Abstract:
We investigate the effect of the presence of non-pure fermionic neutrinos on the relativistic effective degrees of freedom in the early universe. The statistics of neutrinos is transformed continuously from Fermi–Dirac to Maxwell–Boltzmann statistics. We find that the relativistic degrees of freedom decreases with the deviation from pure Fermi–Dirac statistics of neutrinos if there are constant and large lepton asymmetries. Additionally, we confirm that the change of the statistics of neutrinos from Fermi–Dirac to Maxwell–Boltzmann is not sufficient to cover the excess of the effective number

Abstract:
An intriguing question related to black hole thermodynamics is that the entropy of a region shall scale as the area rather than the volume. In this essay we propose that the microscopical degrees of freedom contained in a given region of space, are statistically related in such a way that obey a nonstandard statistics, in which case an holographic hypothesis would not be needed. This could provide us with some insight about the nature of degrees of freedom of the geometry and/or the way in which gravitation plays a role in the statistic correlation between the degrees of freedom of a system.

This thesis investigates if Gaussian restricted Boltzmann machines can be used to model the Swedish term structure of interest rates. The models are evaluated based on the ability to make one-day-ahead forecasts and the ability to generate long term scenarios. The results are compared to simple benchmark models, such as assuming a random walk. The effects of preprocessing the input data with principal component analysis are also investigated. The results show that the ability to make one-day-ahead forecasts, measured as a mean squared error, is comparable to a random walk benchmark, both in-sa

The distribution of particles in a rarefied gas in a vessel can be described by the Boltzmann equation. As an approximation of the solution to this equation, Caprino, Pulvirenti and Wagner [3] constructed a random N-particle system. This chapter is the first subset of a set of critical summaries Boltzmann’s writings on kinetic-molecular theory. It covers a first period in which he tried to construct the laws of thermal equilibrium, including the existence of the entropy function and the Maxwell–Boltzmann law, by various means including the principle of least action, Maxwell’s collision formula, the ergodic hypothesis, and a procedure of adiabatic variation. This is an immensely fertile period in which Boltzmann introduced several of the basic concepts, problems, and difficulties of modern statistical mechanics.
