Valence bond angles and torsion angles in these side chains are relatively uniform, but C—N (amide) and C—O (carbonyl) bond lengths depend on the state of hydrogen bonding to the carbonyl O atom and N—H hydrogen. The conventional rolled-up model for carbon nanocones assumes that the cone is constructed from a rolled-up graphene sheet joined seamlessly, which predicts five distinct vertex angles. This model completely ignores any effects due to the changing curvature, and all bond lengths and bond angles are assumed to be those for the planar graphene sheet. Clearly, curvature effects will become more important closest to the cone vertex, and especially so for the cones with the smaller apex angles. So there is always interest to develop durable novel coating systems to reduce the maintenance cost. Abstract The impregnation of a fiber bed by capillary forces in a gravity field is analyzed. Fiber bed is modeled as infinitely long, parallel cylinders arranged in a hexagonal pattern. Quasi-static creeping flow equation is used to obtain the fluid front location and shape during impregnation of the fiber bed. The fluid front motion during impregnation are presented for different Bond numbers, contact angles and fiber volume fractions. It is found that impregnation velocity is significantly affected by contact angle and fiber volume fraction at the initial stages of impregnation. The influenc

Proteins are important macromolecules responsible for a variety of processes in living organisms. One of the most important features of proteins is their ability to respond to environmental stimuli, such as changes in intracellular metal concentration by binding metal ions, which in turns triggers structural changes within the protein that can modify its function or allow the protein to participate in a signaling pathway. One such signaling protein is the so-called neuronal calcium sensor 1 protein or NCS1, which binds Ca2+ along with other abiogenic metals such as Li+, and the metal binding r

Abstract:
Molecular dynamics computer simulations have been performed to study the character o disordering of atom configurations in Si surface layers. The relaxation of free Si surface was investigated. The main structural parameters were calculated, such as a distribution of angle between chemical bonds, the density of dangling bonds, structural peculiarities of Si surface layers and radiation effects. It was concluded that Si surface at real conditions is a disordered phase similar to a-Si

Abstract:
Ab initio calculation was performed to investigate the nature of Si-Al bonding in Al based alloys. Total electronic energy Etot for different configurations of the model cluster Si2Al6 was calculated. When the model cluster consists of two perfect tetrahedrons there is a strong influence of the Si-Si distance on the Si-Al adiabatic potential. The equilibrium distance between Si and Al atoms increases with the length of Si-Si bond increasing. It was concluded that description of Si clusters in Al matrix demands an account of the angle depending part of Si-Al interaction.

Abstract:
During the Summer and Autumn of 2023, Lough Neagh in Northern Ireland was affected by a cyanobacterial bloom. Testing of water from within the bloom reported high concentrations of one type of cyanobacterial toxin, microcystins. Samples were taken from the Lough of eels, roach, perch, pollan and bream and tested for a range of cyanobacterial toxins, including microcystins, nodularins, anatoxin, cylindrospermopsin and saxitoxin. Each sample comprised 10 fish, and five samples were taken of each species, except for bream for which a single sample was collected. The fish were dissected and the ed

Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) and other in-situ and remote sensing dielectric methods for determining the soil water content had become standard in both research and practice in the last two decades. Limitations of existing dielectric methods in some soils, and introduction of new agricultural measurement devices or approaches based on soil dielectric properties mandate improved understanding of the relationship between the measured effective permittivity (dielectric constant) and the soil water content. Mounting evidence indicates that consideration must be given not only to the volume frac
