Full textPaul Bourget (1852-1935), a famous writer, critic and poet of his time, has been neglected by critics. The last major thesis devoted to him was by Michel Mansuy in 1960. It is therefore necessary to update the status and reception of his work. This thesis is part of an effort to understand rather than rehabilitate the author: Bourget and his novel must be restored to their place in literary history. This means questioning the categories established by critics, which rigidify his work and prevent a proper understanding of the author's situation. Bourget's novelistic creation, spanning a career of sixty years, is in fact labile and sometimes hesitant. In this work, we attempt to define his conception of the novel and, in parallel, that of his criticism, from his psychological perspective. We proceed in three stages: firstly, we examine the sources of Bourget's psychological novel - his readings and influences; secondly, we study his novelistic work and analyse its psychological and aesthetic dimension; finally, we explore the boundaries of this work, at the crossroads of other categories that also define it: the mundane novel, the moral or moralist novel and the social or thesis novel

Full textBourget's lake dwellings belong to these emblematics entities that every protohistorian knows, but indirectly, through + filters ; of formers publications. So, the first aim of this study is to present the material collected in lac du Bourget's settlements. A typological, then chronological, analysis of differents materials is began with this aim in view. After examination of locals and extra-regionals comparisons becomes apparent, during midle period of late bronze age (bf iib-iiia), a partition into two regionals groups. Lac du Bourget is connected with the group extended on Savoie, Isère and Ain, while haute-Savoie presents more affinities with switzerland. The material of + Savoie-Isère-Ain ; group presents clears convergences with those of eastern burgundy or massif central. These contacts are going on during last period of late bronze age (bf iiib), extending now to bassin de la Charente. So, a vast cultural entity, centred on massif central, and extended from bassin de la Charente to Savoie, seems apparent. This entity, + region de france centrale ;, is not uniform and presents differents + provinces ; or groups : a group + Bourget ;, a group + massif central ; and a group + centre-ouest

Full textInthe contemporary french novel, rome is the archetypical city of paradox. The authors' treatments of it point out its antagonisms, its uncertainties, its contradictions. In fact, an evocation of time, for them, is a review of centuries past, but also of the present epoch, unification, fascism, because rome reveals itself as a veritable palimp sest on which one can read the city's multifold histories: the past blends constantly, and identifies itself, with the present. City that they ancher in space seems to exist as multiplicity. The portrait of a three-faced city emerges from their works. It's a profile of three more or less well defined universes: antiquity catholicism, modern times. Their analysis prompts one to retain the epithet baroque as one of the city's prime descriptions. For these authors, rome is the city of the baroque age, but especially the city where present and past, the profane and the sacred, beauty and ugliness shadow and light, the capital and the provincial all exist side by side their interpretation of myths suggests two constants: the she-wolf, the association roma amor. Myths that embody decadence replace the representation born of triumphalist legends. In the sense, by the same token, the anagramme becomes phonetic: unfulfille

Full textBenthic microbial communities are actively involved in organic matter recycling and fact biogeochemical functioning of lake ecosystems. These communities comprise many phyla but their functional diversity is still incompletely known. This study is focused on the benthic microbial communities involved in the methane cycle in lacsutrine suystems. We aimed understanding the structural and abundance changes of functional genes related to the vertical distribution (redox gradient in sediment), the horizontal variability (coastal vs. pelagic benthic zone) and seasonal dynamics related to mixing of the water column (re-oxygenation of benthic interface). The composition of methanotrophic and methanogenic communities was characterized by sequencing analyses. For this study, sedimentary cores were sampled along a transect from coastal to pelagic zone, at different times during an annual cycle. In addition, each sediment core was analyzed in its verticality from the water-sediment interface to 20 cm depth. Microbial communities involved in the cycle of methane (methanogenesis and methanotrophy) were targeted by 2 functional genes (mcrA and pmoA). Furthermore, phylogenetic markers were used to characterize the total bacterial and archaeal communities. These communities are studied in terms of structure (genotyping), diversity (sequencing) and abundance (qPCR, DNA) of their functional genes. The results of the study showed that, on a spatial scale, a low heterogeneity was detected for a given sampling station in terms of structure of microbial communities (total and functional), however, a high variability was detected both at an horizontal scale along a transect (costal vs. pelagic zone), due to contrasted environmental conditions, and at a vertical scale (upper to deeper layers in the core) under the effect of redox conditions. The bacterial community being the most affected in the verticality, with structural changes among all strata studied. In the same study, a comparative analysis of the structure (for all of the communities), between pooled samples and individual samples, demonstrated that the analysis of individual samples provided a greater number of OTU for the majority of microbial communities. Moreover the study of the temporal dynamic of methanogen and methanotroph communities revealed changes in the structure and abundance, mainly at the water - sediment interface, according to the oxygenation levels that varied through time. The analysis of diversity showed a dominance of Methanomicrobiales (Methanoregula mainly) for methanogens, but Methanosarcinales (Methanosarcina) and Methanobacteriales (Methanobacterium) were also identified. The methanotrophs' community was dominated by Methylobacter on deeper stations and by Methylococcus in coastal station. Type II methanotrophs (Methylosinus and Methylocystis) were also identified. This work highlights the importance of taking into account both the spatial variability (horizontal and vertical) and the temporal variability of methanogen and methanotroph communities. Changes on their structures and abundances are significant parameters for understanding the processes involved in the methane cycle

Full textStudies performed during this PhD thesis attempt to improve the understanding of the functioning of microbial communities in French peri-alpine lakes. An important part of this work consisted in analyzing, through different temporal and spatial scales (short vs. Long, epi- vs. Hypolimnion), the effects of top-down and bottom-up factors over the intra- and interannual dynamic evolution of the free-living bacterial community structure, by using either ecosystemic or experimental approaches in two lakes with different trophic status (Lake Annecy and Lake Bourget, Haute-Savoie, France). Thanks to the ecosystemic approach, we highlighted an inter- and intra-lake variability of the bacterial community structure along time. Moreover, the inter-annual study, performed on the Lake Bourget, showed no repeatability in the temporal dynamics of the bacterial community structure from one year to another. Among the 12 environmental and biological parameters considered in these studies, more than 80% seemed to play a role in the temporal evolution of this structure, underlining the complexity of the factors implicated. A high proportion of this variance (> 60%) was explained only by bottom-up factors whatever the lake and the depth. On the other hand, the topdown factors tended to be expressed more in the hypolimnion than in the epilimnion, with an effect (i) varying between ciliates, flagellates and viruses, and (ii) weaker in comparison to bottom-up effects. In the same time, an experimental approach was conducted during different periods of the year (early spring vs. Summer) in order to assess the impact of predation by flagellates and viral lysis on the bacterial community over short temporal scales (i. E. Days). Despite the appearance of some specific phylotypes depending on the treatments considered, no clear tendency was established concerning the implication of these two processes in the evolution of the bacterial community structure. This confirmed the results obtained from the ecosystemic approach and testified again to the complexity of parameters which take place in the temporal dynamic of the bacterial community structure in large and deep peri-alpine lakes. However, this approach has shown that the combined action of viral activity and predation seemed to play a significant role in sustaining a strong bacterial production in these lacustrine systems

Full textThis piece of writing questions the way a master-disciple imagination-thought out as a riposte to the decadent spirit and advocating a return to the authority of the man of letters – holds an important place in the French novel of the years 1890-1900. It goes through this period with books such as Le Disciple by Paul Bourget, L’Ennemi des Lois by Maurice Barrès and Les Nourritures terrestres by Gide. It focuses on the functioning and the implicit of dialectics master/disciple through the manifestations, the mechanisms and the intentions that the latter conveys, both to an avowed audience (the youth) and to a more confidential readership (peer and rival novelists). It shows how the symbolic advantages drew on the representations of the master participates in a strategy that, under the guise of socialization and education, espouses a post-decadent novelist. The latter, in search of legitimacy and of a new novel writing, undertakes the master class writing exercise as the enthronement of the writer into a mentor, the raising of moral standards in the fictional work into a life lesson and the identification of the reader into a disciple, receiver and receptacle of an authorial teaching. In an operational way, this piece of writing analyses the structure of a “novel-magister/master” that fosters a narrative and a discourse that come from a master source. What’s more, an enunciative and distributive object (here narrative, there extra narrative) sets that structure in the consonant (Bourget), satirical (Barrès) or conflicting (Gide) dividing of an educational fiction that is achieved through the two filters of a fictitious “mise en scène” and of a pragmatical one ; however, the relationship (redundant, distanced, or paradoxical) changes from one text to another. The “master function” ̶ present in the surrounding (of a text) and the narrative of the novel ̶ develops into the two facets of a mechanism that reflects the two modalities of an educational discursive – the former, that results from a common but variable textual device, is a matter for the identity of three authors, close and related but belonging to different generations and having a non-simultaneous fame and whose personal expression concerning the “master figure” remains, to a certain extent, dependent on the identity of the two others. This “master function” thus constitutes the trajectory of a corpus that illustrates in three stages ̶ the catechetics novel, the parodic novel, the “aporia” novel ̶ the shifting of the guarantee of the responsibility to the one of the originality within or in the margins of a “socialization novel” given a new treatment by each writer-mentor. Specular by its split organization, mobile according to the contextual evolution end to its instigators, “the novel-magister/master” indeed espouses and renounces the expectations, the infatuations, and the beliefs of the post-decadent period through the honest (Le Disciple), feigned (L’Ennemi des Lois) or denied (Les Nourritures terrestres) revival of a link between master and disciple used as an epitome of a relationship between the novelist and his reader. The “master” paradigm instituted by the novel is fundamentally ambivalent merely double (it pretends to stick to the fictitious universe but it simultaneously deals with a social mimetism), it furthermore wants to be useful and moralistic (altruistic and ethical) even if it thinks itself as partisan and critical (polemic and ideological). Beyond this structural and tactical ambivalence, there is a central principle of which this paper shows that it can provide the keys to set new targets : the three forms of mastership under study Indeed have as a common point the issue of the manual, the one of its reception (implicit status of the reader/disciple). Thus, the mastership contract told in the narrative and sealed in its paratextual margins is still worth a reading pact where the good and bad master, the good and bad disciple crystallize. This fictional and pragmatic questioning of the “mastership” writing – anxious (Bourget), recreational (Barrès), oblique (Gide) – is the common theme of this paper that tries to highlight a dialectics of complex and polymorphous mastery, whose intelligibility goes through the symbolic stakes assigned t o the book and its reading

Full textThe aim of the study was to analyse the genus Simocephalus from an ecological standpoint especially with regard to environmental parameters and food resources. Samples were taken in lake Bourget (F) and Iseo (1), two basins characterized by different morphology and different trophic status. The research dealt in 4 topics : 1) relationships of genus Simocephalus with environmental parameters: species diversity in Lake Bourget was higher than in lake Iseo, probably depended on conductivity and al. Ka1inity, as shown in previous studies ; 2) investigation on particles size classes preferentially fed by the animal: significant effects were clear for bacteria and for the 1. 2-10 mm particle size class, corresponding to flagellates, which was preferred by S. Vetulus ; 3) phenotypical. Variability of filtering limbs by studying relationships between filter screen dimensions and food particle concentrations: intersetal distance was correlated to three size classes of particles in individuals from lake Bourget, while medium-sized particles only were correlated with S. Velu/us in lake Iseo. We did not find significant correlations between filter screen area and total particle concentration: our hypothesis is that, when particle concentration changes, individuals change their filtration rate ; 4) intra-specific genetic variations of S. Vetulus by the AFLP (Amplified Fragment Length ~ Polymorphism) technique: a cluster analysis allowed clone identification in the two lakes, some generalistic and other specialist. Our results show the importance of the crustacean in littoral areas was evident, due to several adaptation strategies (development of clones) and to its ability in gathering different size classes of food resources (phenotypic plasticity of filter screens)

Full textThe study concerns the occurrence of the bacteria Legionella pneumophila (Lpn) in biofilms from Lake Bourget tributaries. It confirms the ubiquity of the bacteria in flowing waters, but mainly as viable but non culturable state. It highlights that main environmental control factors are local, at the exception of water temperature which is involved in most studied sites. Local control of biofilms development has also been demonstrated in the study of the Aix-les-Bains hydrological network which receives hot springs water and water from the Tillet river. Thermal and chemical disturbances induced by hot waters entrances could still be detected at the farthest downstream part of the network. Biofilms enrichment in Lpn related to theses incomings kept localized possibly due to self-purification processes. Our results depict different answers of microorganisms like Pseudomonas and related bacteria towards physicochemical characteristics. Two experiments were performed based on biological reactors, showing that increases of water temperature or water flow, both enhance Lpn concentration. An hydrological transport model has been designed to serve the management of a waterspout sited by the Aix-les-Bains beach. It is written especially to address periods where biofilms transport holding high Lpn concentrations should be avoided

Full textUrban wastewater are now widely collected and treated. Many questions still remain about the impact of climatic or anthropic evolution on the mobilisation and the transfer of phosphorus to Lake Bourget. This work deals with hydrological and nutrient modelling to understand phosphorus mobilization and transfers processes and to test mitigation options. Thesis is supported by a CIFRE agreement between SAFEGE office and UMR CARRTEL, in partnership with the CISALB. In this context, 2 experimental watersheds nested and variable in land uses (one agricultural of 250 ha, the other suburban and agricultural of 6,800 ha) were instrumented and followed at their outlet over a period of 18 months (continuous measurement of flow and some key parameters of physico-chemical water quality). Hydro-chemical measurements led to a qualitative and quantitative characterization of the exports regime at the outlet of each watershed (water flow, suspended solids, some forms of phosphorus – total, particulate, dissolved - and nitrogen). The exports were then modeled. To account for some specifics processes of mobilization and transfer of phosphorus (variable source areas, "in-stream" processes), some developments of the SWAT model were implemented. IIn this context, this works provides an improved scientific understanding of the mechanisms of transfer of phosphorus. Modeling tool can support the development of mitigation options for best management practices included in the framework of the "Lake Bourget watershed contract"

Full textSince 1998, the cyanobacterium Planktothrix rubescens has bloomed recurrently in the lac du Bourget, despite the restoration of this lake undertaken more than 20 years ago. Through lab experiments, data analysis, and mathematical modeling, this study sought to identify the key factors and processes involved in the current proliferation of this cyanobacterium in the lake. Lab experiments examining the effects of light quality, light quantity, and temperature on the growth of P. Rubescens supported the importance of light and temperature conditions in its current ecological success in the lake. Experiments investigating the potential predation of P. Rubescens by zooplankton showed that the specific adaptations of the cyanobacterium render the negative effects of grazing on its growth negligible. When examining the effects of competitive interactions on the success of P. Rubescens in the lac du Bourget, it was discovered that this cyanobacterium is able to produce allelopathic substances that potentially inhibit the growth of other phytoplankton species. A preliminary analysis of field data allowed the characterization of the meteorological and physical conditions during the years that P. Rubescens made its appearance in the lac du Bourget. Lastly, a modeling study showed the importance of buoyancy regulation in the development and proliferation of the cyanobacterium, and allowed the integration of growth rates obtained in lab experiments. It is concluded that P. Rubescens occupies a very specific niche, and that its success probably depends largely on abiotic conditions in the lakes it occupies. The need for in-depth field data analysis and more modeling studies of its development is evoked

Full textThe 1880’s constitute a determining moment of critical consciousness in the history of literature. This period is marked by the emergence of the psycho-analytical novel (Bourget, Maupassant), to compete with naturalist literature and as a result of a crisis in styles. A new language (Goncourt, Poictevin) breaks with the classic values where clarity and conciseness continue to remain important (Zola and Maupassant). In parallel, experimental psychology (Taine, Ribot, Charcot) and philosophical discourse (Bergson, Schopenhauer) change representations of consciousness. Nerves, hysteria, the unconscious, psychological illness, the renaissance of images and myriad impressions become the new focus of these psychological sciences. The self, from this moment independent and unsettling, both fascinates and influences writers. The renaissance of psychology (before Freud) and the explosive growth of a style in its infancy (before Bally) allow us to understand the epistemological context at the end of the century. This thesis links the scientific, psychological and critical discourse of the 1880s with a corpus of six novels, and develops a study of style in the second part : André Cornélis, Paul Bourget ; Les lauriers sont coupés, Édouard Dujardin ; Fort comme la mort, Guy de Maupassant ; Une page d’amour and La Joie de vivre, Émile Zola, and Chérie, Edmond de Goncourt. The new psychology leads to new models of the self that the novel translates into its own language : It is this set of stylistic changes that this thesis will analyse

Full textOver the past 30 years, there has been a significant increase in the air transportation demand and supply. While the fundamental importance of this mode of transport, for modern societies and economies, are generally recognized, it attracts increasing attention from the political class, because of the negative side effects to which it leads. Indeed, air transports cause also negative environmental externalities, in particular noise pollution, which should be evaluated in order to implement corrective policies (taxes, compensation, etc.).In this context, the depreciation of property values and the risk of social segregation caused by aircraft noise have a growing role in the discussions, which are among the major concerns with the health issues of local residents. For several years now, many studies have been conducted in these areas, abroad. Currently, however, studies are still rare in France. Therefore, this thesis aims to: a) analyze and measure the impact of airport platforms on property values and identify the influential variables (aircraft noise, distance to the airport, etc.), analyze possible social inequality in relation to exposure to aircraft noise, c) provide an operational and sustainable decision support tool by setting up an observatory. To address these objectives, a multidisciplinary methodology combining economic (hedonic price method) and geographic (GIS) expertise has been developed. The main originality of this thesis lies in its comparative approach on a national level, highlighting the specificities of the different territories studied. The territories studied cover all communes located in or close to the noise zones (noise exposure map “Plan d'Exposition au Bruit (PEB)”) of each airport concerned. The airports studied concern both Paris airports (Paris- CDG and Paris-Orly), as well as those of provinces (Lyon Saint-Exupery and Toulouse-Blagnac)

Full textThe free-living bacteria point of view dominates in recent research of freshwater microbial ecology, only a few studies have focused on attached bacterial communities. In present study, based on 16S rRNA gene sequences, diversity of attached and free-living bacterial community was investigated from two freshwater aquatic systems ; a mesotrophic lake Bourget and a hypereutrophic lake Villerest. The diversity of attached and free-living Actinobacteria, Betaproteobacteria and Verrucomicrobia, in relation to environmental variables was investigated from lake Bourget during two contrasting periods of phytoplankton dominance. Comparison analyses showed a phylogenetic difference between attached and free-living bacterial communities of all three studied bacterial groups. The betaI, appeared as most dominant among all clades representing phylogenetic diversity of freshwater Betaproteobacteria, for both attached and free-living fractions, contributing to 57.8% of of the total retrieved opertational taxonomic units (OTUs). For Actinobacteria, the acIV cluster was detected as dominant, followed by acI accounting for 45% and 25% of the total retrieved OTUs respectively. Similarly, freshwater Verrucomicrobia cluster namely, CRE-PA29, FukuN18, CL120-10 appeared as dominant, comprising 22.3%, 16.15% and 14.61% of the total retrieved OTUs respectively. This study allowed defining 15 new putative clades representing the freshwater bacterial divesity of Betaproteobacteria (lbI-lbVIII), Actinobacteria (acLBI) and Verrucomicrobia (CRE-PA29, FukuS27, BourFI-BourFIV). In addition, 12 clusters representing the phylogenetic diversity of Betaproteobacteria, Actinobacteria and Verrucomicrobia were exclusively comprised of OTUs from the attached fraction. The seasonal dynamics of environmental variables have been reflected as changes in distinct bacterial phylotypes for both attached and free-living communities. The attached bacterial communities of Actinobacteria showed affiliation with Chrysophyceae biomass and N-NO3, while attached Betaproteobacteria were affiliated with biomass of Chlorophyceae and phytoplankton richness. Similarly attached verrucomicrobial communities appeared to be mainly influenced by phytoplankton richness, rotifers abundances and inorganic nutrients (NNO3,SiO2). On the other hand, within free-living communities, few actinobacterial clades were found to be dependent on either nutrients or phytoplankton communities, whereas Betaproteobacteria and Verrucomicrobia were mainly associated with biological parameters (i.e. phytoplankton and copepods communities). In another study during a cyanobacterial (Microcystis sp.) bloom from lake Villerest, Betaproteobacteria, Gammaproteobacteria, Alphaproteobacteria, Bacteroidetes and Actinobacteria were detected as prevalent taxa among the 16S rRNA gene clone libraries, however, Verrucomicrobia and Deinococcus-Thermus appeared as comparatively less abundant bacterial groups in both fractions. Whereas, Gemmatimonadetes, Acidobacteria, Chloroflexi, Planctomycetes, Deltaproteobacteria, Firmicutes and Op11 were appeared as minor phyla in clone libraries of attached and free-living bacterial communities. For attached bacterial communities Betaproteobacteria (n=118) appeared as most dominant group, followed by Gammaproteobacteria (n=74) and Bacteroidetes (n=52). The phylogenetic analysis of the sequences obtained for the clone library from free-living fraction showed that most of the OTUs belonged to Betaproteobacteria (n=192) followed in decreasing order by Bacteroidetes (n=132) and Actinobacteria (n=61) whereas Gammaproteobacteria (n=42) and Alphaproteobacteria (n=42) appeared in equal proportion in free-living 16S rRNA clone libraries. Full textThis thesis analyses the national identity crisis at the turn of the 20th century as stakes of intellectual rivalry in French literature. By placing the discourse of "modernity" in a historical viewpoint, surprising similarities are revealed between the answers proposed by philosophers (particularly Bergson) and writers (Bourget, Barrès, then Ghéon, Gide and Proust). Purely aesthetic and ideological frames of reference are challenged as incapable of explaining the most basic junction of literature and politics: the one resulting from the construction of identity representations. The perceived limits of aesthetic, philosophical and political domains of the era became the instrument of power struggles establishing the legitimacy of the intellectual elite. . .

Full textThis thesis compares Swedish and French literary prose fiction written between 1884 and1892 and its approach to Decadent themes, with focus on the female portraits and their aesthetic impact. Eight texts are analyzed in order to explore how the Swedish fin de siècle literature – partly interpreted as belonging to the political literary program of the ”Modern Breakthrough” – relates to the French literature and the Decadence. As the literary Decadence is concerned about the gender roles, the focus on the female characters is profitable and original; most main characters in Decadent literature are male, which has also influenced earlier research on this period’s literature. The study is divided into three major parts: 1) pictures of the independent woman; 2) gender roles and sexuality; 3) female characters and decadent ontology. In the first part, the analyses focus on features and behavior – as well as “la femme fatale” and the women’s look upon themselves. In the second part, themes such as androgyny, sexuality and eroticism are examined. In the third part, the study explores how the female figures relate to the ideas of degeneration and the feelings of loss: secularization, artifice and (non-)health. The more the analyses are developed, the clearer it becomes that the Swedish texts are influenced by the same decadent themes and ideas as the French texts. Nevertheless, a difference is that the French literature’s female characters more often are depicted with exaggerated traits than the Swedish characters, a difference that the thesis points out as connected to the Modern Breakthrough and its political program

Full textThis thesis studies the role played by regional stock markets as well as their functioning between 1800 and 1945, in particular the Lyon Stock Exchange. The analytical framework draws on the literature on competition among stock exchanges. The thesis is structured in five papers. Chapter 1 deals with the creation of regional stock markets during the mid-nineteenth century, i.e. nearly 40 years after the reopening of the Paris Stock Exchange. The second and third chapters address the first aspect of the competitive dynamics between stock exchanges in France, i.e. the competition on issuers, and provide two measures of financial development: the number of companies listed on each stock market between 1870 and 1913 and the number of IPOs between 1898 and 1909. Chapters 4 and 5 deal with competition on stock market activity, i.e. on orders received by stockbrokers. While Chapter 4 is devoted to the end of the nineteenth century and and focuses specifically onthe crash of the Union Générale, Chapter 5 adresses the two World Wars. These two chapters offer two measures of stock market volumes

Full textWe show, at first, the life of that man: his biography, his relationship with women and men, as well as his intellectual life with the help of unpublished papers giving facts and truth among some inaccurate things which were told before. Inn a second period, we present the whole literary work of this man, showing all he wrote from the published works to his letters, setting a large view upon his creation. Very numerous unpublished documents illustrate this section. Then we examinate the contact between e. Bourges and the critic: from himself as critic and Goncourt’s academician, than as man and author estimate and criticized. Finally, we survey some themes link to the ideas of death and destiny. To complete this picture of the man and his work, we gave with this monography, the critical edition of an unpublished youth novel: The Hate of Joel Servais, adventure novel which began before the revolution and ended after the Second Empire

Full textOur thesis recounts the youth of Elémir Bourges (1852-1925), from his birth in Manosque until his departure for Samois in August 1886. We examine the novelist’s childhood in Marseille, his artistic discoveries, his first literary projects (influenced by Parnassianism and Naturalism) and the friendships he formed in Paris from 1874 (with Bourget, Coppée, Bouchor, Richepin, Redon, Zola, Montesquiou, Margueritte, Lorrain, Primoli, Goncourt, Mirbeau, etc.), the genesis of Jacques d'Aubray, La Haine de Joël Servais, Angélique Pitié, Sous la hache, Le Crépuscule des dieux, L'Enfant qui revient, Les oiseaux s’envolent et les fleurs tombent, his dramatic criticism in Le Parlement, chronicles in Le Gaulois, literary critic in La Revue des chefs-d’œuvre, his meeting in 1878 with Anna Braunerova, his future wife, and with the Czech artist Zdenka Braunerova, the reception of Le Crépuscule des dieux (1884) and Sous la hache (1885). Our biography is based on a large number of unpublished documents from the National Library of France, the Buzzini-Bourges fund of the Archives of the State of Valais, the Literary Archives of the Museum of Czech Literature (Prague), the Archives of Museum of Central Bohemia in Roztoky and private collections. It includes an edition of the manuscript of Jacques d'Aubray, Bourges’s first novel
Personnic, Sébastien. "Dynamique des communautés microbiennes et impacts des virus sur les bactéries auto- et hétérotrophes en milieu lacustre." Chambéry, 2007. http://www.theses.fr/2007CHAMS023.
Full textA pluri-annual study was conducted, from July 2002 to December 2006, in the three peri-alpine lakes : Annecy, Bourget and Geneva. It allowed us to observe spatial and temporal variations for the abundances of viruses, auto- and heterotrophic bacteria, flagellates, ciliates and small-pigmented eukaryotes between 0 and 50 m depth. We could observe that (I) the dynamics of these micro organisms was relatively well reproducible from one year to the other (II) abiotic parameters (e. G. Temperature) and water column layers (i. E. Epi- vs. Hypolimnion) were significantly involved in the variability of microorganism abundance (III) some differences were observed according to the trophic status of lakes (the mesotrophic Geneva and Bourget vs. The oligotrophic lake Annecy), (IV) at a pluri-annual scale, the variation of abundance of grazers and viruses explained only a low fraction of bacterial abundance variability. A second approach (based on a modified dilution method) was used to quantify simultaneously the impact of viruses and flagellated predators (< 10 µm) as mortality agents of heterotrophic bacteria and picocyanobacteria. Lysis and predation pressure exerted on heterotrophic bacteria was undetectable in winter, whereas in summer they could be responsible for up to 71 % of the heterotrophic bacterial mortality in Lake Geneva. Also, in autumn, lysis and predation reached 42 and 18 % in Lake Geneva and Bourget, respectively. At the same period, viruses could explain 9,8 % and 7,6 % of the picocyanobacterial mortality in the two mesotrophic lakes, suggesting that they could play a key role in fall bloom termination. In contrast, for the oligotrophic Lake Annecy, viruses and predators did not seem to impact strongly and thus control bacterial community abundance. All together, the results obtained during this PhD work allowed us to verify and specify the variability and potential importance of viruses and predators to regulate the procaryotic abundance in large peri-alpine lakes. This work also highlighted the necessity to go further in the knowledge of the different viral life strategies and determine which factors are involved in the control of these strategies

Full textThe study of the relations between the town councils (les corps de ville) and the king is based on a systematic scrutiny of the deliberations and account registers and of a number of series from the records of the towns of Bourges, Poitiers and Tours between 1430 and 1560. This documentary body is examined from the point of view of a renewed political history, around the question of the genesis of modern State. With the "bonne ville" model as a starting point, it is a matter of investigating the nature of the political relations and to understand to what extent the transformations affecting the State come from a profound reorganization of powers and involve all of the constituent bodies of the kingdom, and especially the town councils. The analysis is carried out along four themes: the military role of towns alongside the king; royal taxation and its impact on town government; town police and its actors; the forms of the political and symbolic dialogue between the king and his "bonnes villes" These explorations are supplemented with a study in a historical perspective in which the highlights of urban life in each of these three towns between 1380 and 1560 reveal the successive stages of the rapprochement of towns and king. During that period the change of the old communities (communes) into actual towns (municipalités) is closely linked to the evolution of the royal State and the circumstances of its development. In the new order of the kingdom, towns gain functions beyond the mere sphere of town police, become integrated on military, fiscal, political, and even symbolic and affective grounds into the good organization of monarchy, and work for the good government of what can from then on be called public affairs. This participation of the town councils results from a government entente showing some evidence of malfunction even before the first war of religion
Gallois, Martine. "Étude sur "Lion de Bourges", poème épique du XIVe siècle." Thesis, Lyon 2, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011LYO20027/document.
Full textThe long epic poem Lion de Bourges portrays the personal quest of a hero, first, to set in order a feudal political structure; then his own family structure (through ancestry and parentage); and finally, his personal life; for seeking his origins and father becomes a search for his own identity. The chivalric ideal therefore is seen through three complementary perspectives. Initially, when faced with the instability of social structures and royal power, Lion seeks to re-establish political order, but both Lion’s inability to complete his goals and the constant reappearance of evil cause this quest to remain incomplete. Afterwards, Lion’s effort to bring his family back together is derailed by traitors’ plots and the fortunes of adventure, so there again the hero’s efforts produce only imperfect or unsatisfactory results. It is thus only at the highest level, the quest for personal order, for spiritual perfection, that the private itinerary of Lion de Bourges might find its true goal. However, his last desire, to reach sanctity, leads to failure as well: contact with the Christian supernatural is reserved for the White Knight, a helpful spirit, and the hero must content himself with a lesser form of supernatural, the enchanted marvelous world. Clearly, this poem demonstrates, in an original and highly consistent way, the pessimistic view of the human ideal and of heroic engagement that predominates in late French epic

Full textThe first part of our work is devoted to a both theorical and empirical analysis of hidden order use on Euronext. First of all, we expose the necessary concepts to understand the context in which hidden orders were created and evolve now. We also describe exhaustively the market structure of Euronext. In the second part of our work, we examine the magnitude of hidden order use for the stocks belonging to the CAC40 index. We first highlight significant differences between hidden order placement and usual order submission. Then, we test the hypothesis that hidden orders are used by informed traders to get profit

Full textThe economic integration of countries, over the last decades has had repercussions on the stock exchanges system. Although share markets and their indexes are still largely determined by national factors, the influence of the world environment is growing. Connections between stock exchanges are not only based on capital movements, but also on the transmission of information. The world globalization of the companies activities can go without the globalization of their shares markets. The financial center are competing to attract investors. As a consequence, some of them will be doomed to disappear, some others to concentrate on regional activities. Only few of them will become financial centers of large economic supra national areas

Full textIn this thesis, the autor wants to demonstrat the place of the towns and the boroughs in the constitution and the organization of a region, which is called the agenais. The existence of agenais is not due to his particularisms, to his agriculture or to his social pratices, but to the ties weavad between the towns and the country around, out of the influence of bordeaux and toulouse. From la reole to valence-d'agen, and from condom to the valley of the dropt, agenais is a essentially functionnel space. These frontiers are issued from the observation of internal and external forces. So definite this region of 7300km2 is populated by less than 400 000 inhabitants. In three agglomerations, agen, villeneuve-surlot and marmande, then are more than 20 000 inhabitants and about ten others from 4 000 to 15 000. The thesis seem to our eyes, a good illustration of the important of the role of middle towns in the determination of a space, in which urban functions and practices are nearly mist after an introduction in which are presented the frontiers of this work, first book " named agenais (p. 9-225) describes economie, human and social environment of this region. The functions of towns and boroughs and the urban organization, are evocated in "second book" villes et bourgs dans l'agenais (pp. 229-474). In the first book the author insists upon the relation between agenais and national or regional space; in the second book are delimited the areas of influence of the cities on the rural country, and these consequences about declining or the dynamism of some parts of agenais. In the "third book" villes et bourgs de l'agenais (pp. 447-641) are described the processus of the growth of agglomerations (demography, spatial sprawl) : that to show the importance of the mutations since second world war. Finally, in the conclusion (pp. 745-754) a bilan is tired and some prospects advanced
