Abstract It is well established that mice lacking factor VIII (E16 or fVIII−/−) respond to intravenous (i.v.) or intraperitoneal (i.p.) injections of therapeutic doses of human fVIII in PBS. This leads to both T-cell priming for cytokine production and inhibitor formation against fVIII with specificity similar to that of hemophilia A patients (Pratt et al., 2004). The lack of tolerance to murine fVIII may be important in the ability of fVIII−/− mice to respond to human fVIII. Nonetheless, the ability to respond effectively in the absence of extrinsic adjuvant begs the question of what is the “

It is widely recognized that innate macrophage immune reactions to implant debris are central to the inflammatory responses that drive biologic implant failure over the long term. Less common, adaptive lymphocyte immune reactions to implant debris, such as delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH), can also affect implant performance. It is unknown which key patient factors, if any, mediate these adaptive immune responses that potentiate particle/macrophage mediated osteolysis. Abstract:
Social learning offers an efficient route through which humans and other animals learn about potential dangers in the environment. Such learning inherently relies on the transmission of social information and should imply selectivity in what to learn from whom . Here, we conducted two observational learning experiments to assess how humans learn about danger and safety from members (‘demonstrators') of an other social group than their own. We show that both fear and safety learning from a racial in-group demonstrator was more potent than learning from a racial out-group demonstrator.
