Full textPDT (PhotoDynamic Therapy) is a relatively new therapeutic approach for the treatment of localized malignant tumours, directly accessible to light or by endoscopy way (retinoblastoma, skin cancer) Treatment is based upon non-toxic photoactivated molecules, "photosensitizers", which are preferentially retained in tumour cells and light at on appropriate wave length, allowing to target tumour cells. At the Institut Curie, research works is focalized on dissymmetrical porphyrins, substituted by carbohydrates, which seem to be recognised by tumour cells. A structure/activity study showed a planar structure and an amphiphilic character are important factors for good photodynamic activity. Moreover, porphyrins substituted by two or three sugars are the most phototoxic known molecules. The objective of this thesis is the optimization of the meso cis-disubstituted glycoconjugated porphyrins using to solid phase chemistry. The classical solution phase synthesis of these compounds leads to a statistical mixture of molecules which are difficult to separate and purify. Solid phase chemistry is an effective method allowing to avoid purification and to "dessymetrize" a symmetrical macrocycle by a selective mono or diprotection. In this way, we can produce meso cis-disubstitued porphyrins from a resin allowing the diprotection of the macrocycle. The attachment of a linker, like a triarylbenzene precursor of porphyrin, on the resin followed by its transformation into a porphyrin and its cleavage can lead to these target compounds

Full textIndustrial plantations are currently Cameroon’s first private employment sector, and cover huge areas. Drawing on labour and organizational studies as well as political sociology, the thesis shows how much these peculiar spaces, often described as closed enclaves subject to desertification, are constrained by social processes and contribute to State-formation. To this end it gives special attention to material realities, life trajectories and social conflicts. The first part of the thesis is dedicated to a sociological description of the labour force, rank and file of workers but also members of management. It explores the experiences of labouring bodies, the social meanings of money, lifestyles, solidarities and social differentiations in order to portray the wide diversity of workers. It shows that gender (both womanhood and manhood), ethnicity, race, education or land possession are all imported and reshaped inside the plantation. The dissertation questions plantation workers’ trajectories and imaginaries, showing how such a labour force is deeply integrated within a wider whole, the Cameroonian working classes. The second part of the thesis shows how large estates participate in shaping both the Cameroonian territory and the current political order. Understood as organizations that are constantly in the making, these companies are manufactured by evolving spatial constraints, as well as constant labour shortages and conflicts. Plantations must then contend on a daily basis with numerous forms of resistance and contestation to maintain their geographical area and build their labour force. Land and employment issues are core to the making of the peculiar political topographies through which industrial plantations contribute to State formation in Cameroon. In that sense, the thesis suggests that the creative political role plaid by workplaces and labour issues have been underestimated in the study of land grabbing and of contemporary African societies. On a more theoretical level, the thesis, which builds upon a long-run ethnographic immersion in three agro-industrial plants, puts into discussion contributions from sociology and anthropology around labour, working classes, organizations, land and State

Full textThe goal of this work was to study the representation of the peri-personnal space in man. This investigation is performed by analysing the arm movement in the three-dimensional space. This movement consisted in the production of drawing movements -ellipses- executed in the three anatomical reference planes: the sagittal, the frontal and the horizontal. By selecting this experimental paradigm, we consider the movement as the expression of a cognitif processus per se: the perceptual motor representation of the three-dimensional space. The drawing movements in the space were recorded by means of the Vicon three-dimensional motion analyser. In the first part of this work, a comparative study has been done about the mental representation of the space and the influence of the visual information. The results of this first part showed that the motor representation of the anatomical reference planes was anisotropic. In the second part, we have studied the influence of the nature of the movement on the production of oriented figure in the space. In this part, the ellipses have been produced by drawing and by pointing. The results confirmed the anisotropy found in the first part of our work. In the third part, the performance of elderly subjects -not suffering of any neurosensorial deficiency- has been studied. The anisotropy in the motor representation of the space, observed for the elderly subjects, can be interpreted as a shrinking of the representation of the peri-personnal space
Carrier, René-Pierre.

Full textImproving patients therapeutic care needs the development of sensitive and specific diagnostic tools. Aptamers are synthetic oligonucleotides obtained by SELEX with a very high affinity and excellent specificity for their targets. Grafting of these molecular recognition patterns onto nanomaterials such as gold nanoparticles (GNPs), which unique optical and electronic properties, can amplify the signal induce by the interaction between the ligand and its target. Two biosensing systems have been developed by GNP functionalization with aptamers, one is directed against thrombin and the second against an epigenetic mark carried by a histone protein. Gold precursors was reduced in the presence of PEO4 and led to a homodisperse population of spherical GNP with an average diameter of 14 nm and an isotropy of size and shape. GNP were functionalized with tetraethylene glycol units interconnected by ether or triazoles bridges as a linker. Lipoic acid was used as an anchor moiety onto gold surface via a covalent Au-S bond and was coupled to the spacer through a Steglich reaction. The linkers were functionalized with an azide group to perform the coupling with aptamers by click chemistry. The thrombin sensing strategy used the fluorescence quenching properties of GNPs while the histone detection involved the gold nanoparticle plasmon resonance surface effect

Full textThe appearance in the early 2010s of collaborative robots in parallel with the development of industry 4.0 prompted manufacturers to rethink robotics. Theintegration of robots in contact with humans makes it possible to combine their strengths in terms of flexibility and adaptability to complex tasks. However, many challenges are posed to the robotics community by these new practices and in particular: howto secure the interaction between Human and Robot. We propose to address this problem by proposing a complete pipeline allowing the robot to move autonomously in the space shared with humans while guaranteeing its safety. For this we build a representation of the robot's workspace in the form of a 3D semantic occupation grid from the robot's perception of its environment. We then project in real time the obstacles and humans present in the robot's work area to the configurationsspace, a representation adapted to robotic arms. Using the medialaxis in the configurationsspace, the robot's trajectory towards the objective is calculated as far as possible from obstacles. We adapt this trajectory to the dynamic change of the environment and modulate its speed according to the distance separating the human and the robot. The interest of this method has been demonstrated in simulation and with real experiments on collaborative robots in an industrial context
Adorno, Bruno. "Two-arm Manipulation : from Manipulators to Enhanced Human-Robot Collaboration." Thesis, Montpellier 2, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011MON20064/document.
Full textThis thesis is devoted to the study of robotic two-arm coordination/manipulation from a unified perspective, and conceptually different bimanual tasks are thus described within the same formalism. In order to provide a consistent and compact theory, the techniques presented herein use dual quaternions to represent every single aspect of robot kinematic modeling and control.A novel representation for two-arm manipulation is proposed—the cooperative dual task-space—which exploits the dual quaternion algebra to unify the various approaches found in the literature. The method is further extended to take into account any serially coupled kinematic chain, and a case study is performed using a simulated mobile manipulator. An original application of the cooperative dual task-space is proposed to intuitively represent general human-robot collaboration (HRC) tasks, and several experiments were performed to validate the proposed techniques. Furthermore, the thesis proposes a novel class of HRC taskswherein the robot controls all the coordination aspects; that is, in addition to controlling its own arm, the robot controls the human arm by means of functional electrical stimulation (FES).Thanks to the holistic approach developed throughout the thesis, the resultant theory is compact, uses a small set of mathematical tools, and is capable of describing and controlling a broad range of robot manipulation tasks
