Abstract:
The primary purpose of this article is to examine how the theme of money developed in the work of the key early 20th-century Italian modernist writers Giovanni Papini, Aldo Palazzeschi, Giovanni Boine, and Carlo Michelstaedter. It also studies the connection between the theme of money and two central concepts in modernist literature: the crisis in the concept of objectivity, and the interpretation of reality as a continuous flow that rejects every possible conceptualization. I argue that money was a metaphor for the crisis of objective truth, a symbol for an existence that had lost all perspec

High-energy synchrotron x-ray diffraction (XRD) has been used to quantify load transfer in bovine plexiform bone. By using both wide-angle and small-angle XRD, strains in the mineral as well as the collagen phase of bone were measured as a function of applied compressive stress. We suggest that a greater proportion of the load is borne by the more mineralized woven bone than the lamellar bone as the applied stress increases. With a further increase in stress, load is shed back to the lamellar regions until macroscopic failure occurs. The reported data fit well with reported mechanisms of micro

Nowadays it is possible to perform an optimal implant placement and to achieve a good long-term prognosis for an implant-borne prosthesis in the grafted posterior maxilla. This study evaluates the efficiency of one-stage piezosurgery by using as graft material a combination of particulate bovine bone substitutes with platelet-rich fibrin to achieve sinus lift. We included in this study 14 cases of one-stage sinus lift surgeries during which we placed 30 standard implants. Background: Maintaining a good ridge is required during prosthodontic treatment. Hence, adequate alveolar bone support is considered an important factor in pursuing successful dentures. Propolis extract combined with bovine bone graft is a recent and innovative material in the process of socket preservation, as the caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) it contains can suppress the inflammatory process. Purpose: This study aims to determine the effective dose of propolis extract combined with bovine bone graft on the number of osteoblasts and osteoclasts in socket preservation. Methods: Twenty-ei

ABSTRACT Objectives: To evaluate and compare the dental and skeletal changes with conventional and miniscrew-supported maxillary expansion appliances in adolescents. Materials and Methods: Forty patients were divided into two groups, with one group receiving a tooth-borne expander and the other group receiving an expander supported by four miniscrews (bone-borne). Multiplanar coronal and axial slices obtained from cone-beam computed tomography images were used to measure the changes in transverse skeletal widths, buccal bone thickness, tooth inclination, and root length. Bovine bone marrow is traditionally regarded as a highly nutritious food that has been widely used as a medicinal and health food for several decades in China. A large number of adulterated and counterfeit bone marrows from pigs and donkeys have been used in place of bovine bone marrow in commercial products, which are almost identical morphologically between species. Therefore, we explored the feasibility of multiplex PCR technology to differentiate bovine bone marrows from different domestic animals. Three pairs of specific primers for bovine, pig, and donkey were designed according to the c

This study evaluated the morphological and chemical composition of the following bone substitutes: cancellous and cortical organic bovine bone with macro and microparticle size ranging from 1.0 to 2.0 mm and 0.25 to 1.0 mm, respectively; inorganic bovine bone with particle size ranging from 0.25 to 1.0 mm; hydroxyapatite with particle size ranging from 0.75 to 1.0 mm; and demineralized freeze-dried bone allograft with particle size ranging from 0.25 to 0.5 mm. The samples were sputter-coated with gold in an ion coater, the morphology was observed and particle size was measured under vacuum by

Background: Hydroxyapatite (HA) from bovine bone has been widely used as bone filler in many fractures cases. HA can also be made from cuttlefish bone (Sepia spp.) that has abundant availability in Indonesia and contains 84% CaCO3, which is a basic ingredient of HA. However, research on the effects of HA from cuttlefish bone on bone regeneration parameters has not been done yet. Aim: This study aimed to determine femur bone regeneration of white rats (Rattus norvegicus) through the use of HA from cuttlefish bone (Sepia spp.) as bone filler. Background: A Bone graft is a transplanted material to enhance the bone healing response through the osteogenic, osteoconductive, and osteoinductive process on the tissue. Bone autograft has long been the gold standard with the susceptibility of limited supply from the donor and the morbidity risk. The limitation presented by both autograft and allograft has led to the development of bovine hydroxyapatite (BHA). This research was conducted to evaluate the clinical and radiological outcomes of bovine hydroxyapatite as a bone graft. Methods: This research is a descriptive study using a consecutiv

Bone graft materials from synthetic, bovine, and human sources were analyzed and tested for in vitro cytotoxicity on dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) and osteosarcoma cells (Saos-2). Raman spectroscopy indicated significant amounts of collagen only in human bone-derived materials, where the mineral to protein ratio was 3.55 ± 0.45, consistent with bone. X-ray fluorescence revealed tungsten (W) concentrations of 463 ± 73, 400 ± 77, and 92 ± 42 ppm in synthetic, bovine, and human bone chips, respectively. The article considers comparison of the outcomes of surgically assisted rapid palatal expansion with the use of tooth-borne and bone-borne expansion appliances in patients with transversal maxillary deficiency. 76 computed tomography scans of 38 patients (24 with bone-borne anchorage, 14 with tooth-borne ones) were studied. Examination of the expansion was performed before the treatment onset and after the activation of the screw of the distraction apparatus. Expansion was evaluated in the areas of canines, premolars and first molars. The maximal amount of the vestibular tooth crown inclinatio
