Recent programs on conformal bootstrap suggest an empirical relationship between the existence of nontrivial conformal field theories and nontrivial features such as a kink in the unitarity bound of conformal dimensions in the conformal bootstrap equations. We report the existence of nontrivial kink-like behaviors in the unitarity bound of scalar operators in the adjoint representation of the [Formula: see text] symmetric conformal field theories. They have interesting properties: (1) the kink-like behaviors exist in [Formula: see text] dimensions; (2) the location of kink-like behaviors are w

Using modular bootstrap we show the lightest primary fields of a unitary compact two-dimensional conformal field theory (with [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text]) has a conformal weight [Formula: see text]. This implies that the upper bound on the dimension of the lightest primary fields depends on their spin. In particular if the set of lightest primary fields includes extremal or near extremal states whose spin to dimension ratio [Formula: see text], the corresponding dimension is [Formula: see text]. Bootstrap equations for conformal correlators that mimic the early theory of conformal bootstrap are written down in frames of the AdS/CFT approach. The simplified version of these equations, that may be justified if Schwinger–Keldysh formalism is used in AdS/CFT instead of conventional Feynman–Witten diagrams technique, permits to calculate values of conformal dimensions in the [Formula: see text] symmetric model with conformal or composite Habbard–Stratonovich field.

Abstract:
The study of conformal symmetry is motivated through an example in statistical mechanics and then rigorously developed in quantum field theories in general spatial dimensions. In particular, primary fields are introduced as the fundamental objects of such theories and then studied in the formalism of radial quantization. The implications of conformal invariance on the functional form of correlation functions are studied in detail. Conformal blocks are defined and various approaches to their analytical and numerical calculation are presented with a special emphasis on the one-dimensional case.

The superconformal bootstrap is made possible through a surprising relation between the BPS N=4 superconformal blocks with c=6 and bosonic Virasoro conformal blocks with c=28, and an exact moduli dependence of a certain integrated BPS four-point function. <p> In this thesis, we explore analytical methods to study conformal field theories (CFTs) in a general number of spacetime dimensions. We first use the lightcone bootstrap to systematically study correlation functions of scalar operators charged under global symmetries. We then generalize existing techniques in the lightcone bootstrap to study four-point functions containing operators with spin. As an application, we observe a close connection between anomalous dimensions of large spin, double-twist operators and the conformal collider bounds. Through further refinement of these techniques an

Abstract:
This is a review of two-dimensional conformal field theory including the Virasoro algebra, the bootstrap, and some of the relations to integrable models. An effort is made to develop the basic formalism in a way which is both elementary but also as flexible as possible at the same time. Some advanced topics such as conformal field theory on higher genus surfaces and relations to the isomonodromic deformation problem are discussed; for other topics we offer a first guide to the literature.

Abstract:
In Chapter 15, the scaling behaviour of correlation functions at criticality, T = Tc, has been derived. This chapter is devoted to the critical domain, where the correlation length is large with respect to the microscopic scale, but finite. In dimensions d &lt; 4, above Tc, the property of strong scaling is derived: in the critical domain above Tc, all correlation functions, after rescaling, can be expressed in terms of universal correlation functions, in which the scale of distance is provided by the correlation length. However, because the correlation length is singular at Tc, in this formalism, the critical temperature cannot be crossed. Alternatively, one can expand correlation functions in formal power series of the deviation (T −Tc) from the critical temperature, in presence of a magnetic field. The sum of the expansion satisfies renormalization group (RG) equations also valid for T &lt; Tc and in a magnetic field, from which follow scaling properties in the whole critical domain. The universal two-point function can be expanded when T approaches Tc, using the short-distance expansion (SDE). A few terms of the ϵ expansion (ϵ is the deviation from dimension 4) of a few universal quantities are reported. Calculations at fixed dimension and summation of perturbative expansions are described. The conformal bootstrap based on the SDE and conformal invariance at the infrared (IR) fixed point provides an alternative method to determine critical exponents.
