Abstract:
The tension and compression zones of moment plate connections were studied separately by testing branch plate and hollow structural section connections under each type of loading. Square hollow section flanges were reinforced by doubler plates fillet-welded all around. The results from 13 specimens tested in tension indicate that branch plate to reinforcing plate width ratio is an important parameter in joint behaviour. The dominant failure mode was punching shear of the reinforcing plate. The importance of reinforcing plate and HSS wall thicknesses was apparent from the results of 13 specimen

Cyclic tests were performed for three longitudinal plate-to-RHS K-connection specimens. As the license plate is multiscale and multidirectional in the natural scene image, its detection is challenging in many applications. In this work, a novel network that combines indirect and direct branches is proposed for license plate detection in the wild. The indirect detection branch performs small-sized vehicle plate detection with high precision in a coarse-to-fine scheme using vehicle–plate relationships. The direct detection branch detects the license plate directly in the input image, reducing false negatives in the indirect detection branch due to the miss of vehicles’ detection. W

Abstract:
The neutral stability curve for the flat-plate boundary layer has been calculated using the Orr–Sommerfeld equation and compared to those obtained using upper- and lower-branch scalings. The Orr–Sommerfeld results agree well with the lower-branch scaling at Reynolds numbers relevant to experiment, but agree well with the upper-branch scaling only for Rδ > 105. It is shown that the critical layer only emerges from the viscous wall layer when Rδ > 105. This suggests that for Rδ < 105, when the critical layer lies within the viscous wall layer, the disturbance has a triple-deck structure

Based on relevant flow rule, Von Mises yield condition and the virtual displacement principle determined by the updated-Lagrange configuration, nonlinear finite-element analysis of the tube-plate connection of K-shape by ANSYS program is studied in this thesis. In order to study the influence of main pipe to the ultimate strength of the tube-plate connection of K-shape, two geometric parameters are considered, D, diameter of the main pipe; T, thickness of the main pipe .Three typical failure modes, gusset yielding, main pipe excessive plastic deformation failure and branch local buckling are a

This paper designs a vertically polarized, horizontal, omnidirectional vehicle antenna for the mobile communication band, covering the available frequency bands of the wireless sensor network and 5G. The antenna is composed of semi-T monopole and semicone monopole, which are placed vertically on the metal plate, especially suitable for being mounted on top of a car. T-branch mainly works at low frequency, and cone branch mainly works at high frequency. The cone branch adopts tapered structure in order to improve the impedance matching of antenna and increase the bandwidth of antenna. The anten

AbstractNon-modal analysis determines the potential for energy amplification in stable flows. The latter is quantified in the frequency domain by the singular values of the resolvent operator. The present work extends previous analysis on the effect of base-flow modifications on flow stability by considering the sensitivity of the flow non-modal behaviour. Using a variational technique, we derive an analytical expression for the gradient of a singular value with respect to base-flow modifications and show how it depends on the singular vectors of the resolvent operator, also denoted the optima

Abstract:
Background: A radial incision with radial plate fixation for distal radius fracture has historically been avoided due to its risk to the superficial branch of the radial nerve (SBRN). With careful technique, it is possible to avoid injury to the SBRN, thereby minimizing the soft tissue injury associated with other approaches. We compare subjective and objective functional outcomes of radial plate fixation surgeries that we performed with those of dorsal and volar plate fixation in current literature. Methods: Patients at a single center who underwent radial plate fixation for an AO type A or A

This paper presents two novel UHF RFID near-field reader antennas with uniform vertical electric field distribution. The two antennas have the following common characteristics. First, the radiating parts of the two antennas are simulated and fabricated by the microstrip lines and work using the leakage wave principle of microstrip lines. Second, the end of microstrip lines match the load to form a traveling wave mode of operation, so the two antennas have broadband characteristics. Third, both antennas are fed in a coaxial manner at the center of the antenna. The simulation and measurement res
