Abstract:
We compared the social character networks of biographical, legendary and fictional texts in search for marks of genre differentiation. We examined the degree distribution of character appearance and found a power-law-like distribution that does not depend on the literary genre. We also analyzed local and global complex network measures, in particular, correlation plots between the recently introduced Lobby index and degree, betweenness and closeness centralities. Assortativity plots, which previous literature claims to separate fictional from real social networks, were also studied. We found no relevant differences among genres for the books studied when applying these network measures and we provide an explanation why the previous assortativity result is not correct.

Abstract:
“Next Flood Level of Communication: Social Networks” (2013) published by Shaker Verlag, by Professor Ştefan Vlăduţescu from University of Craiova and Professor Ella Magdalena Ciuperca from National Academy of Intelligence “Mihai Viteazul” Bucuresti, is a book of intellectual elevation and high expression of ideas. The authors’ hypothesis and the nuclear idea of their book is that by their amplitude, by their performance, and by their self-generating, self-organization and self-improvement capabilities, social networks are the next flood level of communication. “The observational-wave of hypothesis is reinforced by an interrogative wave: what is next after next? If "End of Metaphysics" in Martin Heidegger is perfection of metaphysics, if the "End of History" in Francis Fukuyama is perfection of history, we believe that "next flood level" is neither the last level, nor the perfect level of communication” asserts the authors. Social network is not quite the perfection it is only the configured direction to untouchable perfection. Social network is the path to perfection in constant concern itself, in self-knowledge, and in self-superior capitalization of humanity as a whole, of humanity as a global, integrated and homogeneous and with obvious nuclei of heterogeneity macro-social network. However, next of the next is something, at the same time apparent and hidden, from the actual potential of the current concrete. The future always has its seeds in the past and the present.

Abstract:
The modem network and digitalized society is full of social changes in various accustomed spheres of our lives including transformation in food practices. The author gives an example of the easiest way how to book food virtually and get it home this day according to tastes of a customer. Moreover the article represents new forms of specific societies existed in the Internet called food-blogs. This, on the author's mind, changes the traditional mechanism of people's choice. Food-blogs are analyzed through the prism of multifunctionalism and dynamics of food and trust. When the process of food preparing and eating attains new communicative functions. Moreover the author notes some social reasons why one user choses this or that food-blog. For instance, the popularity of blogger and network users trust, mostly «blinded». Beside the point, the conception of «trust» used in the text is based on science works of contemporary sociologist P. Sztompka. Both socialized and communicative functions of food are described through theories of R. Bart and G. Simmel. It is underlined in the text that food transforms and gains new qualities notin traditional ways we used to think but in social and cultural construction in virtual space and through network communication.

Abstract:
The ubiquity of networks in our social lives has long been recognized, and their importance in our economic lives is increasingly recognized as well. Yet the literature synthesized in Matthew O. Jackson's Social and Economic Networks, which covers the theory of how networks form, decay, and shape behavior at a general level, has had little influence on either applied theory or empirical work in this area. This is partly because of limitations of network theory as it has evolved in this literature. After describing the network theory presented in the book, I discuss these limitations and make some tentative suggestions as to how they might be overcome. (JEL D85, L14, Z13)

Abstract:
Most of the web based social systems like Face book, twitter, other mailing systems and social networks are developed for users to share their information, to interact and engage with the community. Most of the times these social networks will give some troubles to the users by spam messages, threaten messages, hackers and so on.. Many of the researchers worked on this and gave several approaches to detect the spam, hackers and other trouble shoots. In this paper we are discussing some tools to detect the spam messages in social networks. Here we are using RF, SVM, KNN and MLP machine learning algorithms across rapid miner and WEKA. It gives the better results when compared with other tools.

Abstract:
Online presentations of printed books have led to a complete transformation of publishers’ work, books’ status, and readers’ habits. Through their webpages, publishers invite visitors to create communities, to join social networks, to communicate their likes and dislikes. Everything about the digital presentation of printed books makes manifest the online existence of both readers and books. How, then, can printed books not only compete, but also evolve and become more visible, by means of digital tools and platforms? This article seeks answers to this question by asking: Through their digital tools are publishers’ webpages placing value on literature or on communication? Are digital platforms transforming the objet-livre (the physical object of the book) from a tool into a work of art? And are they transforming visitors from readers into collectors?

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to construct a multi-relational network for an online sharing platform in the age of the sharing economy, to identify the factors impacting users’ product adoption behavior and to predict consumers’ purchases of user-generated products on the platform. Design/methodology/approach The study conducted multi-relational network analyses of five different sub-networks in identifying influential factors for e-book adoption. Meanwhile, the study adopted machine learning methods with different classification algorithms and feature sets to predict users’ purchasing behaviors. Findings The authors found that an individual’s adoption of a product was correlated with his or her purchasing habits and collaboration with others on the online sharing platform. Through the inclusion of network features, the authors were able to build a predictive model that forecasted consumers’ purchases of user-generated e-books with reasonable accuracy. Research limitations/implications The interdisciplinary approach used in the study can serve as a good reference for identifying factors impacting the product adoption behavior of users in the online sharing platform, through employing different sociological and computational methods. Practical implications The outcome of the study has provided important managerial implications, especially for the design of social commerce platform in the age of the sharing economy. Social implications The authors verified the social influence impacting consumers’ product adoption behavior and shed light on the value of collaboration in the age of the sharing economy. Originality/value The study was the first to identify user-generated e-book adoption on an online sharing platform from a multi-relational network perspective. The idea and the approach supplied a new method of behavioral analysis in the context of a sharing economy.

Abstract:
In present day’s social networking technologies are increased because of different user’s communication with each others. There are different types of networks are available in present situations like face book, twitter and LinkedIn. These are the valuable resources for data mining applications because of prevalence presents of different user’s information present in outside environment. Sentiment analysis is the process that defines attitudes, views, emotions and opinions from text, database sources and tweets. Sentiment analysis involves to categorize data based on different opinions like positive and negative or neutral reference classes. In this paper, we analyze different machine learning approaches to define sentiment analysis on social networks. This paper describes comparative analysis of existing machine learning approaches to classify text and other reference classes to evaluate different metric representations. And also this paper describes different machine learning methodologies like Naïve Bayesian, Entropy max and support vector machine (SVM) research on social network data streams. And also discuss major innovations to evaluate different procedures and challenges of analysis of sentiment or opinion mining aspects in present social networks.

Abstract:
Mark Granovetter has written a deep and wide-ranging book on economy and society entitled Society and Economy: Frameworks and Principles. Economists, in particular, will find his discussion on the role of social networks in understanding the problem of aggregation—from micro foundations to large-scale institutional phenomena—especially relevant. And they will find much to ponder over the ways in which overlapping structures—of networks and institutions—shape human behavior and determine aggregate economic outcomes. The high-level and parsimonious style of this book is distinctive and sets it apart from much of contemporary social science. This style and the apparent unwillingness to engage closely with research developments over the past two decades may, however, mean that the book will have limited influence on ongoing and future research. Abstract:
Despite the introduction of audiobooks and e-books, printed stories still are in high demand. However, in a globalized world which is more and more ruled by mass media and technology, it is increasingly difficult for writers and publishers to promote their books. The solution is almost ironic: popular media, which is assumed to decrease readership, is turned into a tool to increase the number of readers. In 2002 the book trailer emerged as a new web-based marketing strategy for the launch of new books. Since then the appearance of the book trailer has changed considerably. The article examines specific examples and highlights methods that establish the relationship between the content of the book and its representation in the book trailer. Although guidelines apply for the production of book trailers, such as constraints relating to time and content, there are no limitations for the imagination of the producers. A book trailer may be simple, supported only by music and pictures, but they may also be as complex as short films. Additionally, book trailers are not limited to the promotion of one specific genre or age group. Depending on the viral potential of social networks such as YouTube, Facebook, and Tumblr book trailers reach a global audience and, therefore, open up new markets. It can be argued, while book trailers have not yet reached the realm of the everyday, they will gradually come to the attention of academics and this article wants to present a starting point for this development.

Abstract:
A mathematical model was developed for opinion propagation on online social networks using a scale-free network with an adjustable clustering coefficient. Connected nodes influence each other when the difference between their opinion values is less than a threshold value. The model is used to examine effectiveness of three different approaches for influencing public opinion. The approaches examined include (1) a "Class", defined as an approach (such as a class or book) that greatly influences a small, randomly selected portion of the population, (2) an "Advertisement", defined as an approach (such as a TV or online advertisement) that has a small influence at each viewing on a large randomly selected portion of the population, and (3) an "App", defined as an approach (such as a Facebook game or smartphone "App") that spreads via the online social network (rather than randomly) and has a small influence at each viewing on the affected population. The Class and Advertisement approaches result in similar overall influence on the population, despite the fact that these approaches are highly different. In contrast, the App approach has a much more significant effect on opinion values of users occupying clusters within the social network compared to the overall population.

Abstract:
This paper provides critical reflections on Manuel Castells’ (2012) book Networks of Outrage and Hope. Social Movements in the Internet Age that analyses the “nature and perspectives of networked social movements” (p. 4) and gives special focus to the role of “social media” in movements that emerged in 2011 in Tunisia, Iceland, Egypt, Spain and the United States. I situate Castells’ book in an intellectual discourse that focuses on the political implications of social media and that has involved Clay Shirky, Malcolm Gladwell and Evgeny Morozov. The article also discusses the role of social theory and empirical research in Castells’ book, presents as an alternative a theoretical model of the relationship between social movements and the media, discusses the implications that some empirical data that focus on social media in the Egyptian revolution and the Occupy Wall Street movement have for Castells’ approach, discusses how Castells positions himself towards capitalism and compares his explanation of the crisis and his political views to David Harvey’s approach. Abstract:
The current research aims to reveal how people feel about paper books and books in General (reading) today by looking at their reading practices. The considered social group that the study is aimed at is mainly young people who are not far from modern methods of communication and technology, as well as those who read books. Why choose this particular group? First, young people are most likely to accept changes, including technological ones, by stimulating them, in contrast to older people who accept them with fear. Secondly, this group uses social networks, which indicates that they are somewhat involved in technology, which means that the processes described probably affect them. Third, these people should read books, since in General the study concerns current reading practices and the attitude of readers to a paper book.

In all sorts of ways and for all sorts of reasons, people have always sought to share information among their family and other social networks. However, this sharing has never been equal: inevitably, some people are better-informed than others and some are more socially-connected than others. At first glance, the plethora of communication tools and technologies available nowadays should help democratise information and reduce disparity but differences in how, when and with whom information is shared create conversation gaps and maintain inequalities. Southwell explores and catalogues information-sharing behaviours, discusses the factors that affect how and why we share information and addresses the questions of why disparities in information-sharing matter and what we can do about the gaps between ‘information-haves’ and ‘information have-nots’.
