Abstract:
By the turn of the twenty‐first century, women writing about electing to share their lives with female canines directly confront a strange sort of backlash. Even as their extensions of the feminist forms of personal criticism contribute to significant developments in theories of sex, gender, and species, they become targets of criticism as “indulgent” for focusing on their dogs. Comparing these elements in and around popular memoirs like Caroline Knapp's Pack of Two: The Intricate Bond between People and Dogs (1998) and Deirdre McCloskey's Crossing: A Memoir (1999), as well as academic studies

Abstract:
This paper analyses and discusses the present-day use of the noun bitch, as the term in contemporary usage seems to have started to deviate from the lexical definition. Traditionally considered an insult when applied to a woman, bitch has recently started being used as a self-imposed label rather than an applied one. Such a phenomenon indicates reappropriation, a negotiation of the meaning and semantics of a word. The purpose of this study is to investigate the origin and semantics of the term, as well as its historical usage and developments. Of particular interest and significance regarding

This chapter explores how white recuperations of the term Bitch perpetuate anti-Blackness and simultaneously make feminism intelligible by entrenching imperialist, white supremacist, capitalist cis-heteropatriarchy. It examines three key examples that explore Bitch performativity: Joreen (Jo Freeman)’s The Bitch Manifesto, the viral video “Bitchy Resting Face,” and the comedy series Great News, coproduced by Tina Fey. Collectively, these texts argue that the label and attitude are worth reclaiming because those who have been labeled bitch refuse to be “enslaved,” are meaner, and are therefore

The bronze birch borer (BBB), Agrilus anxius, is a significant pest native to North America, affecting birch trees (Betula spp.). Its larvae burrow through the cambial layer, causing tree decline and mortality, especially in stressed North American birches and healthy European and Asian birches. Although endemic in North America, BBB has caused widespread damage, particularly in urban areas and during droughts. The pest poses a potential threat to European and Asian birch forests if it were to spread. Currently, there is no history of classical biological control against BBB. Several natural e
