Abstract:
This research was conducted at Hotel Telaga Biru Pagaralam, aims to create a new system that can overcome the problems that occur in the Hotel, especially in terms of booking rooms. The current room booking system is still done manually, which is still recorded in the book when guests check in until check out, then it is given a receipt as proof of payment in advance to the guest according to the length of the guest staying. In addition to coming directly customers can book a room by contacting the hotel by phone. For this, researchers are doing the action of making a system engineering information-based hotel reservation with the system development strategy using the Web engineering method, the tools used in the design are Unified Modelling Language (UML), in the development of this application authors use the PHP and MySql programming language as the Database of room booking systems. This system generates a system that allows customers and hotel to make bookings.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this study is to provide new insights into the factors that influence cancellation behaviour with respect to hotel bookings. The data are based on individual bookings drawn from a hotel reservation system database comprising nine hotels. Design/methodology/approach The determinants of cancellation probability are estimated using a probit model with cluster adjusted standard errors at the hotel level. Separate estimates are provided for rooms booked offline, through online travel agencies and through traditional travel agencies. Findings Evidence based on 233,000 bookings shows that the overall cancellation rate is 8 per cent. Cancellation rates are highest for online bookings (17 per cent), followed by offline bookings (12 per cent) and travel agency bookings (4 per cent). Probit estimations show that the probability of cancelling a booking is significantly higher for early bookings, large groups that book offline, offline bookings during high seasons, bookings not involving children and bookings made by guests from specific countries (e.g. China and Russia). Among the factors, booking lead time and country of residence play the largest role, particularly for online bookings. Research limitations/implications The analysis is based on individual-level booking data from one hotel chain in Finland, and therefore cannot be generalised for the total population of hotels in the country under observation. Originality/value The main contribution of this paper is a thorough investigation of the factors that influence cancellation behaviour at both the theoretical and empirical levels. Detailed and unique data from a hotel reservation system allow for new empirical insights into this behaviour.

Abstract:
This paper presents a study of taxi booking service in Singapore using a microscopic traffic simulation model embedded with a link-to-link shortest path algorithm. A novel trip-chaining strategy for taxi booking based on a customized algorithm of Pickup and Delivery Problem with Time Window (PDPTW) was proposed. The idea is to chain several bookings with demand time points which are spread out within a reasonable period of time, and with each pick-up point coinciding with or being within close proximity to the previous drop-off location. Based on the simulation results, the proposed system has the potential to improve the taxi booking service currently operating in Singapore.

Abstract:
Passenger demand plays an important role in railway operation and organization, and this paper aims to estimate passenger time-varying demand by simulating the ticket-booking process for High Speed Rail (HSR) system. The ticket-booking process of each OD pair can be partition into discrete booking phases by the times when the tickets of any itinerary had sold out. The ticket booking volume of each itinerary is reversely assigned to its corresponding expected departure intervals to obtain the time-varying demand in each booking phase using the rooftop model, and the total time-varying demand are estimated by summing the time-varying demand distributions in all booking phases. Only with the data about the itinerary flow, the precedence relationship is introduced to constrain the ticket sold-out order of all itineraries for each OD pair. Based on the precedence relationships of itineraries, two typical situations are proposed, in which the Single Booking Phase Reverse Assignment (SBPRA) algorithm and the Multiple Booking Phases Reverse Assignment (MBPRA) algorithm are proposed to estimate the time-varying demand respectively. Case analysis on OD pair Beijing-Shanghai are presented, and the validity analysis demonstrates that the error rates of SBPRA algorithm and MBPRA algorithm are 8.64% and 6.37%, respectively.

Abstract:
Recommendation systems have recently gained a lot of popularity in various industries such as entertainment and tourism. They can act as filters of information by providing relevant suggestions to the users through processing heterogeneous data from different networks. Many travelers and tourists routinely rely on textual reviews, numerical ratings, and points of interest to select hotels in cities worldwide. To attract more customers, online hotel booking systems typically rank their hotels based on the recommendations from their customers. In this paper, we present a framework that can rank hotels by analyzing hotels’ customer reviews and nearby amenities. In addition, a framework is presented that combines the scores generated from user reviews and surrounding facilities. We perform experiments using datasets from online hotel booking platforms such as TripAdvisor and Booking to evaluate the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed framework. We first store the keywords extracted from reviews and assign weights to each considered unigram and bigram keywords and, then, we give a numerical score to each considered keyword. Finally, our proposed system aggregates the scores generated from the reviews and surrounding environments from different categories of the facilities. Experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed recommendation framework.

The development of information technology is increasingly developing, so that makes the human mindset of the desired information needs can be accessed easily, quickly, and accurately. This boat booking is a type of booking that is rarely known by many people and almost everyone only knows about booking hotels, along with the many tourist attractions such as the islands that require tourists to go using the boat to the tourist site, an application is needed to make it easy for tourists to book a ship, from the existing problems for booking and chartering the ship is still done manually by contacting the shipowner directly and for the payment process that is done is still using a manual system that is done after completing using the ship which is feared the charterer can cancel the charter . In this study, the authors used a methodology with data collection techniques namely observation, interviews and literature study while application development uses SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) with a waterfall approach and in this study, the authors used the Fisher-Yates Shuffle algorithm while for modeling using UML (Unified Modeling Language). With the Android-based ship booking application, it can facilitate the tourists in getting information in booking a boat that can be done online.

Abstract:
Elective caesarean sections (ELCS) vary widely in surgical complexity and are routinely performed between 39 and 40 weeks of pregnancy. Unselected ELCS lists may create clinical risk due to inappropriately complex case mixes and over-running theatre time, impacting on emergency care. Despite evidence that ELCS list over-run is a widespread concern for many units, there is a paucity of literature regarding effective ELCS booking systems. We designed a novel ELCS risk scoring system, ELECTIVIST, comprising a risk assessment by the booking clinician and allocation of a complexity score to each case from 1 to 6. The maximum risk score for any one patient was 6, with a maximum total score on any one ELCS list of 6 and a maximum of three cases per list. We performed a retrospective analysis of all ELCS performed in our unit in 2016 using existing booking information and theatre data to assess existing case mix complexity and theatre over-run. This showed that 36% of ELCS lists were overbooked with inappropriately complex case mix and 21% of lists over-ran with 6% impacting on emergency obstetric theatres. Assessment of the impact of ELECTIVIST on ELCS capacity prior to implementation showed that no additional capacity was required to accommodate existing complexity. At 6 months following implementation, theatre over-run was reduced to 10% and over-run impacting on emergency theatre to 1%. The requirement for extra ELCS lists to accommodate capacity reduced by 66%.ELECTIVIST is a novel system that improves ELCS booking using existing capacity and reduces theatre list over-run. It is transferable, cost neutral and could be widely applied in obstetric units.

Abstract:
Research aims: This study aims to analyze factors affecting consumer intention to book hotels from social media and online travel agencies. Specifically, we examine the direct effects of social media usage and electronic word of mouth (e-WoM) and the indirect effect through the mediation of trust in booking intention.Design/Methodology/Approach: Purposively sampled respondents resulted in 409 responses that met the predefined criteria: aged 18-34, active on their social media accounts, and had accessed online booking sites. Regression with mediating analysis was conducted on valid data.Research findings: Analysis results showed that social media usage and e-WoM had a direct, positive, and significant impact on booking intention. It has also proven to have an indirect effect on consumer booking intention mediated by trust. Social media usage and e-WoM directly affected booking intention and had higher valence when mediated by trust.Theoretical contribution/Originality: Information on social media positively influenced consumer purchase intention on online hotel booking due to its completeness. Further, this study is among the few that applied the e-WOM concept to the hospitality sector.Practitioner/Policy implication: The implication for managers is to improve the online booking management system by increasing promptness in response to reviews, especially the negatives.Research limitation/Implication: This study focused on consumers who have social media accounts and accessed online hotel booking sites, limiting its generalizability.

Abstract:
The Internet offers a rich atmosphere for prospective travelers to gain familiarity, and harvest and retrieve travel-related information and resources. An increasing number of tourism and hospitality firms have turned their attention to new business opportunities on the Web. Travel 2.0 has emerged as a new tool for competitive advantage. This study draws on social cognitive theory and the DeLone and McLean Information Systems (D&M IS) success model to diagnose the impact of websites design quality on booking/reservation intentions from a travelers’ perspective. This research model was tested with 700 valid data collected from travelers using Travel 2.0 websites through online survey using SPSS v18 for the analysis. The results of the data analysis provided support for the hypothesized relationships of e-service and system quality with booking/reservation/purchase behavioral intention implying that an e-travel site’s quality is an essential success factor for tourism enterprises. However, information quality of an e-travel site is negatively related to booking/reservation intention. Cross-sectional design and self-report measures are the shortcomings of the study. Little research has been done on the relation between websites design (e-service, information, and system) quality, and booking/reservation intention. This article presents new insights into how these variables may influence potential tourist.

Abstract:
INTRODUCTION Electronic booking of out-patient appointments is being rolled out in England under the ‘Choose and Book’ programme. We set up and ran a local electronic surgical referral service before this. This paper assesses the effect of the electronic surgical referral service on patient waiting times and attendance rates. PATIENTS AND METHODS The study included 54 patients referred electronically and 189 referred on paper to a single colorectal surgical service over the same period. RESULTS The appointment booking was achieved on the same day as the referral was made for the majority of electronic referrals whereas it took an average of 7 days for paper referrals. There was no significant difference in the time from referral to being seen in clinic between the two groups. Patients referred electronically were much more likely to attend for their appointment. CONCLUSIONS This study shows that an electronic surgical referral system can improve efficiency. This may be because this system allows enhanced patient choice of appointment date and time.
