Abstract:
Introduction: Pleuropulmonary blastoma (PPB) is a rare primary neoplasm of the thorax frequently diagnosed in early childhood. Pleuropulmonary blastoma arises from primitive intrathoracic mesenchyme—either pulmonary and pleural, or both. Patients with pleuropulmonary blastoma usually present with respiratory symptoms and are often misdiagnosed as pneumonia in the early clinical course. Pleuropulmonary blastoma can be further classified into types I, II, and III based on histological components. Such histological distinctions have significant implications for the treatment of these lesions as w

Abstract:
Abstract Pleuropulmonary blastoma is a rare, primitive primary neoplasm of the thorax in young children. The tumor, which is often but not always associated with cystic lung lesions, may arise in pulmonary parenchyma, the mediastinum, and pleura. Histologically, it is characterized by a biphasic neoplastic population of undifferentiated-appearing small round cells and larger spindle-shaped cells. A proportion of these cancers may also manifest more specific mesenchymal differentiation. In contrast to the pulmonary blastoma of adults, a malignant epithelial component does not occur. We present

Mediastinal tumors are exceedingly rare during fetal development, presenting significant diagnostic challenges and potentially leading to severe outcomes such as stillbirth or metastatic disease if not promptly identified and managed. Pleuropulmonary blastomas are primitive mesenchymal tumors often linked to mutations in the DICER1 gene, indicating a hereditary pattern associated with other common adult neoplasms with dominant inheritance. This report describes a case involving a 20-year-old Caucasian woman whose pregnancy was complicated by a stillbirth in the second trimester. Initial suspic

Pulmonary blastoma is one of the least common primary malignant tumors of the lung. There is considerable controversy as to its exact histogenesis; it is uncertain if it arises from a single cell or if it is a mixed tumor arising from two different cell lines. We report three patients with pulmonary blastomas, describing in detail their radiological, cytological, and histopathological features.

The present thesis is a contribution to unravel the molecular mechanisms that underlie urodele regeneration. Urodele amphibians (newts and salamanders) are among the few vertebrates with the remarkable ability to regenerate lost body appendages, like the limbs and the tail. Urodele tail and limb regeneration occurs via blastemal epimorphic regeneration. A blastema is a mound of progenitor cells that accumulates at the amputation plane and eventually gives rise to the missing structures. It is known today that dedifferentiating muscle fibers at the amputation plane contribute to the blastema ce
