Full textThis work is achieved in MIS Laboratory (MIS EA 4290) of Picardie Jules Verne University. It has financially supported by the European INTERREG IVA 2 seas PN 05-025- FR Project SCODECE. Diesel engines have to satisfy three expectations: control cost, a low impact in environment and improved reliability. The control objective treat in this work is to regulate the EGR and VVT flows to specified values depending on the fuel command and the engine speed. The modeling of the air path System of turbocharged diesel engine by a T-S fuzzy model has been studied to deal with the complexity of the Diesel engine. Tracking control strategies based on TS fuzzy models have been developed. Simulation results on professional Simulator AMEsim have been validated. All the results are published on national and international conferences

Full textThis PHD thesis is a contribution to the design of the diagnosis system of the air path of a PSA Peugeot Citroën Diesel engine. For complex systems, as Diesel engines, searching for the consistency tests which are relevant for diagnosing faults is not obvious. The Structural Analysis method is used in order to make this search easier, for it provides a system's diagnosis designer with information, such as : the diagnosis potential of the system, and the exhaustive definition of consistency tests. This thesis describes efficient structural analysis algorithms, which help manage the complexity of current algorithms. This objective is met thanks to the simplification of the analysis process : the consistency tests returned by the developed algorithms have good properties of computability, and possess good fault isolability potential. This simplification comes from the integration of calculability constraints and of diagnosis requirements into current algorithms. Developed algorithms are integrated into a software allowing to analyze Simulink models, and are illustrated thanks to two application cases. The second application case presented in this thesis is a PSA Peugeot Citroën internal model describing a Diesel engine air path. A structural analysis yields indicators discriminating two types of clogging, and thus allows tto improve the diagnosis coverage of Diesel engines

Full textPollution problems related to the automotive sector have been known since the 1940s. The United States was the first to be impacted by the automotive "boom" of the inter-war period, and introduced the first anti-pollution laws in 1960. Following these directives and the two oil shocks, various commitments for global emission limitations have been born for some 20 years. The Kyoto Protocol and the European Union directives (Euro 6c currently in force) are the main recent illustrations. This thesis is in line with the work undertaken almost fifty years ago in order to continue efforts to reduce consumption and pollution of motor vehicles. It thus proposes a method of rapid visualization with the present computer means, of the internal aeraulic behaviour in the cylinder head and the combustion chamber of the spark-ignition engines. The goal is to be able to predict these variations reliably and quickly using numerical simulation tools, in order to limit the manufacture, quantity and cost of the prototypes to be tested

Full textThe aim of the research works presented in this thesis is to model the air loop of a Diesel engine in real-time calculation on a HiL test bench. A 0D combustion model based on the double Wiebe equations approach was used. Moreover, a modeling of the auto-ignition delay was established following two approaches: for pilot and post injections, only the Arrhenius approach was adopted, while for the main injection, the Arrhenius approach and a simple correlation determining the auto-ignition delay were tested. Furthermore, the modeling of pollutant emissions such as NOx, during the combustion phase, was performed using the extended Zeldovich mechanism. A model of two zones combustion was developed to determine the burnt gas temperature necessary to NOx model. Then, the reduction of the NOx emissions in the SCR system was designed based on a chemical reactions model capable of simulating their evolution within the catalyst. Finally, the combustion model has been implemented in the global vehicle model and tested in static mode (offline) and only for specific operating points. The results show a good behavior of the model against the pressure readings measured, in terms of both ignition delay prediction, and the cylinder pressure evolution. This means that a good estimation of the generated engine torque was established
