Abstract:
Background and Study Aim. In the basis of the boxer's power qualities is the ability to perceive and process external information. Therefore, in order to ensure the proper training of qualified boxers, there is a need to monitor the functional state of the boxer’s organism. The relationship between cognitive functions and special working capacity of elite boxers were studied. Material and Methods. The level of special working capacity was studied by the test of punching a boxer for 8 s at maximum speed. Cognitive functions (verbal and nonverbal intelligence, and word memory) were studied using the "Multipsychometer-05" hardware-software. 26 elite boxers, aged 18-24, were tested. Results. The research results showed that groups of boxers with different levels of special working capacity differ in terms of accuracy and efficiency when performing a cognitive task with verbal stimuli. The resulted that the high level of special working capacity of elite boxers is provided by the manifestation of verbal intelligence. Besides, the special working capacity is related with activation of mental functions of attention, speed of visual perception, operational and logical thinking. At the same time, significantly higher values of decision latency in this group of boxers indicate a slowdown in the processing of nonverbal information in boxers with a high level of special working capacity to work. It can be noted that the special working capacity of boxers has a direct relationship with quality and inverse relationship with the speed of information processing. The speed of memorizing verbal information is better in boxers with a high level of special working capacity. This fact indicates the importance of the verbal factor for the assimilation of special information in the training of boxers. The best values of accuracy and efficiency indicate the relationship of special working capacity in skilled boxers with the quality and volume of memorized verbal information. Conclusions. The special working capacity of elite boxers has a direct relationship with quality and inverse relationship with the speed of information processing. The elite boxers with a high level of special working capacity have a better speed of verbal information memorizing.

Abstract:
Purpose : the comparative study of the immunity features of elite athletes of different sports. Material : study involved athletes of the highest mastery level of cyclic and acyclic sports (n = 147, age 18-23 years). Athletes were divided into groups by kinds of sport. Skiers (n = 54), swimmers (n = 23), wrestlers (n = 49), boxers (n = 21). Results : It was determined that athletes of acyclic sports (wrestlers and boxers) had a significant double increase in the level of secretory immunoglobulin IgA. In parallel, the level of immunoglobulins IgG is reduced. The highest indicators of lysosomal activity were recorded in skiers. Boxers, wrestlers, and swimmers had a decrease in the lysosomal activity level. The maximum phagocytic number is determined in wrestlers, and the minimum - in boxers. Conclusions : Comparative study of the immunity features of elite athletes in various sports suggests that there is a strain on the immune status. This condition is especially expressed in acyclic sports athletes (wrestling, boxing). This is due to the loads in the preparation process. The data received allow to confirm the significance of immune protection indicators in monitoring the athletes functional status.

Abstract:
The rapid development of society promotes the rapid improvement of science and technology. On this basis, the development of nanotechnology has also made great achievements and has been applied to all walks of life. Among them, nanotitanium oxide provides favorable conditions for the medical treatment of various joint injuries. And sports rehabilitation training also plays an irreplaceable role in the treatment of joint injury, promoting the rapid recovery of joint injury. Boxing is a sport in which boxing gloves are worn for fighting. It has both amateur and professional competitions. The purpose of this paper is to study the therapeutic effect of nanotitanium oxide combined with sports rehabilitation training on the wrist joint injury of boxers. According to the therapeutic effect of the research, it can provide useful treatment basis for clinical treatment and help boxers recover wrist joint injury, so as to carry out boxing training later. The method adopted in this paper is as follows: first, the subjects were randomly divided into nanotitanium oxide combined with sports rehabilitation training group, nanotitanium oxide treatment group, sports rehabilitation training treatment group, and control group. Then, the subjects were tested with the score table, and the score data were recorded. Finally, chi-square test was used to test the experimental results. In conclusion, through the research and comparison, it is found that nanotitanium oxide combined with sports rehabilitation training can reduce the pain of boxers’ wrist joint injury; after the treatment of wrist joint injury of boxers by nanotitanium oxide combined with sports rehabilitation training, the pain score decreased, and the daily function was improved; the PT score before the experiment was 15%, and the peak torque score after the experiment was 26%. The Pt/BW score was 22% before the experiment and 37% after the experiment. This reflects the strength of wrist muscle contraction, judging that the stability of wrist joint is enhanced after the experiment; nanotitanium oxide combined with exercise rehabilitation training can increase the sensitivity of wrist joint after the treatment of boxer wrist joint injury.

Abstract:
Compared to other sports, very little research has been conducted on which variables can predict victory in the sport of boxing. This investigation examined whether boxers' age, weight change from their preceding contest, country of origin, total number of wins, total number of losses, performance in their preceding contest, or the possession of a championship title was predictive of a winning performance in a given bout. A 1-mo. sample of male professional boxing records for all contests held in the USA ( N = 400) were collected from the BoxRec online database. Logistic regression analysis indicated that only boxers' age, total number of wins and losses, and the performance in the preceding contest predicted significant variance in outcome.

Abstract:
The article discusses individual training of students-boxers at the training base of the Russian higher educational institution. The article substantiates the position that individual training of boxers is one of the ways to achieve the highest sports results. The author notes special role of the educational organization in creating conditions necessary for the growth and development of the student’s personality, including his or her sports improvement. In the course of the study, a pedagogical experiment is conducted in a sports improvement group. The aim of the experiment is to identify the correlation between the methods of individual improvement of boxers and the results shown by these athletes at the end of the training process. Conclusions are drawn that assert the theory of this correlation. The conducted experiment shows that the factors of consistent achievement of the highest sports results include stable personal qualities of a student: developed selfdiscipline, punctuality, responsibility, desire for self-improvement; good health and high athletic qualities (psychophysical, tactical and technical); the level of the coach’s competence and pedagogical skills; the system of individual improvement, developed by the coach and suitable for a boxer.

Abstract:
Relevance. Training a sense of distance in boxing, crucial for success in fights, proves challenging due to its complexity, closely tied to technical and tactical training. The relevance of the study is conditioned upon the need to find means and methods of sports training of boxers that will contribute to achieving high results in boxing. Purpose. The purpose of the study is to summarise the theoretical and methodological aspects of the development of a sense of distance among boxers of different qualifications. Methodology. To achieve the purpose, the following methods were used: analysis of theoretical works and empirical research, analysis, synthesis, interviews with trainers, questionnaires, modelling. Results. The study examined the development of a sense of distance in boxers of varying skill levels, taking into account their physical attributes, psychological traits, and fighting styles. Through interviews with 14 male trainers aged between 27 and 43, as well as a thorough review of theoretical literature, the research identified, isolated, and categorized the key features influencing distance perception in boxing. It was found that a boxer's proficiency in gauging distance significantly influences their tactical approach to a fight, with more talented or experienced boxers demonstrating a heightened sense of distance. Conclusions. The study underscores the lack of detailed research on the development of a boxer's sense of distance across various skill levels. Existing exercises are not tailored to individual boxers' qualifications, body types, or fighting styles. Trainers acknowledge the importance of distance perception but rely mainly on general training exercises. The findings of the study are expected to enhance overall training effectiveness by providing targeted strategies for cultivating distance awareness at each stage of a boxer's development. The results of the study have practical value for trainers, athletes, and sports theorists. Keywords: distance; boxing; qualification; training; coordination

Abstract:
Given the relatively little attention devoted to the study of combat sports in the sport psychology literature, the aim of this investigation was to obtain additional insight into the life and world of professional boxers, particularly with respect to their experiences of training for fights. Existential phenomenological interviews were conducted with nine professional British boxers ranging in age from 22 to 42 years. Qualitative analysis of the transcripts revealed a total of 341 meaning units, which were further grouped into higher order themes. A final thematic structure revealed six major dimensions that characterized participants’ training experience: Achieving Potential, Preparing, Sacrificing, Finding Support, Fearing, and Loving/Hating. The results offer a number of insights for sport psychology researchers and practical implications for boxers, trainers, and sport psychology consultants.

Abstract:
Nicknaming of individual athletes and sports teams is a multifaceted phenomenon the analysis of which reveals numerous reasons for choosing a particular name or nickname. The practice of nicknaming has become so embedded in the concept of sport that it requires exceptional attention by those who create these labels. The goal of this research was to analyse the semantic structure of boxers’ nicknames, i.e. the possible principles of their formation. To realize the research aims 378 male boxers’ nicknames, predominantly in the English language, were collected. The nicknames were allocated to semantic categories according to the content area or areas they referred to. Counts and percentages were calculated for the nicknames in each subsample created with regard to the number of semantic categories used to create a boxer’s nickname and for the group of nicknames allocated to the miscellaneous group. Counts were calculated for all groups within each subsample.

Stewart, Alex. "The boxer's point of view : an ethnography of cultural production and athletic development among amateur and professional boxers in England." Thesis, University of Bedfordshire, 2008. http://hdl.handle.net/10547/336227.

Full text
Abstract:
Since the late nineteenth century boxing in England has been socially organised into two ideologically distinctive versions - amateur and professional boxing – that to this day are practiced in spatially segregated social universes. Nonetheless, both amateur and professional boxing-practitioners understandings and lived experiences in and through boxing are necessarily grounded in the wider social and cultural contexts through which they interpret meaning and construct worldviews and identity. Thus despite the institutional, ideological and spatial boundaries demarcating either code, on a rather more subtle yet incredibly powerful cultural level, amateur and professional boxing are both symbolically and practically deeply intertwined. Over a five year period, I conducted ‘insider’ ethnographic research among distinct cohorts of amateur and professional boxers based in Luton and London to investigate the lived experiences and socially constructed worldviews, values and identities developed by practitioners immersed in either code. The overriding aim of this research was to critically evaluate the limits and possibilities of boxing-practitioners association with and development through ‘boxing’ henceforth. The findings of this ethnography reveal that it was common for the amateur and professional boxing-practitioners studied to cultivate empowering identities through intersubjective and socially validating instances of purposefulness, expressivity, creativity, fellowship and aspiration. These lived dimensions were grounded in sensuous, symbolic and emotional attachments respective to the social organization defining the social practice of either code of boxing. Equally, the research reveals that under the veneer of collective passion for and consequent fellowship experienced through boxing, an undercurrent yet ever-present sense of dubiety, tension and intra-personal conflict was in evidence among both the amateur and professional boxing-practitioners studied. It is suggested, therefore, that as a consequence of an array of both micro and macro post-industrial societal reconfigurations defining the structural principles of amateurism and professionalism in the practice of ‘boxing’, contemporary boxers are increasingly predisposed to developing athletic identities predisposed towards patterns of meaning production “…dominated by market-mediated consumer choice and the power of individualism” (Jarvie 2006 p. 327). Thus through complex, historically dynamic and seemingly paradoxical social processes of cultural (re)production and transformation - dialectically fusing individualistic aspirations geared towards self-interested gain, acts of group and subcultural fellowship and social resistance to measures of institutionalised control - it is argued that the role of boxing as an agent for humanistic personal and social development in the contemporary late-modern era of structural reconfiguration is progressively rendered impotent.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to determine the influence of distance from the target during dominant and non-dominant jab punches, on total response time, repeated jab punch force and anaerobic fatigue of amateur boxers. Data was gathered of the following variables: Biographical data, anthropometric data, total response time, change in total response time, number of punches, peak punch force and peak punch force fatigue resistance index. An exploratory and descriptive research design was used. Twelve male amateur boxers participated in this study. The participants were all either provincially or nationally ranked, between the ages 16 and 22 and in the competitive phase of their training. The data was compared to find statistical significance and it was found from the Wilcoxon ranked sign test that distance does not affect total response time, change in total response time, number of punches and peak punch force fatigue resistance index. However, it was found that distance affects peak punch force. Additionally,it was found using a Spearman rank correlation test that older boxers proved to have statistically significant faster total response times, the boxers that had slower total reponse times proved to have statistically significant less powerful peak punch force, the boxers that had slower total response times proved to have statistically significant larger fatigue resistance index, boxers with larger change in total response time proved to have statistically significant more powerful peak punch force and the boxers with larger peak punch force proved to have statistically significant smaller fatigue resistance index. The data presented provides an introduction of the exploration of how distance from a target relates to a boxer’s performance.

Abstract:
This thesis deals with the champion. It aims at understandings how the greatness of the champion is built in our modern societies and its relation with justice. The study attempts to traduce identity problems which are linked to the nomination and the public recognition. The examination of cases allows to focus the investigation on the champion's way to assume his greatness on the social scene and to expose himself the public sentence. This research based on diversity of methods describes how the champion is built and attempts to show clearly the different events or tests he as to pass. However the events are not only sporting ones but also identity tests because the greatness can be for the person a moral and public tragedy. The sociological look focuses on the passage of the champion's greatness through social worlds, on the excellence cost and what he feels. It also underlines what happens and events he has to pass which needs to express the real experience of the greatness. Thus it shows how the champion can reorganize his relationship with people, reconsider his environment, the resources that he needs to remain the same through the time and the space

Abstract:

MetodFyra boxare deltog i studien.
PurposeThe purpose of the study was to examine the ability of boxers to punch in predetermined submaximal intensities. Furthermore, the study aims to investigate the ability of boxers to maintain a predetermined submaximal intensity during sparring.MethodsFour boxers participated the study. Corner wrist sensors was used for data collection for punching tests in self-selected 50 %, 70 %, 90 % and maximal effort on a boxing bag, and for punches thrown during two 3-minute rounds of low intensity sparring with the instruction to spar at 50 % intensity. Shapiro-Wilks test was performed to examine the variables normal distribution. The data was then analyzed with One-Samples t-test or Wilcoxon Signed-rank test depending on the normal distribution.ResultsThere were significant differences (p < 0,05) between several of the participants punches and the punching techniques respective calculated punch intensity for each boxer, in all punching intensities. No escalation of punching intensity was found in the sparring rounds, most punches was over the instructed intensity (50 %), and in several cases had intensity values near or even over the participants maximal effort punching values.ConclusionsThe participants tend to underestimate their punching intensity when punching a boxing bag. The results of the present study show that high intensity punches are still present even in light sparring, with several punches having values near or even above the boxers respective maximal punching effort value. However, these results cannot be applied to the general population because of the limited sample size and due to not validated equipment. More research with a larger sample size and including higher sparring intensities for comparison.

Abstract:
This thesis aims at showing the impact of magnetic stimuli on balance muscles in sportsmen of different levels. Such effects can be determined with a statokinesimeter which measures the variations occuring in the projection of the centre of gravity compared to the center of the polygone of balance. Displacements of the center of gravity have been recorded on 14 French boxers (7 beginners and 7 advanced boxers) performing a middle kick with the front leg, under 17 different test conditions. Statistic results of these measurements have revealed that the stimulation of the various sensorimotor pathways selected induced different characteristic adaptations during the movement. Com petitors have manifested a lower sensitivity to magnetic fields, for an intensive physical training allows them to inhibate the parasitical synkinesis created by the various magnetic stimuli. In those sub jects, plantar and achillesian stimuli have had little effect, for the functioning of the proprioceptive system might be improved through training. The experiment has also shown that the operation of magneto sensitive structures varies according to postural reflexes and that magnetic stimuli applied to subjects standing on one foot mainly

Abstract:
The sport of boxing dates back to the time of the ancient Greeks and Romans. While boxing has come a long way from its origin in fist fighting, head injury is of great concern in the sport of boxing. A study found that over 70% of acute injuries occur in the head region, with almost half of the injuries to this region being concussions [1]. Various techniques have been implemented to discern the risk of head injury in boxing. Although some surrogate data have been collected to assess the mechanism that causes the injuries [2], real-time head acceleration data from the ring has yet to be obtained.

Abstract:
The CEA’s Aladin gamma imaging system has been operated successfully for several years in nuclear plants and during decommissioning projects with additional tools such as gamma spectrometry detectors and dose rate probes. The radiological information supplied by these devices is becoming increasingly useful for establishing robust and optimized decommissioning scenarios. Recent technical improvements allow this gamma imaging system to be operated in low-level applications and with shorter acquisition times suitable for decommissioning projects. The compact portable system can be used in places inaccessible to operators. It is quick and easy to implement, notably for onsite component characterization. Feasibility trials and in situ measurements were recently carried out under low-level conditions, mainly on waste packages and glove boxes for decommissioning projects. This paper describes recent low-level in situ applications. These characterization campaigns mainly concerned gamma emitters with γ energy < 700 keV. In many cases, the localization of hot spots by gamma camera was confirmed by additional measurements such as dose rate mapping and gamma spectrometry measurements. These complementary techniques associated with advanced calculation codes (MCNP, Mercure 6.2, Visiplan and Siren) offer a mobile and compact tool for specific assessment of waste packages and glove boxes.
