The effects of stress conditions on neutral lipid accumulation by the microalgae Botryococcus braunii, Tetraselmis suecica and Coccomyxa were investigated to assess their suitability for biodiesel production. The growth media (3N-BBM+V for B. braunii, and Coccomyxa and F/2 for T. suecica) were altered to impose salt stress (0.1 and 0.2 M NaCl for BBM medium) and up to 1.2 M NaCl for F/2 medium.
