Full textDevelopment of coordination skills at boxers of mass categories of 15-17 years Abstract. In the qualification work of the master it is established that for the effective implementation of the process of sports training of boxers requires the optimal level of development of coordination skills, among which the leading place is occupied by agility. An experimental study was conducted to determine the increase in dexterity in the experimental group of boxers to differentiate spatial-force parameters of movement, spatio-temporal parameters of movement, increase dexterity in standard conditions, increase dexterity in predicted conditions, increase dexterity in non-standard conditions. Thus, the study proved the effectiveness of the developed and implemented methods of developing coordination skills in boxers of mass categories 15–17 years.

Full textThis thesis deals with the champion. It aims at understandings how the greatness of the champion is built in our modern societies and its relation with justice. The study attempts to traduce identity problems which are linked to the nomination and the public recognition. The examination of cases allows to focus the investigation on the champion's way to assume his greatness on the social scene and to expose himself the public sentence. This research based on diversity of methods describes how the champion is built and attempts to show clearly the different events or tests he as to pass. However the events are not only sporting ones but also identity tests because the greatness can be for the person a moral and public tragedy. The sociological look focuses on the passage of the champion's greatness through social worlds, on the excellence cost and what he feels. It also underlines what happens and events he has to pass which needs to express the real experience of the greatness. Thus it shows how the champion can reorganize his relationship with people, reconsider his environment, the resources that he needs to remain the same through the time and the space

Full textPurposeThe purpose of the study was to examine the ability of boxers to punch in predetermined submaximal intensities. Furthermore, the study aims to investigate the ability of boxers to maintain a predetermined submaximal intensity during sparring.MethodsFour boxers participated the study. Corner wrist sensors was used for data collection for punching tests in self-selected 50 %, 70 %, 90 % and maximal effort on a boxing bag, and for punches thrown during two 3-minute rounds of low intensity sparring with the instruction to spar at 50 % intensity. Shapiro-Wilks test was performed to examine the variables normal distribution. The data was then analyzed with One-Samples t-test or Wilcoxon Signed-rank test depending on the normal distribution.ResultsThere were significant differences (p < 0,05) between several of the participants punches and the punching techniques respective calculated punch intensity for each boxer, in all punching intensities. No escalation of punching intensity was found in the sparring rounds, most punches was over the instructed intensity (50 %), and in several cases had intensity values near or even over the participants maximal effort punching values.ConclusionsThe participants tend to underestimate their punching intensity when punching a boxing bag. The results of the present study show that high intensity punches are still present even in light sparring, with several punches having values near or even above the boxers respective maximal punching effort value. However, these results cannot be applied to the general population because of the limited sample size and due to not validated equipment. More research with a larger sample size and including higher sparring intensities for comparison.

Full textThis thesis aims at showing the impact of magnetic stimuli on balance muscles in sportsmen of different levels. Such effects can be determined with a statokinesimeter which measures the variations occuring in the projection of the centre of gravity compared to the center of the polygone of balance. Displacements of the center of gravity have been recorded on 14 French boxers (7 beginners and 7 advanced boxers) performing a middle kick with the front leg, under 17 different test conditions. Statistic results of these measurements have revealed that the stimulation of the various sensorimotor pathways selected induced different characteristic adaptations during the movement. Com petitors have manifested a lower sensitivity to magnetic fields, for an intensive physical training allows them to inhibate the parasitical synkinesis created by the various magnetic stimuli. In those sub jects, plantar and achillesian stimuli have had little effect, for the functioning of the proprioceptive system might be improved through training. The experiment has also shown that the operation of magneto sensitive structures varies according to postural reflexes and that magnetic stimuli applied to subjects standing on one foot mainly

Full textThe purpose of this study is a comparison, following two ethnographic investigations, opportunities for full integration of disabled people in the boxing in France and of capoeira in Brazil. Courses for this population are open so specialized or inclusive. Through these initiatives, teachers and coaches get a better reputation, better income and an expanded network of contacts. At the same time, there is an integration of disabled people on both sides of the Atlantic, the symbolic violence making a selection through knowledge transfer. Ultimately, the analysis shows that the way to see the world of boxing and capoeira encourages them to act so that a maximum number of individuals is an advantage that it is the institutional actors, students with disabilities, or not and themselves. However, this does not prevent conflicts appear showing the tension between three points of view on disability : segregation, inclusion and selective integration. Indeed, the latter existing in two activities studied use of symbolic violence as the two previous attempts in the opposite way to minimize it

Full textWhile at the turn of the nineteenth century, boxing in England remained a criminal practice and obscure, it is promoted, on the eve of the Great War, the rank of sport of the most fashionable. Embodying an ideal of physical regeneration, this staging of the body is then a show of flagship Parisian nights. The frequency of the demonstrations, the number of spectators during the big fights, the interest carried by a big part of the press and, finally, the social heterogeneity of a public, composed in particular by the principal artistic elites of the Belle Époque, constitute the most significant testimonies of this "triumph of the fist".What can be called "The Belle Époque of Boxing in France" is also marked by a correlation between the success of this practice and the advent of the first tri-colored sports star: the boxer Georges Carpentier. Born in 1894 in Liévin, in the mining basin of Pas-de-Calais, this champion embraces the profession of pugilist at the age of 14 years. In 1914, aged 20, he has already delivered more than 77 clashes and conquered, to the annoyance of the British, four titles of European champion! Such a journey invites to think the question of the factory of the champion at the Belle Epoque. It is all the product of a competent sports entourage and hard work that the result of a kind of "gift" amplified by the precocity and difficulty of the fighting. Not to mention, an economic environment favorable to the sport show marked by the synergy, even consanguinity of sports show entrepreneurs and media outlets who work for the construction of a "national idol".Unlike most of the winners of this sport, who entered the career as an adult, Carpentier chose this hard job at the end of childhood. Also, he argues the majority of his struggles during his adolescence. Because the spectacle of boxing can serve as a prism through which the historian analyzes the French society and culture of the pre-war period, this atypical trajectory, even enigmatic by its brilliance, questions the relationship to the physical violence maintained by this young man. pugilist and more widely by a whole generation. Sometimes considered as a game of brute, sometimes as a noble art, boxing is also the mirror of a Belle Epoque, shared in the words of the Italian historian Emilio Gentile between "triumphant modernity" and "barbarism of splendor". Its success, like that of air or motor sports, is part of a "culture of aggression" that seems to announce the violence of the First World War.Between 1908 and 1914, at the rate of many and improbable victories, the popularity of Carpentier continues to grow. It reached its peak in the two years preceding the war, especially when there were convincing triumphs against the finest pugilistic British flower. On the occasion of matches mobilizing the springs of anti-English nationalism, these clashes continue the long historical enmity between France and the "perfidious Albion", while nourishing and growing the fame of the boxer. At the dawn of celebrity worship, the extent of its notoriety can be evaluated by a regular visibility in the media, the birth of an industry and an economy centered around its image and emergence of a form of adulation and heroism of his person. In a kind of allegory, his face, and in particular the contradiction between his first young physique and the extreme aggressiveness that he shows once in the ring, embody then the ambivalence of boxing and by the same that of the Belle Epoque. Strangely echoing the famous sentence pronounced by the philosopher Hegel, "Woe to the people who need heroes", the elevation, a few years before the Great War, of a boxer to the rank of national hero, would appear as a testimony of the inability of the country to find in the collective, moral springs to avoid the cataclysm that grew in the shadows

The main objective of this study is to present a proposal for a research project that aims to understand the relationship between sports activity, specifically boxing, on the part of children and adolescents, and the possible effectiveness in intervening in the phenomenon of juvenile delinquency. It is also intended to analyze and characterize the factors inherent to the practice of boxing that have a greater contribution in protecting the young athlete, as well as analyzing and understanding the existent weaknesses and gaps, in order to see both pros and cons of this sport and it’s relationship with juvenile delinquency. The project is divided into two parts, the first theoretical and the second empirical, where there's a proposal for research directed at boxing coaches, registered by the Associação de Boxe do Porto. Data gathering will be done via a semi-structured interview. It is expected that the results obtained make it possible to perceive that the participation in boxing encompasses several benefits that contribute to the inhibition of delinquency among young people. However, it is necessary to consider that boxing, by itself, is not the solution.

Full textThe research carried out explores the didactics of Thai boxing, focusing on the dual process of strategic, tactical and technical knowledge transmission and appropriation for the purposes of optimising sport performance . The aim is to train fighters' ability to thoughtfully address challenges presented by an opponent. Our approach centers on reflective thinking occurring before, during and after a training situation's actionin order to foster reasoned, conscious boxing. We seek to acquire innovative training methods and build new relationships between to knowledge, training and trainers, breaking with traditional training models. Our study focuses on comparing the effectiveness of two training models in terms of sport performance. The first model, called the Guided Decision Pedagogy Model (PMDG), involves reinforced coach guidance for solution selection. The second model, known as the Self-Adaptive Approach Pedagogy Model (PMAA), offers less guidance and encourages boxers to independently seek solutions for specific challenges. The originality of this study lies in its interdisciplinary approach, notably associating the didactics of scientific and technological disciplines with clinical research, in a methodological approach integrating quantitative analysis tracking performance evolution in training situations, and qualitative analysis delving into practitioners' subjective experiences. The experimental protocol involved implementing two unique training models to address problems posed by an attacking opponent, for which we had quantitative data on the boxer's defensive actions. This allowed us to assess participants' progress in each group through statistical analysis. Additionally, various variables were examined to assess the relationship between methods, rounds and types of problem. We also gathered trainees' subjective experiences through semi-structured interviews conducted before and after the protocol. Analysing this data provided insights into how each individual perceived and developed their relationship to knowledge, training and the coach during the experiment. In our comprehensive analysis of results, it appears that the PMDG method is more effective for group advancement, while the PMAA method appears to be more conducive to individual progress.Regarding the interviews and the trainees' relationships to training and the coach, participants highly appreciated having some degree of autonomy. They found satisfaction in seeking solutions independently, but they also relied on the coach, especially in opposition scenarios or for validation, advice, or motivation during training. The case studies underscored the distinct experiences of each fighter in their coach-student relationship, and for some, the evolution of their ideas. This study could be extended by applying the same protocol to offensive strategies or by comparing its effects with other established models. The objective is to corroborate current findings, uncover new insights, contribute to the advancement of training and research in the realm of sports and athletics, and more generally to foster the development and exploration of novel models of knowledge transmission and appropriation

Full textThe study examines the discourse on boxing in English society circa 1780 to 1820. It shows that it was a site of struggle between diverse notions of gender, class, race, and nation. Boxing was a central arena for the opposition between civic humanism and politeness. It was an arena for the struggle between two diametrically opposed manly ideals, the strong and corporeal ideal epitomized by the boxers versus the feminine and sensitive polite ideal. Boxing took on an important role in the debates on the place of the working class in the body politic; conservatives perceived boxing as a counter-revolutionary measure and way to mobilise the masses in defence of their country without granting them political rights. Radicals viewed it as a tool to empowering the workers, educating them on their rights and legitimizing their claims for emancipation. Boxing was also a site of struggle between conflicting notions of race and differing ideas of national identity, specifically between one which saw the nation as ethnically homogenous and another, more cultural understanding of national identity, which was more inclusive to minorities.

Full textThis work is a comparative analysis of ethnoracial domination and urban marginality in the United States and France which aims to study two social spaces of relegation, the black ghetto in the U. S. And the working-class suburbs in France. To compare two urban areas in two different societies is to analyze the social mechanisms that allow their production and reproduction, by establishing a socio-historical analysis of the mechanisms and institutions that have led to the dehistoricization and sustainability of urban marginality and ethnoracial division, but also the mental representations, made from "above" and from "below" associated with it. The ethnographic study of bodybuilding and Thai boxing in the black American ghetto and the French working-class suburb has allowed us to account for the incorporation of the social through a bodily practice and its translation into social strategies. Because they have adopted a new cosmogony, the young men of working-class suburb and the black ghetto build a carnal solidarity in practice and reproduce the social honor of the group challenged by various social mechanisms of stigmatization and marginalization in a the context of job insecurity and unemployment. At the same time, these bodily practices prevent practitioners from getting involved in a deviant career because they occupy and fix the agents, and because they internalize a set of "values" that give a meaning and a direction to their everyday life

Purpose: Sports vision ought to play an important part for boxing. Investigation of sports vision in boxers is limited. Thus, this study was to investigate the difference of sports vision between boxer and non-boxer. Methods: Fifteen boxers and fifteen general students at the same age were enrolled in this study and they were asked to perform four directions of dynamic visual acuity (DVA) sports vision tests, which were measured using ATHLEVISION software. The score will be on a scale from 1 (worse) to 10 (best). Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare all the parameters of DVA between both groups. Results: Boxers had significant higher DVA scores of up, right, left directions and DVA scores of horizontal, vertical and overall directions than general students (p<0.5). However, boxers had a trend toward better scores in the DVA of down direction. Conclusion: Boxers had better DVA than general students with the same age. This findings could provide suggestions of talent selection and sport vision training for coaches and boxers.

Time can neither be stopped nor reversed. By writing one’s life stories to know oneself once again, however, we can make time stop for a while. We will have time to think and analyze in a different time and space, and look for ourselves through the space-time of the past, the present, and the future. In Taiwan, boxing is a quite neglected sport. The general public also holds a negative recognition over this sport. Despite this, in my years of experience in engaging in boxing, I have found that boxing players with excellent accomplishments are characterized by perseverance, calmness, and bravery. These qualities can also be shown in their character and upbringing. This belief allows me to reflect on myself by using a self-narrative way to re-examine my past sport life. Through studying the progress of writing on the researcher “I” from a novice stepping into the boxing world for the first time to becoming a national champion representing Taiwan to join the Olympic qualification tournaments. My boxing career has evolved from hesitation to advancing bravely. This has not only given a sense of firmness to me who once was perplexed by myself, but it has also redefined the possibility of who “I” am. In relating the story of a boxer, the meaning of “I” is re-examined. The research text presents a boxer who completed her memory jigsaw puzzle with the boxing ring as the background – her self-reflection and growth after recounting her sport experience, injuries, and insight.

The boxer is often considered to be simple-minded with developed four limbs. Only a few people pay close attention to the boxers that they have fine and smooth feelings and implicit literature artistic conception wrapped up in their heart behind their exertion. Mr. Kau Chai has involved the boxing sport for 33 years, who is persistent to and pay much to boxing. He has key influence on the development of boxing in senior high schools. The major objective of this research is to study the boxing sport history of Mr. Kau Chai (from athlete to coach and teacher), and the explanation of “Focusing on Athleticism and not Ignore Literature” by Mr. Kau Chai. This research describes and studies the boxing sport history of Teacher Kau Chai through deep interview, interview of focus group, and data collection and analysis. The result of study finds out: (1) The career of Mr. Kau Chai likes what Nietzsche speak “three changes of spirit”. The first change is a camel: The boxer exercise very hard everyday. He is not afraid of difficult training and boxing skill. He also focuses on the washing and improvement of soul in the evening. The second change is a lion: During the period of the boxing coach and sports teacher, he will start to ask himself: “how should I do!” And he will create a new value world on old value. The third change is an infant: During the period of the chief teacher for the athletic class, he helps the players not to be light and gentle in the field of boxing, and popularizes it to the other sports fields. This represents the reborn of himself. (2) Athlete always keeps running in the scope of “athleticism”. If they can learn continuously and ask gently to raise “literature” in their mind, they can reach so called “Focusing on Athleticism and not Ignore Literature”
