The aim of this study was (i) to explore the biographical (age, race, level of education and marital status) predictors of treatment outcomes for alcohol use disorder and (ii) to investigate the role of motivation to change as a predictor of treatment outcomes for this disorder. The participants consisted of 100 males (50 from each race group – black and white). A biographical questionnaire and the Self-Regulation Questionnaire (SRQ) were employed as measuring instruments. AbstractBiographical variables, clinical ratings and psychological tests were used to predict performance of the eleven subjects involved in the International Biomedical Expedition to the Antarctic. The results showed that of the biographical predictors, past polar experience and age were best for predicting low stress and high arousal. Of the clinical predictions those made by a psychologist who had access to both interviews and psychometric material, and had been to the Antarctic, were more accurate than those of two other psychologists who had access to only the psychometric material and ha

The article analyzes the role of biographical predictors of individual psychological characteristics that are included in the ‘Big Five’ of personal qualities. The analysis of the relationship of answers to psychobiographical questions included in the questionnaire of management potential (Y.V. Sinyagin, 2014) with the results of the ‘Big Five’ model is presented. The necessity of studying personality traits conducive to successful activities is substantiated. On the basis of empirical research, predictors of managerial success are characterized. Arguments are given for including data containi

Factors associated with university success and with first-year job performance were sought. All entering sophomore students ( N = 970) over a 7-yr. period completed the Strong-Campbell Interest Inventory, California Psychological Inventory, and a 145-item biographical inventory. Grades and achievement scores were retrieved from university records. One year after their graduation, participants' supervisors described their job performance. Stepwise multiple regression determined variables associated with high grade point average and high job performance. Inventories were used as predictors separ

A study to determine the degree to which biographical and business variables can predict entrepreneurial success is described. Archival data obtained from the records of a venture capital organization were used. Chi-square analysis of application blank information for a weighting sample drawn from both groups revealed two items which significantly (p < .05) differentiated between the long tenure and short-tenure groups: number of previous jobs and full-time/part-time preference. Response weights were computed for these two items and used to calculate composite scores for the remaining holdout sample.
