Length-to-weight and length-to-length relations were estimated for 15 freshwater fishes belonging to the order Cypriniformes from Yuxi power station to Kaitan reservoir dam trunk stream of the Oujiang River, Zhejiang Province, China. The following species were studied: Distoechodon tumirostris Peters, 1881, Xenocypris davidi Bleeker, 1871, Plagiognathops microlepis (Bleeker, 1871), Hemibarbus labeo (Pallas, 1776), Hemibarbus maculatus Bleeker, 1871, Chanodichthys erythropterus (Basilewsky, 1855), Culter alburnus Basilewsky, 1855, Chanodichthys dabryi (Bleeker, 1871), Opsariichthys bidens Günth

A checklist of parasitic cymothoids from Malaysian waters is presented based on available literature and material collected from 2010 to 2020. Most of the collected specimens were recorded from waters of Terengganu, east coast of Peninsular Malaysia (facing the South China Sea), whereas literature records were included from Sarawak, along the Miri coast of northwest Borneo. The checklist comprises 19 species in ten genera, seven of which are new records from Malaysia: Anilocra nemipteri Bruce, 1987; Ceratothoa barracuda Martin, Bruce & Nowak, 2015; Ceratothoa carinata (Bianconi, 1869); Cym

The present study was conducted to assess the harvesting procedures, nutritional value of stingray in the coastal district Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh and its utilization as value-added product. Data were collected through direct observation, focus group discussion, questionnaire interview and cross check interview. It was found that stingray was mainly caught by artisanal fishery using gill net, set bag net and long line within 5-40 m depth ranges about 100-200 km at west direction, 10-60 km at south direction and 50-100 m depth ranges about 60-100 km at southwest direction from Fishery ghat, Cox

SummaryThis work investigated the relationship of host size, seasons, and water quality parameters with the prevalence and intensity of Cornudiscoides agarwali on Mystus bleekeri collected from the Dikrong River in Arunachal Pradesh, India from February 2016 to January 2017. A total of 2760 specimens of C. agarwali were recovered from 114 individuals of M. bleekeri. The levels of mean intensity, but not the prevalence, of infection of C. agarwali were positively correlated with fish host size, peaking in the largest size class (45.20 ± 5.69 parasites/fish). The prevalence values had a statisti

Although previously classified in the genus Pseudanthias Bleeker, 1871, the holotype of Anthias xanthomaculatus Fourmanoir & Rivaton, 1979 from New Caledonia was recently shown to be a juvenile specimen of the genus Odontanthias Bleeker, 1873, and possibly conspecific with Odontanthias grahami Randall & Heemstra, 2006 from eastern Australia. Meaningful comparison with the latter species was problematic as it was known only from four adult specimens. Recent collection of a size series of six specimens from the Lord Howe Rise confirms that the two nominal species are conspecific. Odontan
