe the origin and life of Oranmiyan (including its period connected with Benin) can be distinguished. These groups may be designated as the Yoruba one, the Benin “official” (i.e., traditionally recognized by Oba themselves and most widely spread among common Bini) and Benin “apocryphal” traditions. In the meantime it should be borne in mind that Bini and Yoruba native gatherers and publishers of the oral historical tradition could influence each other. For example, the Yoruba Johnson could influence the Bini Egharevba, while the latter in his turn could influence another Yoruba, Fabunmi, and so on.

Abstract:
Cephalometry is an important branch of anthropometry which involves the morphological study of structures present in the human head or scientific measurement of the dimensions of the head. Some of the most important cephalometric parameters include the length/height and breadth/width of the head, the face and the nose as well as their respective indices. These cephalometric parameters are vital in the description of variation which is a common phenomenon that characterizes human physiognomy. They are also useful in the description of human inter-racial and intra-racial similarities both within and across gender. This study involved 450 Bini children (235 males and 215 females) between ages 5-12 years. The length and width of the head and face of each subject was measured between the appropriate anatomical landmarks using spreading and sliding calipers. The measurements were used to calculate the cephalic and facial indices for each subject. The result showed sexual variation in both cephalic and facial indices among the Bini children with the males having higher values than the females. Also, the result of this study showed that prevalence of brachycephalic head type among both male (51.1%) and female (49.8%) Bini children. The mesoproscopic face type was the most prevalent face type among both male (62.6%) and female (47.4%) Bini children. The cephalo-facial indices are vital in demonstrating similarity and variation in physical morphologies of individuals or group of people of different ethnicity, races, gender and geographical locations. Abstract:
Igiogbe cultural heritage has existed since the founding of Bini kingdom without any controversy; however since the Supreme Court decision in Idehen v Idehen the issue of Igiogbe has assumed new dimensions. Igiogbe - the house in which a Benin man lived and died devolves on his first son absolutely; but since the beginning of 20th century litigation as to the real meaning of Igiogbe and who is entitled to inheritance thereof began to increase. Controversies and increase in litigation over Igiogbe has occasioned a shift in the practice, the Bini’s are not conscious of some of these changes, most of them (Bini’s) still claim Igiogbe practices is rigidly adhered to. This study on Igiogbe inheritance in Bini kingdom is therefore carried out with a view to bringing out the changes in Igiogbe cultural practice using legal and anthropological tools to examine the changes. While laying the foundation for the discussion on the main research object the researcher examined the origin and status of customary law in Nigeria. There after I examined Igiogbe inheritance in Bini kingdom. Igiogbe and the issue of first son were critically analyzed with the aid of the research questions bringing out the changes in Igiogbe concept from traditional practice to modern practice. Study shows Igiogbe practice is still relevant in modern Bini kingdom, however, the shift and changes in practice of this cultural milieu has lead me to ask some fundamental questions which I intend to answer in the broader research work in future.

Abstract:
The goal of this dissertation is to describe and analyse some phonological aspects of Sãotomense. In this word, we compare a number of linguistics contributions from the Portuguese, Kongo and Bini languages to Sãotomense, a Portuguese-based Creole spoken in the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe. A Creole language displays linguistic characteristic both from its superstratum and its substratum languages. Sãotomense has the seventeenth centurys Portuguese as its superstratum language and many African languages, among them Kongo and Bini, as its substrata languages. In this work, I intend to analyze some of the influences of these strata languages in the formation of Sãotomense phonology. In general terms, most of the contributions from the superstratum languages are related to the Lexicon. Substratum languages, by its turn, heavily contribute to the phonology, morphology and syntax, although there are in the Creoles languages innovative linguistics aspects as well. In the specific case of Sãotomense, Portuguese words undergone many linguistics processes, some of them called metaplasms, in order to be adapted by the structure of African languages speakers, but this fact did not avoid that Portuguese language also contributed to the phonology constitution of Sãotomense. A possible African contribution to the phonology of Sãotomense is the so-called lambdacism the transformation of a [r] into a [l] during the process of loanword adaptation from the Kongo language. Portuguese, for example, probably, contributed with the elimination of tones, present in Kongo and Bini and in many others African languages, but not in Portuguese.

The purpose of bin packing is the effective apportionment of smaller elements in the bigger ones. The bin packing is being analysed in managment, computers, mathematics and researches of operations. The quality of the heuristic structural algorithm and time have been analysed in the work (the percent of the used material and the quality of the received waste). The results of the researches show that non-sorted bin packing algorithms cut better than bin packing sorted algorithms but the time of cutting grows longer when the number of finished products grow longer.

Abstract:
Abstract Intramedullary nails (INs) have significant advantages in rigid fracture fixation. Conventional metal INs for long bone fracture fixation often lead to delay union or even nonunion healing due to their stress shielding effect and lack of biological activity. Besides, undegradable metals require a second surgery to remove them, which will not only impose a potential risk to the patient but also cause additional costs. Manufacturing high-strength biodegradable INs (BINs) is still a challenge. Here, an entirely new type of high-strength bioactive magnesium-containing silicate (CSi-Mg) BIN is manufactured by using casting, freeze drying and sintering technique. It has extremely high bending strength (> 41 MPa) and stable internal and external structure. We have systematically studied the influence of parameters such as the paste component, freeze drying process, and sintering process on the mechanical strength involved in the manufacturing process. According to our manufacturing method, a wide range of inorganic ceramic implants and BINs with different sizes can also be fabricated. The CSi-Mg BIN also has good bioactivity and biodegradation property. This bioceramic BIN and manufacturing process are expected to be applied to a variety of orthopedic medical devices. This novel bioactive BIN is expected to replace the traditional metal IN and become a more effective way of treating fracture.

Abstract:
In order to run a fatigue analysis on a floating structure, it is common practice among ocean engineers to rely upon a large set of test cases, each with a unique set of environmental conditions. For a specific test site, the issue remains of how to obtain a limited set of environmental conditions for these test cases, sometimes known as bins, which can accurately recreate the conditions. When considering a floating offshore wind turbine, it is necessary to obtain a timeseries of not only the wave conditions, but also the wind conditions (and perhaps current, if possible). Thus, it is common to have greater than 5 dimensions in the time-series (e.g., significant wave height, wave period, wave direction, wind speed, wind direction, etc). The creation of bins in two dimensions is quite easily solved by creating an arbitrary grid and taking the mean of all the observations which fall in a specific cell. In higher dimensions, an N-dimensional cell is not easily visualized and so the resulting set of bins cannot easily be graphically represented. In this paper, an efficient, iterative algorithm is developed to convert N-dimensional metocean data into a set of discrete bins of arbitrary size. The algorithm works by setting a tolerance level on the number of observations that must be included in a cell in order to create a bin. If the population threshold is not met, the observations remain unbinned and another iteration is required. Generally, the population threshold can be a function of iteration number so that all observations will be binned. The algorithm can properly take into account extreme data by setting a tolerance level on the N-dimensional distance by which an observation can be included in a certain bin. A quality measure, q, is created to measure the level of representation of the original data by a set of bins, independent of the number of bins. Depending on the tolerance levels, the algorithm can be completed in seconds on a normal laptop for the available data set of 20 years with a 3-hour sampling rate. The observations and bins from a case study are shown as an example of how the bins can be created and visualized.

Abstract:
Abstract The numerical fatigue analysis of floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs) must account for the environmental loading over a typical design life of 25 years, and the stochastic nature of wind and waves is represented by design load cases (DLCs). In this statistical approach, combinations of wind speeds and directions are associated with different sea states, commonly defined via simplified wave spectra (Pierson-Moskowitz, JONSWAP), and their probability of occurrence is identified based on past observations. However, little is known about the difference between discretizing the wind/wave direction bins into (e.g.) 10deg bins rather than 30deg bins, and the impact it has on FOWT analyses. In addition, there is an interest in identifying the parameters that best represent real sea states (significant wave height, peak period) and wind fields (profile, turbulence) in lumped load cases. In this context, the aim of this work is to better understand the uncertainties associated to wind/wave direction bin size and to the use of metocean parameters as opposed to real wind and sea state conditions. A computational model was developed in order to couple offshore wind turbine models with realistic numerical metocean models, referred to as numerical prototype due to the highly realistic wind/wave conditions in which it operates. This method allows the virtual installation of FOWTs anywhere within a considered spatial domain (e.g. the Mediterranean Sea or the North Sea) and their behaviour to be evaluated in measured wind and modelled wave conditions. The work presented in this paper compares the long-term dynamic behaviour of a tension-leg platform (TLP) FOWT design subject to the numerical prototype and to lumped load cases with different direction bin sizes. Different approaches to representing the wind filed are also investigated, and the modelling choices that have the greatest impact on the fidelity of lumped load cases are identified. The fatigue analysis suggests that 30deg direction bins are sufficient to reliably represent long-term wind/wave conditions, while the use of a constant surface roughness length (as suggested by the IEC standards) seems to significantly overestimate the cumulated damage on the tower of the FOWT.
