For the past two decades the concept of ‘festival’ has evolved into new connotations on the sociocultural field. This thesis explores these new connotations of ‘festival’ as it develops into a phenomenon of mass culture and industry, i.e., festival business has increased exponentially, as a consequence of a mass consumption and festival related industries. There has been a social effervescence around the transformational festival meme which triggered new perspectives on the cultural sciences scope. This study examines those perspectives along with data analysis to expand social circumstances and cultural frameworks that configure the subjective dispositions and drive the demand for Boom Festival in Portugal. Boomland is Boom Festival’s territory and appears to be both a popular sanctuary and a pilgrimage site for fans of a global movement called psytrance tribe. This alternative movement with origins in the so-called counter-cultural tendencies of the 1960s promotes its hedonistic vibe, a spiritual tendency and a high interest in the trade and consumption of psychedelics. Psytrance, an epiphenomenon of EDMC, is not only the source of Boom Festival but it is the main feature which sets this festival apart from the rest of those on the international circuit. This investigation is about Boomland and the festival itself. It analyses the impact the Boom Festival experience can have on the lives of those who live it. The thesis emphasizes identity modulations associated with the sociological process, i.e., practices and cultural fruition between individuals and groups in contexts of otherness promoted during the event. Simultaneously, it addresses the properties at the festival that can be analyzed as heterotopic transgressive spaces in order to understand how the contexts of temporary suspension and liminality imply a transformative power in the return to everyday life. In addition, it is important to identify neotribalism / heterotopia / ritual process as the key elements to which this thesis is built upon. As a result, it is vital to situate the Boom Festival in the contemporary sociocultural paradigm while keeping track on the impact of digital technology on the anthropological range. The research involved an ethnographic approach, using digital ethnography and auto-ethnography, complemented by semi-directed interviews. The empirical work underlined the three (liminal) moments related to the 2018 edition of Boom Festival – before, during and after the festival –, based on a 20 people discussion/observation group, gathered on the digital platform Facebook, implying fieldwork both in digital and geographic territory.

Full textThe aim of this study is to understand the Impact of Descriminalization of psychoactive substance use in the practice of harm reduction and risk minimization in Portugal In the development of this investigation we used a qualitative research methodology based on questionnaires conducted to security agents as well as health agents which have had direct contact with either consumption and/or traffic of psychoactive substances. The research methodology relies on a qualitative process using the.Nvivo10®. A blunter conclusion of this work is that, on average, the security agents are unaware of the current legislation premises regarding psychoactive substances consumption. Also, it's to be said that they didn’t understand the impact that the decriminalization has had in Portugal. However this is only the first step to explore this theme, which will require, a deeper and more complex analysis in all its' planes. We believe that creating ways to promote knowledge of the law around the agents which are also implicated, will result in a significant change and bettering on the application and enforcement of said law, which, it's in the benefit and on the psychoactive substance user best interest, in Portugal.

In recent years, the government is placing more emphasis on children’s education, not only in the pursuit of innovation and reformation of our education system, but also in every related aspect such as food, clothing, accommodations, transportation, education, and recreation, in the hopes of creating the best academic environment for them. With the development of computer technology and the rapid changes of information, children can experience diverse life and information during their childhood. Therefore, many ordinary publications cannot meet their reading demand. However, pop-up books veer away from the framework of ordinary picture books to make the children experience the excitement in vision and in touch through the rich structural changes of the inner pages and through the interactive mechanisms, while reading them. Because pop-up books possess the characteristics of both picture books and toys, they enhance the children’s joy of reading and at the same time enrich the children’s imagination and spatial perception. Based on the analysis of literatures and the use of questionnaires, this research explores the pop-up book’s history, types, subjects, functions, and value as well as relevant design applications. Meanwhile, it discusses the pop-up book’s value, types, characteristics, and background stories of festivals in accordance with Taiwan’s festivals. What’s more, this study collects relevant books and information related to domestic and overseas festivals and takes the results of the analyses of the interviewees’ questionnaires as the reference for future creation and research. The design employs Taiwan’s traditional festival stories as the subject and recreates children’s pop-up books replete with Taiwanese culture by integrating the pop-up books’ different expression types. It takes the three background stories of Taiwan’s festivals as the creative content: the story of the monster Nian, the patriotic poet Qu Yuan, and the rabbit living in the moon to form three series; each of which are integrated with different pop-up book structures of layered scenes, jump intos, and exhibit scenes. By combining traditional festival stories and children pop-up books, Taiwan festival stories can be presented with an innovative appearance making children more receptive to learning the traditional culture of Taiwan.

According to this research, the chapter four is the primary part of creation. There are 42 pieces of picture, including the cover sheet, endpaper, pages, title page, copyright page and so on. Hopefully, this creation can present a beautiful appearance of the traditional Taiwanese festivities then pass on and carry on the humanism of traditional culture. To make people toward a better understanding of this island and local culture, continue the traditional culture’s endless vitality. Finally, I expect this picture book can be both of achieving cultural preservation and educational.
