Abstract:

Abstract:
AbstractThis study investigates the career of Carlo Antonio Procaccini, a member of one of the most prominent artistic families of the early Italian Seicento. Together with his brothers Camillo and Giulio Cesare, he was instrumental in establishing a famous workshop in Milan which played a fundamental role in the artistic renovation of the Borromean era. Celebrated by seventeenthcentury sources, Carlo Antonio’s career has been largely underestimated. The essay reaffirms his legacy as the most important North Italian landscape painter of the first three decades of the seventeenth century, highlighting how his art thrived in the uniqueness of the Milanese artistic environment, which was characterized by post-Tridentine reform and prosperity, Spanish patrons, and Northern European connections as well as artistic eclecticism.

Abstract:
Upon the background of the study of Byzantine sculpture of the Justinian age (6th century), the present survey focuses on a group of sculptures, partly unpublished, which came to light in recent archaeological campaigns carried out on the basilica complex dedicated to Apostle Philip in Hierapolis Such materials reveal stylistic features similar to those of some fragments coming from the neighboring areas and from the city of Sardis. An exceptional element of comparison is represented here by the large crosses carved on the columns of the Basilica of San Giovanni in Ephesus. This homogeneous group of marble artifacts and their iconographic and executive characteristics are an indicator of the stylistic originality of a workshop mainly active in Hierapolis, but also testify to the mobility of masons and materials in some of the main Christian places of worship of the 6th century.

Abstract:
The paper investigates the pictorial decoration of Castello Visconti di San Vito in Somma Lombardo, one of the finest examples of Lombard aristocratic villa of the first half of the seventeenth century. Built on a pre-existent medieval structure, the castle was richly decorated by a secular iconographic program that, drawn from Flemish sources, was executed in the period 1604–1609 by an équipe of painters gravitating towards the bottega Procaccini: the most important Milanese workshop of the time. The study, for the first time, retraces the genesis of this commission as well as the execution of the decorative program. Specifically, it individuates the complex series of iconographic sources used by Carlo Antonio Procaccini and his assistants, highlighting a coexistence of both Emilian and Flemish artistic references that is unprecedented in Lombard early Baroque art.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The main purpose of the paper is to focus on the structure, the materials and the history of Dante’s memorial at San Francesco in Ravenna (1483). The marble and stone structure was produced by Pietro Lombardo and his workshop under commission from Bernardo Bembo, the Venetian politician and humanist who was podestà of Ravenna between 1482 and 1483. The memorial was probably dismantled in the 18th century when it was replaced in the new chapel designed by Camillo Morigia, yet it was rebuilt exactly as it was before, as we can conclude from the original project drawings (Paris, Bibliothéque Nationale) and from etchings of various later (18th century) reproductions. The Dante memorial focuses of course on the memory of the poet, but it is also part of a more extensive programme for the restoration of other monuments in Ravenna produced by Lombardo’s bottega, as well as of urban spaces that visually affirm the Venetian domination of the city at the time and under the Patrician government.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Although the early life of Leonardo da Vinci in Florence seems singularly unproductive, particularly considering the acknowledged breadth of his genius, an inferential examination of his early work reveals an interesting scope of likely activities. A self-referential element is his only signed and dated work, a landscape drawing, which is identified as a likely commemoration of the date of his conception in Vinci, a unique concept in art historical analysis. To develop a fuller picture of his accomplishments in this early period requires an interconnected series of analyses and reappraisals, including an interpretation of the otherwise puzzling set of young men in red caps painted by Botticelli as the incipiently famous group of artists that trained in Verrocchio’s bottega. These analyses fill out the picture of Leonardo’s formative years in the hillsides and towns around Vinci, as not only a precocious artist based on exposure to works by famous artists before leaving Vinci, but as a handsome studio model, an extempore musician, a leading member of the redcap band of remarkable apprentices in Medici Florence, an engineering assistant to his master Verrocchio, and a collaborative associate of the pioneering group of Florentine perspectivists including Uccello and Toscanelli in their later years.

Abstract:
Growth arrest-specific (Gas2) protein has been shown to be a component of the microfilament system, that is highly expressed in growth arrested mouse and human fibroblasts and is hyperphosphorylated upon serum stimulation of quiescent cells. (Brancolini, C., S. Bottega, and C. Schneider. 1992. J. Cell Biol. 117:1251-1261). In this study we demonstrate that the kinetics of Gas2 phosphorylation, during Go-->G1 transition, as induced by addition of 20% FCS to serum starved NIH 3T3 cells, is temporally coupled to the reorganization of actin cytoskeleton. To better dissect the relationship between Gas2 phosphorylation and the modification of the microfilament architecture we used specific stimuli for both membrane ruffling (PDGF and PMA) and stress fiber formation (L-alpha-lysophosphatidic acid LPA) (Ridley, A. J., and A. Hall. 1992. Cell. 70:389-399). All of them, similarly to 20% FCS, are able to downregulate Gas2 biosynthesis. PDGF and PMA induce Gas2 hyperphosphorylation that is temporally coupled with the appearance of membrane ruffling where Gas2 localizes. On the other hand LPA, a specific stimulus for stress fiber formation, fails to induce a detectable Gas2 hyperphosphorylation. Thus, Gas2 hyperphosphorylation is specifically correlated with the formation of membrane ruffling possibly implying a role of Gas2 in this process.

Abstract:
The need to incorporate cultural aspects into business practice is long-standing. The cultural environment in Ukraine and Italy was reshaped, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. Social networks reflected such transformation both at the personal level and in the business activities of national companies on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other media. Facebook pages were analyzed as the most popular social platform in Ukraine and Italy to reveal these changes. Content analysis of countries' leaders in retail, e-commerce, and service was carried out, namely EVA, Rozetka, and Nova Noshta for Ukraine; and Conad, Bottega Verde, and Italo Treno for Italy. Two-phase desk research was conducted with ten research questions for each cultural dimension encoded in a binary system. The research has shown that Ukrainian business still manifests collaborative problem solving, compliance with social standards, and the value of human life. It demonstrates a low level of power distance and uncertainty avoidance. Ukraine is gradually changing its paradigm of thinking to a more hedonic and individualistic similar to Western Europe. In contrast, Italy shows less respect for power in all its manifestations and a greater willingness to take risks than before. The country has become less goal-oriented, restrained, and masculine but more collectivistic.

Abstract:
In the 15th century, brain illustration began to change from a schematic system that involved scant objective rendering of the brain, to accurate depictions based on anatomical dissections that demanded significant artistic talent. Notable examples of this innovation are the drawings of Leonardo da Vinci (1498–1504), Andreas Vesalius' association with the bottega of Titian to produce the drawings of Vesalius' De humani corporis fabrica (1543), and Christopher Wren's illustrations for Thomas Willis' Cerebri Anatome (1664). These works appeared during the Renaissance and Age of Enlightenment, when advances in brain imaging, or really brain rendering, reflected not only the abilities and dedications of the artists, but also the influences of important cultural and scientific factors. Anatomy and human dissection became popular social phenomena as well as scholarly pursuits, linked with the world of the fine arts. The working philosophy of these artists involved active participation in both anatomical study and illustration, and the belief that their discoveries of the natural world could best be communicated by rendering them in objective form (that is, with realistic perspective). From their studies emerged the beginning of contemporary brain imaging. In this article, the authors examine how the brain began to be imaged in realism within a cultural and scientific milieu that witnessed the emergence of anatomical dissection, the geometry of linear perspective, and the closer confluence of art and science.

ESTIMATE OF SOY WATER DEMAND USING SOIL WATER BALANCE MODEL AND WEATHER FORECAST DATA 2 ABSTRACT Estimating the water demand for crops in real and future time can contribute to greater efficiency in the use of water in irrigated agriculture. The present study aimed to estimate the water requirement of soy using the water balance model CROPWAT with data from the weather forecast for the calculation of reference evapotranspiration (ETo). For this, the study was conducted in two stages: collection of soil data, meteorological forecast and culture in three agricultural years: 2017/18, 2018/19 and 2019; modeling of the conditions observed in the field by the CROPWAT model. The modeling was efficient (d = 0.99) to estimate the available water capacity in the soil, presenting low error (RMSE = 2.18 mm) compared to the values measured in the field, resulting in the recommendation of irrigation depth equal to that applied to the crop, which is 132, 135 and 60 mm, respectively, for the agricultural years 2017/18, 2018/19 and 2019. The use of the CROPWAT soil water balance model with weather forecast data for the calculation of the Reference evapotranspiration can be used as a tool to estimate the water requirement of soybean in the edaphoclimatic region of Cachoeira do Sul-RS. Keywords: simulação do balanço hídrico, manejo da irrigação, previsão meteorológica.

Abstract:
Five methods for determining screw parameters of finite rigid body motion, using position data of three noncollinear points, are compared on the basis of their efficiency, accuracy, and sensitivity to data error. It is found that the method based on Rodrigues’ Formula (Bottema and Roth’s method) is the most efficient. Angeles’ method and Laub and Shiflett’s method provide approximately the same level of accuracy, which is superior to that of the other methods. In terms of sensitivity, Bottema and Roth’s method is preferable. On the basis of this study it is recommended that Bottema and Roth’s method be used if uncertainty exists in the data, since it can provide a solution efficiently, accurately and it is the least sensitive to data error.

Abstract:
A taste component is implicated in the oro-sensory detection of dietary lipids and free fatty acids seem to be involved in fatty food recognition. Bottarga, the salted and semi-dried ovary product of mullet (Mugil spp.), is a rich-fat food. A comparative sensory assessment of different commercial bottarga samples was performed in insect and human models in relation to their lipid composition. The bottarga attractant effect to Ceratitis capitata was assessed by behavioral tests. The subjective odor and taste perception of bottarga samples was investigated in human determining the rate of pleasantness, familiarity, and intensity dimensions using the 7-points Likert-type scale. Bottarga samples showed similar lipid profiles, but differences emerged in total and free fatty acid levels. Significant differences were observed in the attractant effect/acceptability of samples to medflies, negatively correlated to their total and free fatty acids. Insect female exhibited the ability to select among bottarga samples based on their visual and olfactory properties. In the human model, a potential contribution of free fatty acid amount in the pleasantness and familiarity dimensions of taste of bottarga samples was evidenced. Women exhibited a greater ability than men to select bottarga samples based on their better olfactory perception. Our results increase the knowledge about this outstanding product with nutritional and nutraceutical properties.
