Abstract:
For those seeking solace from the trepidations of this world, Prophet Muhammad:The Sultan of Hearts is a thoughtful work of reflection and comfort. This two-volume comprehensive narrative of enchanted times recollectingthe “Prophetic” summoning introduces the readers to Prophet Muhammad’ssīrah (biography) within a lucid and flowing stream of emotion. More thansimply an effort to record events, stating who said what and did what basedupon whose narration, as many of the traditional biographies tend to do, thiswork infuses events with meanings and feelings. As the authors indicate, thepurpose is not to speak about the Prophet, but to “let him be observed in hisown actions” (p. xvi), creating thereby an “awareness” of his life not as a solefigure, but “in connection with his companions” in order to “present a lifemodel that has been miraculously constructed” (p. xvi). This sīrah is not about reinterpreting events. In fact, a great deal of whatit says falls back on the earlier and primary biographies of such figures as IbnHisham, Ibn Sa‘d, Ibn Kathir, Ibn Abd al-Barr, and al-Tabari, as well as thenine Sunni canonical Hadith collections (p. xvii). Its claim to novelty is notdue to this “synthesis” alone, but more to its focus on the Prophet’s life in societyas a member of that society, rather than on the wars in which he engaged,as if those events were the most significant aspects of his mission (p. xiii). The authors’ intention, as they put it, is not simply to speak about the Prophetin their own descriptions, but rather to observe him in his own actions. Hismulti-dimensional personality is brought forth not only as a Prophet, but also ...

Abstract The prophet’s biography had a supreme place in the Turkish writings. In this vein, the present research’s title is “The Meccan Era in the Turkish Writings from the prophet’s birth till the Prophetic Immigration to Medina”. Therefore in this research, a great amount of information about the Meccan era in the Turkish Writings from the prophet’s birth till the Prophetic Immigration to Medina was collected. It also included prophet’s life before and after the mission till the immigration to Abyssinia, the boycott, passing the second Aqaba Pledge, the Prophet's stand towards some contemporary nations and finally, the conclusion and the list of citied works and references. Before the prophet Muhammad Ibn Abd Allah's (PBUH) birth, the Arabian Peninsula lived in full darkness then it was enlightened by Islam. The prophet (PBUH) was not detached from the universal arena; rather, he was aware of the surrounding nations led by the Persians and Romans during that time. The Turks became in contact with Arabs from the earlier ages of the Islamic history. Moreover, the prophet sat in the Turkish tent and it is noticed that the Turkish Literature has paid great attention to the prophet’s biography, as well as the Meccan and Medina eras, since his childhood till his prophecy and all the details that related to the holy prophetic immigration to Medina, as we will see in the followings researches.

Abstract:
Al-Shafaa Bint Awf is a very noble follower of the prophet Muhammad ( PBUH) , but the sources give scant materials about her in comparison with the male followers or some females like Khadija and Aisha and other Prophet's glorious wives. Al-Shaffa was the mother of one of the earliest follower of the prophet , although her link with the prophet and the Sirah is back to much earlier date; Her family was connected with both families of Abd-Allah and Amina ( the parents of Muhammad). There are reports talking about her attendance of Muhammad's (PBUH) birth. She enjoyed very close ties with Muhammad and his family, and became one of the first believers in Islam. She also emigrated to the Medina and lived there with the company of her son Abd Al-Rahman. Lastly, there is a third aspect in the biography of Al-shaffa that was her death which is connected with an important Sunnah, that was Al-Itaka or ransoming of the dyed peoples by freeing slaves and giving money in charity of them.

The reasons for this interest are numerous and complex, ranging from religious to ideological and political motivations. The earliestArabic biographies of the Prophet date back to the second century of the Hijra/eighth century A.C. The Sira of Ibn-Ishaq and that of Ibn-Hisham (basedon the former) have had the greatest influence on the vast literature concerningthe Sira. Yet there are Siras dating back to the sixth and seventh centuriesA.H. which are still in the form of manuscripts waiting to be edited. TheQur‘an and the sayings and actions of the Prophet (Hadith) are the two mostimportant sources for studying the Prophet’s Sira. The Prophet’s biography has attracted great interest also in the West. Abstract:
Ibn Ishaq’s rhetorical use of genre in his edited biography of the life of the Prophet Muhammad instances the authority accorded by the early Muslim community to Biblical forms familiar to them. The genre in question is the “universal history” modeled by the Genesis-through-Kings saga contained in the Hebrew Bible. At the “center” of this saga stands the Deuteronomic restatement of Mosaic law; likewise, at the “center” of Ibn Ishaq’s biography stands a restatement of Qur’anic legislation contained in the Prophet’s “Farewell Sermon.” Ibn Ishaq’s biography subtly accomplishes both Muslim Biblical interpretation and legal interpretation by means of a rhetorical use of allusion.

Abstract:
This research project aims to chart the development of Islamic piety centered on the figure of the Prophet, through the practice of the « prayer on the Prophet ». It begins with the prayer itself which is present in the founding documents of the legal-theological tradition. It continues with a philological analysis of a significant selection of prayer formulas (taṣliya, pl.taṣliyāt ) spanning the beginning of Islam through to the 19th century, with a special emphasis on the traditions of the Maghreb, specifically Morocco. The purpose of such an overview is to identify what these formulas reveal about Muhammad, his character, his virtues, his prophetic office and spiritual role, as well as uncover the doctrinal implications of these texts. This analysis leads to a thematic synthesis showing the progressive development, particularly from the 12th century on, of prayer formulas that put emphasis on the metaphysical and cosmic dimensions of the Prophet, more precisely of the « Light » or « Muhammadan reality ». The Sufi masters who composed these texts thus put the Prophet at the heart of both doctrine and spiritual practice

About two years after publishing so called Muhammad cartoons in Denmark, the Swedish regional newspaper

Nerikes Allehanda in Orebro published an editorial on self-censorship. A drawing of Prophet Muhammad as a Roundabout dog, drawn by Lars Vilks, was illustrating the article. Publishing of Muhammad drawing was followed by reactions both in Sweden and in some other countries especially in the muslim world. There are many differences and similarities between the publishing in Denmark and Sweden. There are differences and similarities between the two cases even regarding to the reactions in muslim countries. Mass media have certainly played an important role in mediating information about the publishing to people in muslim countries. Which information and how they were mediated are significant for shaping perceptions and thereby the reactions that followed the publishing of Muhammad drawing in Sweden. This essay is investigating how newspapers and online newspapers (web newspapers) in nine muslim countries reported about the publishing of Muhammad drawing. The subjects that newspapers were interesting of and the discourses domination reporting are in focus for this investigation. This essay will also investigate how newspapers and online newspapers in muslim countries covered two issues which were well covered by Swedish media, A threat against Lars Vilks from organization "Islamic State in Iraq" and a statement from the Iranian president Ahmadinejad regarding the Muhammad drawing in Nerikes Allehanda.

Abstract:
Although counter-discourse - or the Qur'ān's quotation of opponents real or fictitious - is a fundamental characteristic of the Qurānic rhetoric, it has never been systematically studied. This PhD seeks to partly fill in this gap. For this purpose, our work will propose a localization, a quantification and a categorization of the phenomenon in the Qurānic corpus. The investigation will attempt to answer the following questions : how the Qur'anic discourse rejects the words that denies itself ? What are the discursive strategies in place ? What are the representations of the opponents ? This work will use multidisciplinary science of history of religions, theories of linguistics (polyphony, intertextuality, and reported speech) and science of argumentation and rhetoric

Abstract:
This chapter explores the concept of history of early Muslim historians and their attitude towards the Prophet’s biography (Sira). It discusses how evolving tastes and values affected their biographical writing. It also discusses when and why facts began to get blurred and invented incidents and miracles began to be ascribed to the Prophet, leading to the way in which the Prophet’s biography is dealt with in the twentieth century. The chapter further discusses how the Prophet’s biography was written in Europe during the Middle Ages and the influence that modern European trends of thought and contact with the West had on its writing. The chapter highlights Montgomery Watt’s Defence of Muhammad and critically engages with it. The chapter closes with Hussein Amin’s wish for a new, objective, unapologetic and truthful biography that is grounded in the Prophet’s own time and milieu, reflecting his contemporary ethical standards and values.

Abstract:
Born into the degenerate and idolatrous line of Kābil (Cain), Hari (Kr̥ṣṇa) is the only Hindu god who punctuates the line of traditional Islamic prophets after Ādam. The narrative unit on Hari is the singular focus of this chapter. Hari’s tale exemplifies Sultan’s effort to minimize local competition to the Prophet of Islam: the inclusion of this “fallen” god-turned-prophet—one of the most popular deities of medieval Bengal, and the supreme deity of the Gauṛīya Vaiṣṇavas—appropriates and marginalizes a native rival through his demotion to human status, and his conversion to Islam. He is upheld as a warning to the people of Bengal, a false god and seductive icon, whose adultery would lead only to divine wrath and the punishments of hell. In examining the complex strategies by which Sultān simultaneously demolishes the Kr̥ṣṇa avatāra while establishing the Prophet Muḥammad as the avatāra for the Kali age, this chapter shows how missionary translation is a form of creative iconoclasm.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the legal characteristics of fiqh and responsibility in the Muslim legal system. The stages of the origin and development of fiqh are listed. The article reveals a three-level system of punishments under Muslim law, the elements of which are such types of punishments as: "Hudud", "qisas" and "tazir". In conclusion, the article concludes that fiqh is characterized as a set of theoretical knowledge about the Islamic faith and its practical provisions of law enforcement (Sharia) based on the norms of the main sources of the Muslim legal system - the Holy Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

Abstract:
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (AMC, or Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at) believe themselves to be Muslims. The AMC was founded by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad in 1889 as a revival movement within Islam. Unlike all other sects of Islam, they believe that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835–1908) of Qadian (a small town in Gurdaspur district of Punjab, India) is the same promised Messiah who was prophesied by the prophet Muhammad. Other sects believe that the promised Messiah is yet to come and, therefore, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is a false prophet and his followers are non-Muslims.
