As estrelas anãs brancas e pré-anãs brancas pulsantes apresentam pulsações não-radiais, multiperíodicas. Os períodos dos modos de pulsação dependem de parâmetros físicos da estrela, como a massa, a temperatura efetiva da superfície, a luminosidade, e da sua estrutura interna. À medida que a estrela evolui, os períodos de pulsação mudam em resposta às alterações em sua estrutura interna. O estudo dos modos de pulsação nos permite estimar parâmetros físicos da estrela, como a massa, por exemplo, e a medida das variações nos períodos dos modos de pulsação revelam as escalas de tempo de evolução.

Introdução: A profilaxia pré-exposição (PrEP) é utilizada como tecnologia de controle da epidemia do HIV, importante problema de saúde pública. A população negra (pretos e pardos) é considerada pelo Ministério da Saúde (MS) como prioritária, pois o HIV/AIDS tem um impacto diferenciado nessa população. O Boletim Epidemiológico de São Paulo, no período de 2012 a 2021, no quesito raça/cor, registrou 13.843 casos de HIV para pessoas autodeclaradas brancas, enquanto para negros essa cifra foi de 14.555 casos.
