We isolated flocculants-producing bacteria F2 from soil. It shows high and stable flocculating activity for Kaolin clay suspension. In order to increase yield of flocculants, we need determine the optimal obtained time. We measured the changes of several parameters using shaking flask experiment, including flocculating- rate, the content of polysaccharide, protein and glucose. It’s showed that the optimal obtained time of bio-flocculants is 21 h. And we built the model about the production of bio-flocculants. Bio-flocculants produced by Bacillus sp. and Pseudomonas sp. were evaluated as flocculating agents for the removal of Cu (II), Pb (II) and Cd (II) from chemical and textile wastewater industries. Both bio-flocculants were very effective for removal of heavy metals at a dosage not exceeding 0.1 mg/ml. However, the removal efficiency of heavy metals was dependant on initial concentration and type of bio-flocculants. 84.0% of Cu2+ and 99.5% of Pb2+ were removed from industrial wastewater using Bacillus sp. Polymer flocculants are used to promote solid–liquid separation processes in potable water and wastewater treatment. Recently, bio-based flocculants have received a lot of attention due to their superior advantages over conventional synthetic polymers or inorganic agents. Among natural polymers, polysaccharides show many benefits such as biodegradability, non-toxicity, ability to undergo different chemical modifications, and wide accessibility from renewable sources. Abstract The bio-flocculants used in this study were synthesised by the Mannich reaction, which includes three reagents: a substrate (tannin extracts of Acacia, Quebracho, and Castanea), formaldehyde, and an amine derivative (ethanolamine, diethanolamine, ammonium chloride). Nine natural flocculants were prepared by combining extracts and amines; these products were evaluated in three different wastewater samples in two experimental phases. In phase I, five physicochemical parameters were analysed. From the data obtained, a multivariate, completely randomised design (CRD-Manava) was used, with

Results showed that extraction of okra with seed removal and incubation followed by freeze drying enhanced the extract yield by 91% and improved the flocculating ability greatly by achieving solids removal of above 99% when compared with extraction without incubation and followed by oven drying. The effect of an incubation step was further investigated by using Chinese yam. With incubation, a higher extract yield of 2.95% was obt

Locally available and with infinite recycling possibilities, the use of earth as building material leads to one of the lowest environmental impacts in the construction sector. Recent advances in the earth materials field have been made based on concrete and ceramics technologies to facilitate its uses in dense areas. It is possible to modify clay particle interactions and the material's whole behavior by adding inorganic dispersants and flocculants into clay paste.
