Abstract:
Prosopis africana (G. &Perr.) Taub (Mimosaceae) is a large tree native to dry tropical Africa and characteristic of dry leguminous forests. Different parts of this plant are used to treat wounds, skin infection, and to fight against cancer. Literature review indicated various pharmacological properties. Despite these medicinal properties, the chemical composition studies remain limited. This study aims to isolate and characterize secondary metabolites from P. africana leaves and evaluate their antibacterial and antioxidant properties. Air-dried powdered leaves of P. africana were macerated

Candida spp. are well known for their impact on our life as opportunistic pathogens and can produce secondary metabolites, which are an interesting source of high-value chemicals and are often diffi cult to synthesize chemically. Some of these metabolites are already being used as active antimicrobials or pharmaceuticals. GC-MS analysis of chemical compounds was conducted in ethyl acetate of fi ve Candida species (C. parapsilosis, C. albicans, C. krusei, C. glabrata and C. kefyr). The results showed that about 249 chemical compounds were detected from all tested Candida species. Fifteen bioact

The potential of Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and its derivatives produced by the gut bacteria is not well studied. The present work focuses on the role of DHA metabolites on human physiology. Fermentation of DHA was performed on MS basal medium by bacteria such as Bacillus sp., Lactobacillus sp., Clostridium sp., Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus sp. and Enterococcus sp. The metabolites like 2-Nonadecanone, Z,Z-6,27-Hexatriactontadien-2-one, cis-9-Hexadecenal, Eicosanal, Stigmast-5-En-3-ol and Oleate were found to be predominant and showed strongest antimicrobial activity against Bacillus subtil

The market demand for black polyimide (BPI) has grown hugely in the field of flexible copper-clad laminates (FCCLs) as a replacement for transparent yellow polyimide. The 3,6-bis(thiophen-2-yl)diketopyrrolopyrroles (TDPP) derivative is recognized for its high molar extinction coefficient. In this research, we have synthesized a diamine monomer named 3,6-bis[5-(4-amino-3-fluorophenyl)thiophen-2-yl]-2,5-bis(2-ethylhexyl)pyrrolo[4,3-c]pyrrole-1,4-dione (DPPTENFPDA), featuring a TDPP unit attached by fluorinated benzene rings. In this paper, an analytical protocol was developed for the simultaneous determination of phthalates (di-methyl phthalate DMP, di-ethyl phthalate DEP, di-isobutyl phthalate DiBP, di-n-butyl phthalate DBP, bis-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate DEHP, di-n-octyl phthalate DNOP) and bisphenol A (BPA). The extraction technique used was the ultrasound vortex assisted dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction (UVA-DLLME). The method involves analyte extraction using 75 µL of benzene and subsequent analysis by gas chromatography combined with ion trap mass spectrometry (GC-IT/MS). The method is sensitive, relia

In recent years greater attention has been paid to the presence of pollutants in wastewater treatment plants, mainly because of strict environmental regulations and the possibility of reusing treated water in industrial processes. Since some organic pollutant compounds are not sufficiently removed in conventional activated sludge treatment (CAST) plants, new treatment processes have been developed, such as membrane bioreactors (MBRs). In this study a submerged membrane bioreactor (MBR) was used to treat mixed industrial wastewaters in parallel with a CAST plant. Two hydraulic retention times (

Anona squamosa Linn leaves methanol extract was tested for anticancer activity, and the active components were identified in this study. The brine shrimp lethality test (BSLT) was used to measure the chemicals toxicity of the A. squamosa leaves extracted at room temperature using methanol. An anticancer test on HeLa cells was also carried out using this hazardous extract. The identification of the active compounds was carried out by Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. At an LC50 value of 26.30ppm the extract was toxic, while at 35.65, it showed anticancer activity. Furthermore, 15 compounds
