Although the STS literature on boundary-work recognizes that such work unfolds within a “terrain of uneven advantage” vis-à-vis gender, race, and other inequalities, reflection about that uneven advantage has been strikingly underdeveloped. This article calls for a retheorizing of boundary-work that engages more actively with feminist, critical race, and postcolonial scholarship and examines more systematically the relation between scientific boundary-work, broader structures of sociopolitical inequality, and boundary-workers’ (embodied) positionality. Recent research suggests that many university students struggle to complete their degrees, with students reporting that working while studying contributes substantially to this struggle. Managing the two competing roles of work and study can affect a student’s academic progress, subsequent career success, and wellbeing. To date, however, little research has examined how students manage the boundaries between these roles. The research presented in this PhD addresses how students manage their work and study roles by examining how identity concepts influence their decisions to implement boundary

This thesis explores the experiences of managers who work flexibly. Flexible working policies are prevalent in all organizations in the UK because of the legislation giving specific groups of parents and carers the right to request flexible working. Many organizations extend the policies to all employees, yet the take-up is not as high as expected, particularly among staff at managerial levels. This thesis explores how managers construe and experience flexible working arrangements while successfully fulfilling their roles as managers of people. Abstract Consistent simulations of compressor speedlines from choke to surge are challenging for CFD codes. Changing the outlet boundary condition along the speedline is often necessary to obtain physically plausible and numerically robust results. The root of the problem is the compressor characteristic: Close to choke, a mass flow rate as outlet boundary condition can produce ambiguous values and close to surge, a pressure boundary condition can yield multi-valued results. The paper discusses an outlet boundary condition based on a reduced outlet mass flow rate to overcome this problem. The
