Abstract:
This study examines the impact of terrorism on agribusiness in Borno state. Terrorist activities in Borno state dates back to 2009 where a group of Islamic extremists popularly known as Boko Haram (meaning western education is a sin) became violent in their activities. The group operates significantly in north-eastern Nigeria where Borno state is located and since 2009. The presence of the group has led to collapse of socio-economic activities in Borno state among other states. Millions of people have been displaced fromtheir homes and forced to live in camps in neighbouring states. As a result, this study examines the impact of insurgency related activities on agribusiness in BornoState. Agricbusiness in Borno state can be measured using four different parameters, amount of area cultivated, annual crop production, rearing of livestock and fish farming. These are the major agricultural business residents of Borno state are engaged in. However due to unavailability of data, rearing of livestock and fish farming are dropped, thus focusing on area cultivated and annual crop production. As a result of these two variables, two models are developed. The first model measures the relationship between amounts of crop produced with insurgency related killings, while the second model measuresthe relationship between total areasof farmland cultivated with fatalities resulting from terrorist activity. This study employs Ordinary Least Squares methodology and finds that both relationshipsreveal negative results thus indicating statistically significant negative impact of terrorism on agribusiness in Borno State.

Effective dialogue requires that all the participants have equal standing, that they listen with respect and empathy, and that ideas and assumptions are explored openly and without prejudice. Effective dialogue typically follows some basic ground rules: The focus is on common interests, not divisive ones. Maiduguri, also called Yerwa or Yerwa-Maiduguri, capital and largest city of Borno State, northeastern Nigeria. It is located along the seasonal Ngadda (Alo) River, the waters of which disappear in the firki (“black cotton”) swamps of Lake Chad, northeast of the city. Modern Maiduguri actually comprises the twin towns of Yerwa and Maiduguri. In 1907, Yerwa was founded on the site of the hamlet of Kalwa and was named by Shehu (“Sheikh” or “Sultan”) Bukar Garbai as the new traditional capital of the Kanuri people (replacing Kukawa, 80 miles [130 km] north-northeast of the former capital of the Bornu kingdom [see Kanem-Bornu]). Meanwhile, the market village of Maiduguri, just to the south, was selected by the British to replace nearby Mofoni (Maifoni, Mafoni) as their military headquarters and in 1908, they built a residency in what then became the capital of British Bornu. The combined city locally called Yerwa was divided into the urban district of Yerwa and the rural district of Maiduguri in 1957, but outside Borno both political units are now known simply as Maiduguri.

Abstract:
Abstract The practice of gift-giving was omnipresent in trans-Saharan embassies. Gifts were the material expression of the political dialogue between rulers. Their quality and quantity was a good barometer of relations between rulers. A close analysis of the gifts sent or received by the Borno rulers (present-day Nigeria) between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries reveals a system of norms and customs on the part of the Borno chancellery. Their material value also raises the question of their economic dimension and how they were recycled. By focusing on the embassies between Tripoli and Borno in the early modern period, the aim of this article is to demonstrate that the gifts were a part of a normalized practice of diplomacy. Beyond the message carried by the gifts themselves, the Borno sultans mixed economic and political interests by integrating the exchanges of gifts into the wider trans-Saharan trade.

<strong>Abstract:</strong> The study set out to anatomize the menace of gender inequality and its ripple effect on human development in Borno State. The survey research method was adopted using key informant interview as instrument to elicit information from the respondents. Findings from the analysis of the data gathered have proven that human development is undermined by gender inequality in the aspect of educational development, healthcare service delivery and skill acquisition opportunities in Borno State. Such factors among others that often contribute to gender inequalities include the norms and value systems of the people, unhealthy cultural practices, ignorance, illiteracy and religion. Findings further unveils that human development is not given much priority in Borno State, judging from the fact that the female folk in Borno State are still been marginalized, suppressed and their male counterparts still exercise high position of dominance and control over the females, which has a ripple effect on the pace of human development in the Borno State. The study therefore recommends advocating for the domestication of the National Gender Policy 2006, identity possible causes of the continuous resistance from accepting gender equality similarly, gender mainstreaming should be adopted in all policy makers programming. Finally, Government should pay more attention to educational policies that enhance more female enrolment, participation in educational institutions and literacy to enhance women contribution to the growth and transformation in Nigeria. <strong>Keywords:</strong> Gender inequality, Human Development, Borno state. <strong>Title:</strong> GENDER INEQUALITY AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT IN BORNO STATE <strong>Author:</strong> Adamu Hamma Daura, Ezekiel Ali Balami, Dunas Ezekiel Dunama <strong>International Journal of Recent Research in Social Sciences and Humanities (IJRRSSH)</strong> <strong>ISSN 2349-7831</strong> <strong>Vol. 10, Issue 3, July 2023 - September 2023</strong> <strong>Page No: 164-175</strong> <strong>Paper Publications</strong> <strong>Website: www.paperpublications.org</strong> <strong>Published Date: 28-August-2023</strong> <strong>DOI: </strong><strong>https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.8289098</strong> <strong>Paper Download Link (Source)</strong> <strong>https://www.paperpublications.org/upload/book/GENDER%20INEQUALITY-28082023-1.pdf</strong>

Including the history of the Shariah courts in the states of Yobe and Borno, in terms of their types and degrees; the establishment of their settlement and the development that took place in the shadow of democracy; these courts are all in northern Nigeria. The establishment of Islamic courts in northern Nigeria dates back to the pre-Advent of the English, where the Borno Empire exists; in present-day Borno. This indicates that the state of Borno had an ancient civilization before the advent of the English much, and therefore the courts derive their provisions from the Islamic law and local customs in all fields of public life, including the family system, transactions, like the Islamic courts in various Islamic countries, Applied to the parents throughout the country, and this is due to historical factors, and with the development of the courts are diligent and take from the other doctrines of a sentimental clinic

Abstract:
Gerhard Rohlfs was born in Vegesack near Bremen in 1831. He was a frequent traveler in Africa, and in 1865-67 he became the first European to travel from north Africa across the Sahara to the west African coast, from Tripoli to Borno, then through Bauchi and Keffi to Loko, thence down the Benue to its confluence with the Niger at Lokoja, which he reached on 28 March 1867. From there, he proceeded upstream along the Niger to Raba, delivering presents to Masaba of Nupe. From Raba, he traveled overland through Yorubaland to Lagos. In 1868 he published an account of the first half of this journey, from north Africa to Borno, in Petermann's Mitteilungen. In 1872 his account of the second half, “Gerhard Rohlfs' Reise durch Nord-Afrika vom Mittelländischen Meere bis zum Busen von Guinea, 1865 bis 1867, 2. Hälfte: von Kuka nach Lagos (Bornu, Bautschi, Saria, Nupe, Yoruba),” also appeared in Petermann's. A later publication, Quer durch Afrika, which appeared in 1874-75, covered the entire journey.Rohlfs' accounts of his travels in west Africa south of the Sahara have up to now been greatly neglected. The works mentioned above have never been published in English translation, which no doubt goes some way to explain this neglect. Rohlfs' information on his stay in Kuka (the capital of Borno) and his visits to Bauchi and Nupe have been cited by some scholars, at least. Very few, however, appear to have consulted his description of the last leg of his 1866-67 journey, in which he proceeded from the Niger south through Yorubaland to Lagos, visiting Share, Ilorin, Iwo, Ibadan, and parts of Ijebuland on the way.

Abstract The Borno sultanate in present-day Nigeria was an early modern Islamic state at the crossroads of regional, transregional, and global networks. Sahelian pilgrims, North African scholars, European slaves, Saharan nomads, and Turkish mercenaries would travel to its capital, connecting it with West Africa, the Mediterranean World, and the Middle East. How do we assess Borno’s integration in the global early modern world from a plural perspective, both from the inside and the outside? Using the narratives of Aḥmad b. Furṭū, a sixteenth century Borno scholar living in the sultan’s court, and of Pierre Girard, a French slave in seventeenth century Tripoli, Libya, I will interrogate the idea of globality from a Borno-centered representation of the world. The mental mapping of these narratives raises a yet unanswered question in the field of early modern history: How can we conceive global history from an African point of view?

Low soil fertility, especially N and P, are major constraints to increased food crop production and productivity in the sub-Saharan African (SSA). Field studies was undertaken to evaluate the response of millet cultivars (<em>Pennisetum</em> Spp) to different levels of nitrogen. The treatments consisted of factorial combinations of three cultivars (SOSAT-C88, LC-1C9702 and Ex-Borno) and four rates of nitrogen (0, 30, 60, 90 kg Nha-1). Nitrogen levels as well as their interactions affected millet cultivars growth and yield. The cultivar LC-1C9702 out-performed SOSAT-C88 and Ex-Borno with respect to grain yield and harvested panicle per hectare at higher N level than the others. Ex-Borno could be sustained at the rate of 30 kg N/ha. Interaction between cultivars and fertilizer on stand count, plant height, panicle length, grain yield and harvested panicle were significant (P&lt; 0.05).

The incessant violent attacks had caused serious disruption and decline in economic activities, investment and education. This would have substantial implication for the socioeconomic development of the North-East generally, and Borno state particularly. Borno state is the epicenter of Boko Haram terrorism in Nigeria’s least developed geo-political zone. Terrorist activities over the years have further worsened the people’s already difficult socioeconomic conditions. Thus, the study adopted qualitative methodology to examine the effect of terrorism on Borno state’s socio-economic development. Hinged on state fragility theory, the study argued that whereas several efforts have been made to combat terrorism, Nigeria’s fragile and weak system greatly hampered these efforts. Considering the essentiality of education for long-term development, incessant abductions of pupils and disruptions of educational activities have further jeopardized the state's chances of development. The study found that terrorism has dealt a terrible blow on business activities, mobility, investment and educational opportunities in Borno state. In order to engender sustainable development, it is imperative that the Nigerian government, domestic stakeholders and international development partners intensify collaboration to address the menace of terrorism in Nigeria. Abstract:
This research study was carried out on the Attitudes of parents with regard to routine Immunization programme in Borno State. Research objectives were set up to guide the study on research topic to gather information require by this study. In this research awareness is noticing or realising something exist or having knowing something. (Encarta Dictionary, 2009) it appears that many parents are never told or aware or learn the name of vaccination they may asked to accept for their children, most of the emphasis in communication about immunization is on the ‘when and where’ with very little on the ‘what is it’ (Nichter, 1988). As a result, must parents have a poor understanding of immunization many do not know which diseases are prevented by which vaccine or how many doses of each are needed? In Indonesia, for example a study in Yogyakarta, province found parents believing incorrectly that, only one dose is sufficient against polio or for DPT (Singarimu, 1986).In view of this finding a research recommended that A better understanding of immunization schedule and health educating people on the importance of routine immunization, and the NPI should conduct periodic health system research to identify hindrance to effective delivery of routine immunization exercise, lastly the use of advocacy visit to community and religious leaders to create awareness about immunization and its benefits so that they will be informed and mobilised the people around them.

Abstract:
Background: Endourology which includes lower urinary tract (LUT) endoscopy, is an important component of standard urological practice worldwide. The objective of our study was to audit the LUT endoscopic procedures performed in Borno, a state in north-eastern Nigeria and share our experience. Methods: We, retrospectively reviewed the Lower urinary Tract endoscopies performed in Borno state over 9 years, from January 2012 to December 2020. Data related to LUT endoscopies were extracted from the patients’ clinical notes and operation theatre registers of the 2 focused hospitals in Borno where endourology procedures were performed (University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and Royal specialist hospital maiduguri) and then analyzed. Urology patients who did not undergone LUT endoscopy were excluded. Results: We analyzed the data of total sum of 201 patients for the 2 hospitals, which represented the sample size for the study. Mean age of patients was 47.2years, with male to female ratio of 3.5:1. Bladder tumor with or without haematuria (31.3%) was the commonest indication for LUT endoscopy, seconded by removal of ureteric double J stents (23.4%). Urethrocystoscopy (74.0%) was the commonest procedure performed predominantly under local anaesthesia, for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Conclusions: We reported LUT endoscopies in Borno which was commonly indicated in bladder tumors presenting with or without haematuria. Urethrocystoscopy is the commonest procedure. As we get more endourology equipment in the public hospital many of our patients will benefit from these minimally invasive procedures in both lower and upper urinary tract diseases.

Abstract:
The situation in Borno State, Nigeria has been exacerbated by the ongoing insurgency led by Boko Haram in northeast Nigeria, leading to widespread displacement and the establishment of Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps. This study aims to identify the locations of IDP camps in Borno State and analyze their spatial distribution, density, and clustering patterns. Furthermore, it seeks to investigate the geospatial implications of these patterns. To achieve this, the study employs geospatial analysis techniques such as Kernel Density Estimation, Cluster and Outlier Analysis, Nearest Neighbour Analysis, and Spatial Autocorrelation Analysis. The data collected for this study includes location coordinates, satellite imagery, demographic information, and administrative maps. The findings reveal that the distribution of IDP camps in Borno State is non-random and demonstrates varying camp densities across senatorial districts, with predominant high-high clusters and a deliberate, non-random arrangement. These results align with spatial analysis theories, emphasizing the importance of recognizing hidden inequalities in IDP camps and informing targeted interventions and resource planning for a more effective and equitable humanitarian response in Borno State. The implications extend to policy planning and enhanced vulnerability assessment for effective humanitarian responses, stressing the need for tailored interventions based on identified hotspots that address root causes and implement both immediate and long-term solutions. Future research directions could involve more in-depth investigations into the influencing factors, socio-economic impacts, and temporal dynamics of spatial patterns in displacement.

Abstract:
The war waged by the Nigerian military against Boko Haram insurgency in Borno State and the North-East at large had suffered setbacks as the complexity of the contemporary security challenges overwhelms the public security sector and therefore government has subscribed to the need to extend the security sector to include ‘private security providers’ and the citizens as stakeholders. This study assessed volunteer security outfit and the fight against terrorism in Nigeria with focus on Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Borno State. The study employed a qualitative method and the Partnership Theory of Crime Prevention and Resistance Theory was adopted as the theoretical framework for the study. KIIs were conducted with ten (10) stakeholders from different professions. Data elicited through KII was analyzed thematically. The study findings revealed that volunteer security outfit is an approach in combating terrorism in Nigeria. The findings further revealed that Civilian JTF activities have helped other government security agencies in coordinating and arresting key Boko Haram members in Borno State thereby becoming a fundamental component to assisting and winning the war against Boko Haram insurgency. The study therefore recommends that educating and sensitizing members of the community and CJTF to be alert to their patriotic duty of reporting crime and illegal entry of other nationals should be advocated and intensified by the Borno State government. The study further recommends that with the current insecurity confronting Nigeria, establishment of local vigilante group of youth in communities across Nigeria should be encouraged to assist and support the security agencies. Since terrorism is a global problem, countries should adopt volunteer security outfit model to end organised crime and terrorism. This should be executed with the highest sense of local ownership and in collaboration with key stakeholders in their domain. Above all, for lasting peace, security and stability to prevail in Borno State, committed and sincere leadership should be demonstrated at all levels of governance in the State.

Abstract:
Road Traffic Accident is said to be the fourth leading causes of death across the world. The number of lives being lost to Road Traffic Accident on yearly bases is incredible and often detrimental to the development of a country. Road Traffic Accident in Borno state has alarmingly increased, which has necessitated the need to investigate the phenomenon in the state. Driving Behaviour has been identified as the leading factor and causes of traffic accident in among drivers, while work stress is another factor. Using cross sectional studies, the study found that Number of accidents (r= .03, M=19.3 p&lt;.05) and age (r= .03, M=8.3 p&lt;.05) have no significant relationship with road traffic accident in Borno State. Work Stress (r= .24, M= 8.3, p&lt;.05) and driving behaviour (r= .49, M=8.5, p&lt;.05) significantly predicted road traffic accident among drivers in Borno State. It is recommended that drivers should be evaluated for psychological health problems from time to time to be sure they are psychologically fit to drive and effective driving stress management skills devised.

Abstract:
<strong>Abstract:</strong><em> </em>This study, &lsquo;Modification of Attitude of Youth Involved in Substance Abuse: A Tool for Minimizing Insurgency in Borno State.&rsquo; was conducted using quasi experimental pre-test post-test group design. The broad objective of the study is to find out if modifying the attitude of youths towards substance abuse will minimize insurgency. One specific objective is to determine the efficacy of modification of attitude technique on subjects in experimental groups before and after treatment. One research question is: what is the efficacy of modification of attitude technique on subjects in experimental groups before and after treatment. The populations of the study were youths between ages 18-24 years who were involved in substance abuse in Borno state. The sample subjects were purposively selected; thus 12 youths from each of the three locations under study were drawn by the use of substance abuse checklist (SAC). The locations were purposively selected and assigned to experimental groups. A ten-item questionnaire, that is, substance abuse questionnaire (SAQ) adopted from a guideline provided by the Centre for Substance Abuse Treatment on a two-point Likert scale was used for both pre- test and posttest exercises. The research questions were tested with appropriate inferential statistics. The result revealed that pre-test scores of subjects in experimental group one exposed to treatment by Modification of Attitude Technique is 78.8456 and the post test score is 54.7083, the mean difference between the pre-test and post test scores of subjects in experimental group one is 24.1373. A reduction in mean score implies that there is improvement in the behavior; attitudes toward substance use changed from positive to negative.&nbsp; This shows that Modification of Attitude technique was effective in managing substance abuse among youths in Borno state. The findings revealed that Modification of Attitude technique was effective in managing substance abuse thereby minimizing the desire to be involved in insurgency. It was recommended that the use of Modification of Attitude should be taught to school managers, counselors and social workers among others and be encouraged in managing substance abuse among youths in Borno state. <strong>Keywords:</strong> Minimizing Insurgency, attitude technique, social workers. <strong>Title:</strong> MODIFICATION OF ATTITUDE OF YOUTHS INVOLVED IN SUBSTANCE ABUSE: A TOOL FOR MINIMIZING INSURGENCY IN BORNO STATE, NIGERIA <strong>Author:</strong> DR MERCY BATHLI WAKAWA <strong>International Journal of Social Science and Humanities Research&nbsp; </strong> <strong>ISSN 2348-3156 (Print), ISSN 2348-3164 (online)</strong> <strong>Vol. 13, Issue 1, January 2025 - March 2025</strong> <strong>Page No: 66-73</strong> <strong>Research Publish Journals</strong> <strong>Website: www.researchpublish.com</strong> <strong>Published Date: 15-</strong><strong>January-2025</strong> <strong>DOI: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14649980</strong> <strong>Paper Download Link (Source)</strong> <strong>https://www.researchpublish.com/papers/modification-of-attitude-of-youths-involved-in-substance-abuse-a-tool-for-minimizing-insurgency-in-borno-state-nigeria</strong>

Forecasting is the Act of anticipating in advancement is likely to happen under a given sat to condition is very important not only to every business organisation but to virtually every significant management decision. The framework of this paper is focus on the nature of the forecasting and the role of the forecasting techniques, which include the qualitative and quantitative, the criteria for choosing forecasting technique and the failure of the business forecasting techniques. However, perfect forecasting is usually impossible because there are so many factor in the business environment that can not be fully predicted with certainty, therefore rather than search for the perfect forecasting, which is more important is to establish the practical of continual model or methodology but we should try to chose the best forecasting method in making decisions in an organisation.

Abstract:
<strong>Purpose of the Study</strong>: This paper examines the influence of social norms on the experiences of Sexual Gender Based Violence and information behaviour of internally displaced women and girls in Borno State, Nigeria. This study aims to identify the various needs of female IDPs who have had experiences with SGBV.<strong>Methodology</strong>: The study sample was drawn from three local governments: Gwoza, Kondunga, and Monguno in Borno State. A quantitative research approach was adopted in the study. Semi-structured questionnaires were used to collect data from the respondents. Descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation were used in data analysis, while the hypothesis was tested at a 0.05 level of significance.<strong>Findings</strong>: The study revealed that information needs, such as how to access food, shelter, and a source of livelihood, have no significant influence on female internally displaced persons' experience of SGBV. Thus, the presence of these needs does not necessarily increase the expertise of SGBV. However, social norms significantly influence the experience of SGBV among female internally displaced persons.<strong>Recommendations/Conclusion</strong>: An increase in socio-cultural beliefs and societal norms such as namecalling, patriarchy, and stigmatisation leads to the rise in the experience of Sexual Gender-Based Violence of female internally displaced persons in Borno State.<strong>Study Type</strong>: Empirical study

Abstract:
Heavy metal pollution is a global issue of concern which results from both biogenic and anthropogenic activities. Hence, an investigation of soil pollution is pertinent because of its potential threat to human health. The present study examined the concentrations, contamination and pollution load index cum ecological risk factor for some heavy metals in soil samples collected from Borno Express (BOEXP), Tashan Kano (TASKP) and Tashan Bama (TASBP) motor parks within Maiduguri, Borno state of Nigeria. The data obtained showed mean concentration range of 0.34 - 1.18 mg/kg, 0.04 - 0.15 mg/kg, 0.07 - 0.41 and 0.18 - 0.29 mg/kg for Zn, Cr, Cd and Cu respectively. Nonetheless, lead was not detected in any and all samples analyzed. The increasing order of concentrations in the soils followed: Zn &gt; Cu &gt; Cr &gt; Cd, Cu &gt; Cd &gt; Zn &gt; Cr and Cd &gt; Zn &gt; Cu &gt; Cr for BOEXP, TASKP and TASBP motor parks respectively. Notwithstanding, the results showed lower concentrations to the allowable limits of World Health Organization (WHO). Furthermore, the contamination factor of cadmium in the TASKP fell within the (0.10 – 0.25) category, indicative of slight contamination whereas in TASBP, the calculated value 0.5125 was within (0.51 -0.75) category implying severe contamination. The other heavy metals analyzed showed contamination factor as well as pollution index values &lt; 0.1 indicative of very slight contamination. Keywords: Borno Express, Tashan Kano, Tashan Bama, Motor Parks, Contamination Index.

Abstract:
This research examines the impact of manpower training and development practices on organizational efficiency, focusing on selected establishments under the Borno State Ministry of Health and Human Services. Training and development are pivotal in equipping employees with the skills and knowledge necessary to meet organizational goals, especially in resource-constrained and conflict-affected regions like Borno State. The study adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data to explore the nature, effectiveness, and challenges of training programs implemented in the healthcare sector. Key objectives include assessing the types of training programs available, evaluating their impact on employee performance and organizational efficiency, and identifying barriers to effective training implementation. Data collection involves surveys, interviews, and document analysis from three key establishments: the Hospital Management Board, the State Primary Healthcare Development Board, and the Borno State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency. Preliminary findings reveal that while training initiatives enhance technical and administrative competencies, challenges such as limited funding, inadequate infrastructure, and high staff turnover hinder their effectiveness. The study underscores the importance of aligning training programs with organizational objectives and the unique healthcare challenges of the region. Recommendations emphasize increased investment in workforce development, adoption of innovative training methods such as e-learning, and strengthening policy frameworks to sustain manpower development efforts. This research contributes to the discourse on human resource development in Nigeria's public healthcare sector, offering actionable insights for policymakers, administrators, and stakeholders aiming to optimize workforce efficiency and service delivery in challenging environments.

Abstract:
Two elephant populations are known to exist in Borno State. One occupies the Bama area in southern agricultural region and migrates between Cameroon and Nigeria elephant range, while the other occupys the Lake Chad Basin and constitutes the migratory populations moving between Chad and Nigeria and Nigeria and the northern tip of Cameroon. In the early 1970s estimated elephant population was 8,060, at present it is estimated to be under 200. The decline is attributed to habitat fragmentation, poaching, and uncontrolled problem elephant control, coupled with a lack of political will and funds to manage the remnant populations. Demand for agricultural land has been largely responsible for habitat fragmentation, and resulting land use conflict has been exacerbated by drought and political instability. Since 1988 when 36 elephant carcasses, with all tusks removed, were found along the Lake Chad shoreline few animals have been seen in this area and the migration from Waza NP in Cameroon to Lake Chad has been intermittent. Human-elephant conflict is increasing, elephant are shot indiscriminately due to lack of both adequate funding for animal control and enforcement of conservation. Abstract:
The regulation of broadcast religious programming is a critical challenge the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) is facing in Nigeria. In Maiduguri, the capital of the north-eastern Nigerian state of Borno where religion forms a core part of the people’s culture, a great deal of Borno Radio Television (BRTV) and Nigerian Television Authority Maiduguri’s (NTA Maiduguri) airtime is allocated to Islamic preaching during the Muslim’s annual Ramadan fasting. However, there is a dearth of research on whether the airtime those broadcast stations allocate to Islamic programming complies with the NBC code on religious programming. This research gap formed the main research question of this study which was conducted during the second quarter of 2019. Primary data were collected using key informant interviews with five personnel from the two broadcast stations and the Maiduguri office of NBC, while secondary data were obtained through the review of official documents. Key findings showed that the airtime allocatedto religious programmes exceeded the 10% NBC limit, BRTV allocated more airtime to religious programmes than NTA Maiduguri and Islamic programmes were allocated more airtime than programmes of other religions. Recommendations on how to improve compliance to NBC’s regulations were offered at the end.
